Pride Of Detroit No need to draft LB early

A rumor  on ESPN Insider appeared yesterday about some potential LB's we could get. Don't know if we would be interested in either one of them. Bullucks is old but could fill a hole if Follet is not ready. Ayodele looks solid and be around for a few years here is the artical from INsider what do you guys think. Sorry about the copy and paste, but unless your a insider you can not access it.

Immediately after Ernie Sims was traded from the Detroit Lions to the Philadelphia Eagles this week, we figured that the Lions might now go after one of head coach Jim Schwartz's former charges from when he was defensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans, LB Keith Bulluck. We weren't alone, as many pundits made the same connection.

Tom Kowalski of MLive.com confirms that Bulluck is a candidate for the Lions to sign, as is fellow free agent Akin Ayodele, who was a starter for the Miami Dolphins last season.

                              Akin Ayodele  #51

2009 STATSAkin Ayodele
TACK FF INT
71 1 0

 Grade: 68 |
Ayodele had a very solid season in his first year with the Dolphins and his seventh season in the league. He isn't an explosive player in terms of speed, quickness and range but plays hard and wins with toughness, technique and aggression. He is a solid reactor and understands angles and how to leverage the football. He uses his hands well to ward off and separate from blockers and stays active to the pile. He plays with good pad level and maintains body balance in space to be a solid open field tackler. He has limited quickness, speed and agility in man schemes and is best in short zone coverage's. Ayodele is a good football player but appears to have reached his ceiling as an NFL linebacker but brings experience, toughness and stability to the position.

Pride Of Detroit TRADING DOWN

Ok i will start by saying that I will support who ever we draft except, Crabtree.

Needs:

MLB,QB,DT,CB,OG,S

i UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLE WANT STAFFORD, BUT IF THAT HAPPENS WE WILL NEEED WANT TO DRAFT A LT AT 20 IF THAT HAPPENS WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR D. YES OUR D, LAST IN THE NFL LAST 2 YEARS. IF WE BUILD LIKE THAT WE WILL BE THE FIRST TEAM TO GO 0-18 WHEN THE SEASON EXPANDS.

I have been a curry fan for a while and would prefer him. I like to look at all angle and not be bias, but in the end we all are on the same team and want the best for the lions. If thats not the case you need to find a new team PEROID.

I beleive that everyone has been looking at this all wrong. Everyone post and discuss the draft pick and who we should take. First we may not be able to trade the first pick but, you better believe #20 and #33 are gone. Up until now I had been trying to mock and figure it out without trades. Then I realized if we would try to trade down #1 and it didn't and won't happen. So we wil try even harder to make it happen at #20 and #33. It will happen someone will offer and we will jump on it. Just like last year we moved down there will be takers.

So with that being said assume

1-1 Arron Curry-MLB

  • He is more than capable of handling the task.
  • This years Calvin Johnson.
  • Signs for less and before draft.
  • Helps stop run and is good in pass defence and for those who say he will be a bust at MLB he will have help and we will draft DT, and see what the second year guys got.
    Stafford
  • I considered Stafford and the fact is he would be the3rd QB taken next year if he stayed in school.
  • He will have to spend the season on the bench and we still have to pay him.
  • If he did play, because Culpepper gets hurt he won't be ready and will surely will be a bust.
  • Cost will be through the roof.
  • Take a QB late and sit him like Stafford at a fraction of Stafford salary and nothing gauranteed.
    Smith
  • Good pick but,Buckus will be alright and with some good guards avalible in the 2nd-3rd rounds.
  • Their are some questions about how good he will be in the NFL he was a TE turned LT.

Trade down #20---------GET 33-40 IN 2ND ROUND+ 3rd

Trade down #33---------Get44-60 in 2nd +3rd

3rd round------------------1-#65,     2-#82,      3-#65-82,        4-#76-90

2- six rounders

2-seveth rounders

One first , two seconds, and 4 thirds with that we can get the best of both world.

In conclusion last year we scored and hung in most games on offense, but gave up 30+ every game. Never will win giving up 30+ no team could. DRAFT D

The only position that will not be there if we trade down and we will ,is a good MLB and that is the most important position on the team with theworst D in the league.

So settle down draft Curry and fill all holes in the second and third round. Wait till next year to draft a QB.

Pride Of Detroit Draft like lions ,not like millen!!( GO D)

NO more Stafford and no more Smith. Curry will be the monster in the middle of one of the most feared defences in the league..

Build a defence like no other and set a new standard for the draft. Next year everyone will say "do it like the lions did it", go lions.

The way it should go without trading down, which would be best.
