Call me crazy but I refuse to throw in the towel. It’s clearly a long shot for the Steelers to make post-season but not impossible. Nothing has gone right for them this season but something’s gotta give, right? I took a quick look at the many chain of events that must happen. More after the jump.

This analysis is based on the division leaders holding up…

#1: Obviously win out. Tough stretch coming up but with, hopefully, the return of Troy we’ll make the run. Winning out would eliminate Miami.

#2: While winning out we would need the Raven’s to also lose one more along the way, perhaps tonight on MNF. If we tie at 10-6 and with the split head-2-head, it would go down to the division and then conference record (both tied 3-3 Div & 7-5 Cof). I don’t know what the tiebreaker is after that. I’d much rather they just lose tonight and then again on the 27th.

#3: Jacksonville needs to lose two to finish 9-7. A tie at 10-6 gets them in with the better conference record. They have Miami at home, Indy at home, at NE and at Cleveland. Miami and NE still have a lot to play for and could beat the jags. Indy doesn’t have as much to play for but their still Indy and the Browns, well…

The Broncos need to lose two to finish 10-6 and we’ll have the head-to-head tiebreaker there. They have a tough road too with games at Indy, home with division rival Oakland, at Philly who still has a lot to play for and then home to the Chiefs. I think there’s a possible two losses there…

Tall order but not impossible. This is the NFL and anything can happen. Just ask the Steelers.

HELP! Coming to Pittsburgh for 1st time in 9 years...

Hi All, I'm coming in this weekend with the wife for the big game on Sunday. I haven’t been to Pittsburgh in about 9 years. I have a couple of activities planned and wanted to get some opinions.

First of foremost: I can not miss PSU/Mich game on Saturday afternoon. I need a good bar in the Strip District to watch college football on Saturday. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.

We are looking at doing either "The Ducky Tour" or the Duquesne Incline. Don't know that we'll be able to do both. Which would be better? Recommendations please.

Also, what does security at the game allow into Heinz Field in teams of bags?

Lastly, anyone welcoming out of towners to tailgate? We’ll come with beer and a dish of some sort...

40 days off…

JoePa down played it because that’s what he has to do but 40 days off takes a toll on a football team… I know this sounds like sour grapes but I don’t give a shitt… PSU was off for 40 days and had to travel to USC’s back yard… USC was off for 25 days and played in their backyard… USC is a good team no doubt but they are not as good as what Penn State made them look last night…

The Bowl system needs a major overhaul…. If NCAA and BCS doesn’t want to have a playoff system, fine… make sure the regular season ends the same weekend for everyone… make conferences that don’t have a conference championship game have one. Make Notre Shame join a F’n conference. When all that is done, play the F’n bowl games the next week or 2 weeks at the latest… 40 F’n days is too long….

I would love to see the situation reversed with USC off for 40 days and then had to come to play Penn State in Heinz Field on New Years Day…

Steelers/Titans game flexed?

Can anyone confirm whether or not the game this week has been moved to 4PM on CBS?

I was looking at TV Guide on-line for the Philadelphia market and found a listing for the Steelers/Titans game to be televised on CBS at 4PM... This would really workout nice for me this weekend... Has anyone else seen this?

Texas over Florida?

I would love nothing more than to see the BCS cause more outrage in College Football.

With that being said, does anyone see Texas moving into the #2 spot and leaving Florida on the outside looking in?

'Bama is now out.... Okla move to #1, Texas move to #2 and Florida move to #3....

I know everyone keeps talking about Florida being in the BCS Championship game but I don't think it's so cut and dr

BCS DECLARES GERMANY WINNER OF WORLD WAR II
US Ranked 4th

After determining the Big-12 championship game participants the BCS
computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS
declared Germany to be the winner of World War II.

"Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with
the annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into
conference play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden,
Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. Their only losses came against
the US and Russia; however considering their entire body of work--
including an incredibly tough Strength of Schedule--our computers
deemed them worthy of the #1 ranking."

Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States the BCS
commissioner stated "The US only had two major victories--Japan and
Germany. The computer models, unlike humans, aren't influenced by head-
to-head contests--they consider each contest to be only a single,
equally-weighted event."

German Chancellor Adolph Hiter said "Yes, we lost to the US; but we
defeated #2 ranked France in only 6 weeks." Herr Hitler has been
criticized for seeking dramatic victories to earn 'style points' to
enhance Germany's rankings. Hitler protested "Our contest with Poland
was in doubt until the final day and the conditions in Norway were
incredibly challenging and demanded the application of additional
forces."

The French ranking has also come under scrutiny. The BCS commented "
France had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1
ranking they only fell to #2."
Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Manchuria, Borneo and the
Philippines.

We’ll never see a "traditional" playoff but what about this…

I don’t have this ironed out to exact science yet but I think it could have potential… What if College football added two games to the end of the schedule?

Have 2 weeks of “Conference Challenges” i.e. week 1: BIG10/SEC and week 2: BIG10/PAC10 or what ever you wanted to do… similar to the BIG10/ACC challenge in NCAA Basketball… at the end of regular season you match-up top to bottom BIG10 vs. the other 2 conferences you’re locked into that year and have the “Conference Challenge” this would had just 2 additional games and would not affect Bowl Season at all. All Bowls would remain traditional…

I think this would go a long way in narrowing down the possibilities for the BCS game in addition to show truths in conference strength… It would be a time where the BIG10, after beating on each other all year, could come together and compete as a team, so to speak…

I know there are a lot of holes in this idea but I think it could be a starting point.

Please feel free to rip it apart or add to the idea…

I couldn't find a line for this weeks game anywhere, probably because CC is D1 AA.

Anyway... I am in no way qualified to set lines but if I had to place this one I would go with PSU (-52).

I don't know anything about CC but I'm very confident our 1st team offense will score points and being that some of our 2nd team offense has guys that could be first team i think the subs will also score points. The defense is another question but if they give up anything i don't see it being more than a 7points. at (-52), i like the over...

Any thoughts?
