I know he is probably considered a journeyman 4A player, but he has only gotten one cup of coffee in 08, and did alright. Might be worth giving him a chance, he's only 28.

This one is from Hardball Times. It also includes Oakland's top 10 as well.

1 more win and we would have gotten the 19th pick, which of course is not protected, meaning we would lose it if we signed a type A free agent. This is proof that sometimes losing is winning, after all finishing .500 is nothing to be proud of (unless of course your the Pirates).

Now will Selig and Co. do something? That could of taken his eye out.
Talk about a curse. Colvin is one of the Cubs better young players.

Halos Heaven Why we need serious bullpen help.

Listening to the game today,  and posting in the threads,  I got to wondering after the bullpen came in,  why they are making the games so 'exciting' and 'upsetting'.    Well I used the google,  and found me a treasure trove of bullpen stats.   Was I correct in asserting that our bullpen has the worst BB/9 ratio in the american league?  In a word,  No.  We have the worst ratio in ALL OF BASEBALL.   Yep,  that's right.   Worse than the Orioles,  worse than the Pirates,   worse than the Royals.   Our ratio is 5.7/9 .   MLB league average is 3.9/9.

Who is the worst culprit?   I'll give you a hint.   He cost us 5.5 million,  according to baseball reference the most similar pitcher to him is Mike Macdougal,  and fans in Detroit probably don't care that he is gone.   His ratio?   1.   wow.

The calculation is BB divided by IP,   times 9.  The raw data was gathered at this address:  http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/pitching/split/128

I have provided a poll for your enjoyment!

This answers some questions that I had regarding how much money the team is making. Many links to all the other teams too. Interesting stuff.

Darren Oliver in Texas? Jeez, good thing we didn't offer our best reliever arbitration. All the extra work dealing with those pesky draft picks. What's the worst that could have happened? We have him on our team? Darren O'Day last year, Oli this. Bad News.
