Father/Daughter Coug Fans! I am a 33 year old father of a 3 1/2 year old daughter who loves the Coug's. We watch all of the games together, cheer together, yell at the ref's together, and make fun of the other teams together! This is a great forum for parents and kids to interact together. I read her the blog entries, we track our favorite players - she LOVES Taylor!, and we get ready for the upcoming games. BBAll and Football are our two fav sports, and I have taken her to her first BBall game this year: WSU/UW womens game - lots of fun! Anyway, looking forward to participating in the forum.

Addicted To Quack Attending the UO/UW Game - Any Duck fans taking their kids?

So, big game this weekend, and I gotta tell you - the excitment behind this game for the Ducks isn't relegated to UO alone.  There is nothing that Coug's and Beav's want more right now than to see the Huskies grounded for the rest of the season!

I am taking my 4 year old daughter to the game (she made me promise to take her to this game over a year ago!), especially since I attended the Civil War last year without her!

So, are there any Ducks fans out there bringing their kids?  All our friends here are Husky fans, and we would love some like-minded Duck fans to hang out with before the game!

Thanks!

Paul

CougCenter Beating vs. Discipline (Humor)

I couldn't help myself...   :)

Subject: Beating vs Discipline

Judge gives 7 year old right to decide

Seattle, WA (AP) - A seven-year old boy was at the center of a King County courtroom drama yesterday  when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the  judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his
parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the University of Washington Husky Football team, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

UW Dawg Pound The incomparable 2009 SBN Pac-10 Football Preview

I gotta say...am I surprised the Dawg Pound didn't contribute to this preview, like EVERY other PAC-10 SBNation blog (with the exception of Stanford, since there isn't one?).  No mention is made in the post about why that is, but I think that the DP owes CougCenter a little gratitude, not only for posting for them, but for being EXTREMELY fair in the post with respect to UW.  Maybe John B. can tell the PAC-10 blogosphere why he didn't contribute.  That being said, here's the highlights if you don't want to read it -

Jake Locker picked by SBNATION PAC-10 blogs as the number 5 candidate for the Heisman:

The Huskies likely won't be very good this year, but Locker is an undeniable talent and a dark-horse Heisman candidate. He's a run/pass threat who has been more run than pass so far. If new coach Steve Sarkisian can get his completion percentage up, and the Huskies can win a few more games than people think, Locker has the opportunity to put up some eye-popping numbers.

- CougCenter.com

Huskies Picked to finish 9th in the PAC-10.  However, a very realistic scenario put together by CougCenter, even though I don't agree with it:

Best Case Scenario: Jake Locker stays in the pocket a little more, hits some open receivers, continues to make some plays with his legs, and keeps his leg out of a cast for all twelve games.  The lines on both sides hold up just enough and the Huskies go 5-7.

Worst Case Scenario: Another 0-12 season is unlikely thanks to the scheduled W known as Idaho.  Worst case, the Huskies go 1-11 with a historic third straight Apple Cup loss to the Washington State Cougars.

Likely Scenario: The Pac 10 is down this year, but UW was just flat out bad last year.  It would be a lot to ask to challenge for a bowl game.  The Huskies will most likely beat Idaho, Wazzu, and either Arizona or Oregon at home.  On the road, they could get one from either Stanford or UCLA.  UW ends the season at 4-8.

                                                                                                                                                                              - CougCenter.com

While John may not have felt it necessary to contribute, I think the whole SBNation PAC-10 team did a very thorough job, and put together a very realistic look at the current state of PAC-10 football.  Don't like the way it turned out? - try participating next time.  And take a moment to fully comprehend that CougCenter is saying it IS LIKELY that UW will beat WSU this year.

How do ya like 'dem apples???

Addicted To Quack Kent on the Hotseat

Foxsports has their list of the top College BB Coaches on the hotseat for this year, and Kent came in at #4.

Too bad you guys couldn't get Few...

After this year's contract re-negotiation, do you really think that UO will let Kent go?  What is the final straw going to be for the program with Kent?  Who would you guys rather have running the show for the Ducks?

CougCenter Quietly rooting for Knight...

While I think Bone may be the best fit for WSU, in the long run, I think Knight can do the most good.  I would be stoked to have Bone, but for the sake of argument, let's take a look at what Knight can do for us:

- Xavier Thames would most surely recind his request to withdraw his commitment, and in doing so, would probably guarantee that the other freshman recruits stay as well

- ESPN would give WSU more coverage than we've had since walking into our Sweet 16 game with N.C., and it would last most of the year

- Knight's reputation alone would put him on couches that othe WSU coaches couldn't even get a return call for, which could help poach talent west of the mountains

- If Knight were to take the job, it would most likely be his last, insuring that he isn't likely to jump ship to another program.

- He would continue, and quite possibly raise, the level of academic excellence and standards left behind by the Bennett's.

Is he tough? - yeah.  Can he be fingernail on chalkboard abbrasive? - yeah.  But I'm ok with that, so long as he treats the players and alumni with respect, and he continues to elevate the level of the program.

Don't get me wrong - I would be ecstatic with Bone, but Knight brings that intangible ability to take a program to the next level.

CougCenter A new generation of Coug fans

Just a quick shout out to say hi, and thanks for welcoming us!  There are a lot of reasons why we are Coug fans, but the easiest one to point out right away is that the Bennett's have created a team we can be proud of, and not just as fans.  It's easy for me as a father to be excited that my daughter likes the Coug's - they are a classy team that epitemizes hard work, character, and team.
