Blogging The Boys Mike Jenkins Bicep Treatment

I'm not sure what his status is, but in case you're curious, here is a photo of the treatment they are doing on his arm. I don't really know what those things are but it's interesting looking. Does anyone know what sort of therapy this is? I really hope he's fine, we can't afford to lose him just as he's starting to break out. Our CBs this year can hit, I love it!

Blogging The Boys First Time Poster's Thoughts

Hello everyone, I am a longtime reader (since TheBoysBlog) but have never posted. I have really enjoyed all the new content since the merger as well as the enthusiasm and (usually) insightful comments from the diehards. Despite never posting, I have spent a lot of time reading the comments so I feel as if I know the personalities of a lot of the posters on here. There are a few thoughts I’d like to share.

First of all, who else but #9. The biggest thing that worries me about Romo is his demeanor. Right before the last drive in the Denver game, he was sitting on the sidelines with his head hung looking sullen. He did it during the Chiefs game too. Tell me that Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Troy Aikman and countless other great QBs wouldn’t have been running up and down the sideline screaming to rally the troops. Now maybe Romo will never be an in-your-face screamer, but he certainly has enough personality to do something there. When I think of Romo 2 years ago, he was happy-go-lucky, joked around, and seemed as if he was having the time of his life. He lit it up then. Now he looks as if all he’s thinking about is what the fans and everyone in the media will say if he isn’t perfect. It’s like he’s stopped having fun and thinks every game is do or die. I believe he puts way more pressure on himself than any of us ever could. I don’t know how but he needs to lighten up. I wish JG could just tell him to play his game, and help him do that with a consistent running game and rolling him out of the pocket. Let’s get this guys mind right, have him worry about less pre-snap, and get him to have some fun out there. I think that will help the whole offense. I know this is subjective and speculative analysis, but I think it's a legitimite concern. This guy can still play, he just needs to get out of his own head.

Next, the defense. Obviously, there is a lot to worry about. However as Grizz mentioned, there is a lot to be excited about too. Brooking is turning into the playmaker and emotional leader Bradie James has always wanted to be. Mike Jenkins is starting to play with a swagger. Rat is still giving everyone he goes against fits, and Ware finally got the sack monkey off his back. I think there were too many new players and the NFL is too hard for the Cowboys to have started the season dominate. But if these guys can learn to play smart football together, and not collapse at the end, I think we have a very good defense.

There has been a lot of conflict on the blog lately about what kind of team we have and what attitude a fan should have. I personally think Wade and JG are awful, but I’ll give them this season before I call for their heads. We’ve only played 5 games, there’s a lot of time for this team to put it all together and play to their potential.

In 2005 the Pittsburgh Steelers got off to a 7-5 start that included a 3 game losing streak. They were able to turn it around and get hot at the right time. They won the last 4 weeks of the regular season and rode that streak to a Superbowl victory. We’ve seen the Cowboys start hot and fade towards the end. The optimist in me thinks this year will be the opposite. I hope so bad that this team can learn from all its early struggles and put together a streak so that for once we’ll actually be the hot team when the playoffs start.
