Fake Teams Trade Offer Help

Ok I play in a standard 8 person (so much depth) H2H league. I was given this trade offer:

I trade Adam Lind, and Ryan Dempster

For Shin-Soo Choo, and Edinson Volquez

I know Lind has been a beast the last few days and the season is still very young so I'm not sure if he can keep it up or not.  Choo looks better on paper and has struggle the last few days but i still think Choo is better here.

My pitching staff is somewhat weak and i thought if Volquez can rebound of Tommy John he's the better player. I'm not totally sure what to do. My gut tells me accept the trade but i would like to get a second opinion.

Fake Teams First Base

Yes it's late in the fantasy season to be discussing options at different positions but I was just wondering who would be the best choice at first.

Albert Pujols: Amazing player with great power but is he worth number one pick??

Joey Votto: He has it all some speed, power, avg.

Adrain Gonzalez: Gonzalez + Fenway = 50 Home Runs???

Miquel Cabrera: Struggle beginning of spring training but has been on the up since.

Kevin Younkilis: Great pick also at Fenway so leftfield should be rewarding.

Mark Teixeira: Has power early midish round pick.

Prince Fielder: Break out year??

Ryan Howard: Can he rebound from last season?

Adam Dunn: 50 homers??

Buster Posey: Eliglbe at cathcer a great pick.

Justin Morneau: 40 homers isn't put of the question. Always a threat.

Billy Butler: A good player on a bad team. .300 plus avg. 20 homers.

Other names: Konerko, Morales, Huff, Butler

Who do you think has most value at first?

Top 2 guys??

Fake Teams My Fantasy Story

When the snow starts to melt, as the days get longer, as the temperature goes up, and as the first spring breeze tingles up my back I know it is time. It is time to come out of hibernation. I get the first sense of spring, baseball, and warm weather. I'm called to my computer to start the research for a new season. There has not been a MLB pitch thrown since last October.

This is my fantasy baseball story.

Me and a couple of my buddies have been playing fantasy baseball since what seems like the begging of time. To us fantasy baseball is more than a game, it is a sport, a life.  Come every February all we can talk about is baseball, at lunch, (i'm in highschool) on the phone, in class, as much as possible. Throughout the year all you hear us talking about is fantasy baseball. Baseball is truly a passion of ours. I have officially named one of the sports I play fantasy baseball on Facebook.  I research every day, whether the source is a magazine or computer, for hours knowing if I don’t all this time and the season would go down the drain. I would come in a frowned upon last place. In our league instead of prize money we play for a shirt. Obviously the winner takes home the covent shirt that reads "fantasy wiz". On draft day our league all goes on ooVoo a website much like skype so we can discus picks, trades and argue over stats. The day after draft day we go to either the library or McDonalds and continue the trade talk.

     That was my story.

      What's yours?

Pride Of Detroit Funny Lions Jokes

We've all herd them before and all have to put up with them.  Lions jokes I've heard alot as a Lions fan and have to put up with them.  So what is your all time favoritve Lions joke?

Here's mine

Little David is in the 5th grade. Yesterday morning when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living, all the typical answers came up: fireman, policeman, salesman, etc.

The teacher noticed that little David was being uncharacteristically quiet and so she asked him about his father.

"My father's an exotic dancer in a gay bar and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offer's really good, he'll go out to the alley with some guy and do it with him for money."

The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some coloring, and took little David aside to ask him, "Is that really true about your father?"

"No," said David, red faced. "He plays for the Detroit Lions, but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids."

Pride Of Detroit Why Are You A Lion???

Let's take a break from all this talk and hoopla about Kevin Smith or forget about Suh’s hit or Levy’s injury.  Let’s slow down and ask are selves why we are Lions.  Lion's fans have more heart than any other team in the NFL.  A team that went over a year without a win.  Somehow we are still fans after each lost and have hope after each losing season.

So tell me the moment in Lion’s history when you became a Lion for life.

Pride Of Detroit Love It Hate It......NFL Overtime

As most people probably have already heard, the NFL is now making a new rule.  The rule states, that in overtime, and only in playoff games, the team that lost the coin flip would receive one possession,  if the oppsing team made a field goal.  I like the new rule change but i also hate it at the same time.

