Just a DIE HARD NINER FAN

I have lived in the Bay Area since 1962. My passion for American football was fueled by the outstanding season that Jim Plunkitt and rest of the team had during the 1966 football season James Lick High School had. I have been a true Niner fan since 1971 and was fortunate to have been eye witness to the fantastic events of 1981 and held season tickets for 2 of the Niners 5 Super bowl seasons. I was one of the few to see "the catch" in person. And yes I have sat through many games in the cold and wet of Candlestick park only to see the Niners go down in defeat. I have seen it all and through it all I and still remain A DIE HARD NINER FAN.

Niners Nation Dying breed: Classic middle LBs are roaming their way to extinction

I found this article on SI today by John Lopez and thought it worth while passing it on.  It is an interesting take on the changeing roll of the Middle LB in the NFL today. The article deals with the how the defensive schemes today have evolved to a point that much of the heavy load for pass rush has shifted away from the MLB position to the DE and DT positions. Of interest to the NN fans is the Mike Singletary and Willis are noted as affected by this shift.
