T.O. Signs with Bills
That didnt take long. Good for him.
WTF?
ESPN has an article on how the Falcons are looking to trade Mike Vick's rights. No conjecture on who might be interested. In fact, no other team is mentioned, save one....yep, the Cowboys. And only to mention that we HAVE NOT discussed trading for him. WTF? Why mention us just to say we HAVENT discussed trading for him.? Actually, I know why, but it still sucks.
A ray of hope for Lions fans
Matt Millen has left the building. Maybe the Lions can scrounge up a winning record in a couple more years now.

Romo to the rescue
I realize I run the wrath of bigham telling me this is a FanShot instead of a FanPost on this one but it's a REALLY good story and didn't want it getting lost down there. It shows the type of "characters with character" Jerry Jones has assembled on this team. Take a few minutes and read it. It will make you proud to be a fan of the Cowboys and Tony Romo in particular.
It's official
Brady is out for the year. Ive got no love loss for the Patriots and Bill Belicheck but losing a premier player in the league isn't good for football overall. And I never cheer for a player getting hurt, except once when Andre Waters got hurt.
The question now is, has the balance of power shifted? Of course, but where has it shifted too? Conventional logic would say Indy or San Diego (at least in the AFC) except both of those teams got beat yesterday by what most considered lower echilon NFC teams. And both got beat at home!
Is the NFC re-emerging as the dominant conference in football?
Rosenhaus: Sheppard trade coming soon
I think Rosenhaus is secretly a Cowboys fan
Can the Browns stop TO?
Decent, if short, article on Cowboys/Browns matchup.
Giants cut Woodson
Matt Mosely is reporting that Andre Woodson has been/will be cut by the New York Giants. Once projected as a possible first rounder, he fell all the way to the sixth round and is now getting cut after is first camp. Is the guy that big a bust at the NFL level? Alot of us have been upset with the Cowboys for not spending a draft pick to develop a younger QB. Should we stick Woodson on our 53 and see if we can do something with him? Or do the list of injuries at the WR position preclude such a move?
Newy Tees Off On Tuna
While I give Parcell's credit for HELPING to rebuild the talent on this team I have to admit that I had quiet a good chuckle reading Newy's scathing commentary on Parcells and his integrity (or lack there of). He makes some very good points by the way. Worth a quick read.
Cowboys to corner market on Roy Williamses?
Got this link from the DMN Blog comment section claiming there's a rumor on Dallas sports radio that the Cowboys are shopping Greg Ellis and Anthony Henry to Detroit for disgruntled WR Roy Williams. Didn't here this myself but thought it was an interesting idea. At least it's somewhat more realistic than trading Carp for Roy.
Let's pretend this was an actual possibility. Would you pull the trigger?
I myself don't think I could at this point for one simple reason and that's there's no guarranty AJ is gonna be around all season, though Im crossing my fingers he will be.

Martellus Bennett agrees to terms
Agreed to terms on 4-year deal
How will officiating change affect DWare?
I was just reading John Clayton's latest mailbag post because he pontificated on the Cowboys needing another receiver. But before I digress on that, he answered another question about Julius Peppers and his answer got me to wondering how this officiating change (which I had not heard about) might help Demarcus Ware.
The question was:
Q: Do you think Julius Peppers will rebound this season? How much do you think his poor performance last year can be attributed to the decline of Mike Rucker on the other side, or did Peppers really lose a step?
Dan in Greenville, S.C.
A: Peppers should bounce this year for a couple of reasons. First, it's a contract year. Big money is waiting for him if he can get 10 or more sacks. Second, the league revised the officiating looks along the offensive line after tackles got away with too much holding last season. Now, the ref will watch the left side to make sure the right defensive end isn't held as much. Athletic defensive ends such as Peppers suffered the price of not having those holding penalties called. It allowed the hustling defensive ends such as Allen and Patrick Kerney to be among the sack leaders.
Assuming Clayton's analysis of how this change will affect edge rushers, it would seem to suggest a possible super monster season on top of the already monster season we are hoping for/expecting out of DWare. Thoughts?

A chilling reminder of how fast team fortunes can shift due to injury.
Cowboys' secondary is second to none
Two number ones in a row. This defense should have no more excuses to not be a dominate one.

Over/Under on Benson Flier
So whats the over/under on the number of days before someone on BTB suggests taking a flier on recently cut Cedric Benson?

Nick Eatman is saying the T-New deal will be for 7 years for around $51 million dollars.
Wheeling & Dealing
- 2nd RD pick Martellus Bennett TE was JJ's only pick NOT somehow involved in a trade
Possible trade scenarios
I found a spreadsheet from Mike Sando at ESPN (I think) with the entire draft order, including compensatory pics. I added in the trade chart values and started playing around with possible trade scenarios for the Boys. Now Im not 100% sure on the trade values matching up exactly but they should be pretty close. Take a look and let's discuss.
