Every Day Should Be Saturday Euro Cup Brackets

ESPN has created a Euro Cup 2012 "Bracket Predictor" which is seems like a pretty awkward title for a thing.

Either way it give you the ability to choose winners in each group and then pick the brackets. In spirit of the off season where there isn't anything better to do I invite you all to join in creating uneducated guesses with me and pitting them against each other to see who knows the least about soccer.

The Group Name: EDSBS

password: cjk5h

http://games.espn.go.com/euro-bracket-predictor/en/group?groupID=2934&entryID=52095

It requires an ESPN free account but if you have ever played Fantasy Football using this thing then you know that you already have one.

Hoffman

Chandler Hoffman

Alabama Native and first Alabamian selected in the first round of MLS here's an article on his selection

it's not the Premiere League but it's something

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/01/oak_mountain_alumnus_chandler.html

more importantly here's Chandler's opinion on Division 1 soccer teams in Alabama

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/12/why_dont_alabama_auburn_have_d.html

I wasn't able to be a part of the debate yesterday but if anyone says we couldn't muster up the talent necessary to compete I would offer this as my counter argument

Roll 'Bama Roll Basketball Ref Mike Stuart

Look I am not a tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist. I hate that crap.

But this guy is pushing the limits of professionalism and the stats against Alabama every time this moron takes the court is astounding.

from rivals tinfoil hats

In our last TWO HOME GAMES against Vandy - they have shot 66 Free Throws while Alabama has shot 27. By the way, we have taken the ball two the rim a LOT more than Vandy has.

from GoodmanCBS on twitter

By the way, told Mike Stuart - ref who hit Anthony Grant tonight - has T'd Grant up each of the last three games he's done.

The stat I'm seeing on the tinfoil hat boards is that we've lost the last ten games Mike Stuart has called - all with the fouls favoring the other team. The tinfoil hats seem to think it's because he is from Tennessee and is a Tennessee fan and blah blah blah.

I don't care about that. Frankly I think he has more of a problem with our coach than our team. Maybe Grant's style rubs him the wrong way. Maybe he doesn't like the way he dresses or cuts his hair. Maybe he doesn't like Coach Grants implied he has sexual relations with his mother, I don't know. But the man does not like our coach.

He's either biased or incompetent and either way I don't want this guy refereeing an Alabama game.

If I'm being a Barner about this tell me so I can take the tinfoil off, but this guy just seems bad at his job.

UPDATED

On JOX they are now saying that the ONLY three times Anthony Grant has been called on a technical in SEC play has been by Mike Stuart though I kind of doubt this I don't have the time to do the research - I only post wild speculation in my anger haha

for reference THIS did not result in a technical from Ref Tim Riggins

Roll 'Bama Roll To Greg

yea this is what happens when your drunk and rewatch the captial one bowl

For Greg

I’m sorry that I have to say this.  But we really did enjoy you.

I know that being the Alabama quarterback brings about the absolute worst parts of being a football player along with the best.  Especially at quarterback.  The least desirable position to be when things go wrong in the state of Alabama.  We’re a team that focuses mainly on defense and running, but when we lose it’s almost always laid on your shoulders.

Roll 'Bama Roll What I learned from signing day.

Now that Cyrus issues are over I can really sit back and take stock of how this years recruiting wars damaged my brain.

1.  Auburn is all about family.  It's their motto and something their fans post ad nauseam.  It doesn't really make sense and no one really gets what they are exactly talking about, but they use the word "family" enough times that you have to think family is important to them.  Unless your family doesn't want you to go to Auburn.  Then fuck what those people think.  Be a man, make your own decision.

Roll 'Bama Roll Wait, Auburn fans did what?

Okay, I understand mocking our Rammer Jammer cheer back at us.  It's an obnoxious cheer that everyone hates to hear because it signifies that your team lost to Alabama and we're being dicks about.  So I understand why Auburn fans throw it back in our face.

I don't like it but I get it.

An especially annoying thing about our Barner neighbors is their willingness to claim every single tradition ever started as something they started.  They invented walking to a stadium and the glory glory song and blah blah blah.  So this tradition rich school would never steal someone else's tradition since they're so good at inventing their own.

Then there is this.

Roll 'Bama Roll World Cup - where to watch?

World Cup is starting up soon fellow hooligans of the bammer variety.

We get lucky with a 1:30 kickoff on Saturday June 12 for the opening match against England - but the next match comes on a Friday at 9:00 a.m. and the final group play match on Wednesday June 23 also at 9 in the morning

A lot of people are going to find work conflicts with the last two games of group play but the opening match is in a great spot where even the non-believers can watch the States take on the Red Coats

Trying to see if there are any places in the Birmingham / Tuscaloosa area where Bama fans are meeting up to watch the games, especially England?

Roll 'Bama Roll Athlon Sports and LSU

If you are an obsessive reader of the summer magazines - like me - you will have noticed on the Athlon Sports website that they have gotten to the number 15 on their ranking, which is Georgia.  That's not the interesting part, the interesting part is that LSU is ranked 24th with Auburn at 22nd and Arkansas at 17th.

Athlon Sports thinks LSU will finish 4th in the SEC west.

Roll 'Bama Roll Allegations of Alabama Cheating

The University of Alabama once again finds itself under the glare of an NCAA microscope. This past week they were once again under suspicion of illegally enticing a student athlete to committing to the University of Alabama.

-

John Dothan, a four star cornerback out of Generic High School, finds himself in the center of an ongoing investigation. The recruitment ofDothan includes offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, and LSU. He has not yet been offered by Alabama.
-
"Honestly I'm surprised by all of this." Dothan responded on a call. "I didn't even know the guy who was giving to me was affiliated with the University of Alabama."
-
The story was reported on by a concerned Auburn fan.
-
"It stinks I tell ya." Bumppy Ringo, a life long Auburn fan said. "I can't believe they would stoop this low. It's that Saban I tell ya. He's a cheater!"
-
Ringo brought to the NCAA's attention that the Student AthleteDothan had found himself in the hospital. Due to a previously unknown birth defect, Dothan's body had poisoned itself severely damaging his kidneys. Dothan was saved by a last minute kidney transplant.
-
That kidney came from long time Bama fan, Jack Denny.
-
"Can you believe a man would stoop that low, just to get a recruit?" Ringo asked on the phone conversation. "Bammer can't get by me, no sir! What are the odds of a man being an organ doner and not knowing when a recruit needs a kidney? You think he ran his car into a tree on purpose? Hell no! It's just Bammers lookin' to cheat some more!"
-
Further incriminating was the Alabama Athletic Department which seemed confused and in a state of shock. Clearly a sign of guilt.
-
Karl Gestapo of the NCAA investigating committee had this to say. "We are looking into this matter thoroughly. Even if there is nothing here to find we will certainly spend months looking into this."
-
Soon we will see if Alabama's football program can be brought to justice.

Roll 'Bama Roll Not trying to piss off MGOblog...

But after seeing the way Rich Rod handled the presser I am really really glad he is not my head coach.  He is of course by the way totally in the right, I mean everyone in the NCAA pushes the limit on practices.  But if Nick Saban was facing allegations against his practices, do you think he would get up there and get teary eyed?

Um...no.  You could tell five year old Nick Saban that Santa Claus had been shot in the back of the head and he wouldn't have reacted that way.  I'm certainly not saying emotions a bad thing and this isn't a "rargh, men act manly and don't cry!" thing.

But did anyone else get the "awkwaaaardd" vibe watching that presser?  Did anyone else ask themselves, "Is that really a head coach defending his practice regimen and getting teary eyed?"

Thank God this guy passed.