I liked the old NFL overtime.  Yes, it made you rely on a coin flip to win, but it showed how hard the defense stepped up in big moments...  like the old saying "defense wins games".   Apparently since 1994, teams that win the coin toss have won overtime games 59.8 percent of the time and 34.4 percent of the time on the first possession. How can those stats tell you if the better team won?

"Once you saw the statistics, it became obvious we had to do something." -Bill Polian Indianapolis Colts  president

The NFL is really the only league that does not have specified minutes of overtime.  College football doesn't have an actual overtime, but at least it has an overtime that gives each team a chance to score. So does the NBA, the NCAA tournament, the PGA Tour, Major League Baseball, the NHL, etc.

Some owners did not want to have longer overtime due to injuries which was crap.  But what surprised me was that the Minnesota Vikings voted "no" for the new rule even though they lost to the New Orleans Saints on a game winning field goal that sent the Saints to the Super Bowl.  I was also wondering if that game hadn't gone into OT, would they have made a rule change?

"You need consistency of the regular season and the postseason."-Zygi Wilf Vikings Owner

I guess that overall I like the new coin flip rule.  It makes sure that teams do not have to really on a 50-50 chance to win a game.  I still like the old rule that made defensive players step it up, so will have to wait and see this season how this new rule can play out.

Bless You Boys Ernie Harwell (He’s My Tiger)

"The voice of Detroit" or Ernie Harwell is sometimes proclaimed as one of the best broadcasters baseball has ever seen.  But I think he should be remembered for what he has done for Detroit.  He has done so much for this city and is not only one of the greatest broadcasters but one of the greatest Tigers fans.

-"Ernie is probably the most beloved person who has ever been in Detroit with the Detroit Tigers." -Al Kaline

He broad casted for the Detroit Tigers for 42 years.  Heck, I’m not even that old.  But he is really my Tiger because he has heart.  He got fired by the Tigers in 1991 but he came back to Detroit when he was under contract with the Seattle Mariners in 1999. Ernie really loved Detroit and that’s why I love him.

He was even the first and only (as of now) broadcaster to be traded.  His trade was kind of wacky but here it is…..Earl Mann, President of the Atlanta Crackers, agreed to let him go to Brooklyn if Branch Rickey would send Montreal catcher Cliff Dapper to Atlanta to manage the club.  Hahaha kind of long right.

Ernie will probably be more remembered for his battle with the  incurable cancer of the bile duct.  But even through this illness he has managed to touch Detroit and always will.

I could have just listed the pages and pages of awards Ernie won.  But I didn’t he means more to me than that and means more to the city of Detroit.

Pride Of Detroit The NFL Combine (Overated)

I don’t like the NFL Combine but it is really the first time when an NFL team gets to see their prospects compete against others.  The combine is when players test their strength, quickness, heck even brains.  It is when teams can give their recruits an interview that is different from any interview you have been to.  The interviews are crazy.  Players have reported that there were questions like "Would you rather be a dog or a cat and why?"  But that’s not why I’m mad.  It’s because people go crazy over the 40 yard dash.  Does it really matter if a player runs a 4.46 or a 4.37?  Let me answer that question.  No, it doesn’t.

Heck even Beanie Wells sucked at the combine.  (Again the 40 yard dash.)  His time was 4.59 but at the Ohio State pro day he ran a reported 4.34.  Jaison Williams, who ran a 4.70 at the combine, recovered and ran a 4.49 last year on pro day for Oregon.  But really, does it matter if your 40 time is .12 seconds off what you want it to be?

I also hate the hype.  The combine is already televised on the NFL Network.  Plus, there have been rumors that this thing might go on ESPN. Who really wants to sit and watch a bunch of NFL hopefuls run and lift weights?  You are the one who should be working out instead of sitting on your couch.

Until they put a bench-press on the field I am not going to watch the combine on TV or care if a guy’s 40 (I said it again) time is .16 off what he usually runs.
