Rodney Purvis still committed to UofL
According to an article from the CJ's recruiting expert Jody Demling, Rodney Purvis is still strongly committed to UofL even with the coaching changes. It's still early but this is good news. You can read the whole article here. Hopefully the young man doesn't change his mind as we have all seen the highight videos posted and know the talent he will add to the Cardinals roster in 2012. So here's hoping he is as committed as Wayne Blackshear was.
Another early recruit for Charlie Strong
Again, I know most people don't have ESPN insider so this is the "On The Trail" from the ESPN recruiting site.
Indianapolis offensive lineman Sid Anvoots set for Louisville
The Cardinals have picked up a Class of 2012 commitment from 6-foot-4, 285-pound offensive lineman Sid Anvoots of Bishop Chatard HS (Indianapolis, Ind.).
He becomes the second pledge for Louisville, joining defensive lineman Tyrone Pearson of Seneca HS (Louisville, Ky.).
It's early in the recruiting race and things can always change up, but it's always a positive sign to get a head start.
Cardinal Football Picks up first 2012 recruiting pledge from home
I know most people don't have ESPN insider so i figured I would paste the notes about it from the site. Coach Strong is off to the races early.
Defensive lineman Tyrone Pearson stays home to play for Louisville
The Cardinals have picked up their first pledge for the Class of 2012 in Tyrone Pearson of Seneca HS (Louisville, Kty.).A 6-foot-2, 275-pound defensive tackle, Pearson was also offered by Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Middle Tennessee State, Central Florida, Western Kentucky and Wisconsin.
No more wondering about Jordan Campbell
The article, in a nutshell, says he wont be playing for UofL.
Could Big East Football Schools Break Away?
ESPN's Big East football blogger Brian Bennett, had a link to a very interesting article. Could the BE football schools break away and stand on their own in a new conference? The article makes some solid points in considering this as a real possibility. After reading the article, I actually think this would be a great idea. Basketball would still be strong and football could look at expansion with more quality instead of quantity as far as future teams are concerned.
Here's the link. Share your thoughts.

Jennings Up, Dieng Down ...Injuries are a curse
Dieng's injury doesn't appear to be major, but damn can the players catch a break?
Mascot Edge: Seymour d'Campus wins over the Cardinal bird in a lackluster battle of guys in costumes. If Louisville cannot bother to actually name its bird, it loses out -- even to a hokey name like Seymour d'Campus.
Pat Forde says the bird is the word...er......the bird needs a name atleast.

Late Night Rants... NBA team in Louisville
I'm sure by now everyone as read about Louisville trying (once again) to bring an NBA team to the city. We all know Kentucky is a college basketball dominated state. However, I don't see having a pro team (in any sport for that matter) as being a bad thing. As far as the NBA style of basketball, I'm not a fan. If, with that being said, the state of Kentucky had a NBA representative I would be a fan just on GP. The city will surely use the new arena as well as other things to sell the team on the city of Louisville. Fantastic, but what happens if the team ACTUALLY moves to Louisville.......and here comes the ranting.
If the Sacramento Kings come to the city and they decide to change the team name, then I begin to worry. Not at whether or not the name becomes Louisville or Kentucky so much because The Louisville Kings or The Kentucky Kings would be fine either way. My worry comes when/if the second name is changed. I say this because I'm afraid the choice would be COLONELS like the old ABA days. Sorry but the Kentucky or Louisville Colonels playing in the KFC YUM! Center is just soooo corny It makes me shiver at the thought of it. By the way, I know this is a ridiculous post and I also now it finals week and its 3:30 in the morning so just humor me here. Anyway your thoughts on the whole thing?
Where are they now? Samaki Walker
Just a small article I found on a former Cardinal you might know.

NEW MOTTO FOR CARDINAL FANS "FINISH"
I was heart broken over the loss yesterday. The game started off about as badly as I could have ever imagined. The difference, however, in this team versus last years team wasn't how the game started. It was THE FINISH. This team "played it's balls off" all 4 quarters. That in itself is a victory.
The disappointment I had, didn't come from the field yesterday. It came from the stands. We were still in that game even at the 4 minute mark and I saw people leaving. THAT IS INEXCUSABLE. The crowd yesterday was the loudest I've heard or seen in a long time. I just felt like after that field goal and the kick off all those people that left, just QUIT, when the team needed them the most. So I am saying to all cardinal fans that we need a new motto this year and that motto is simply "FINISH" just "FINISH". You want the players to compete for 4 quarters...... CHEER THEM ON FOR 4 QUARTERS.
As for the rest of the season and the future.......We are headed in the right direction. Thank you to Charlie and the Louisville Cardinal football team for all your hard work. It will pay off. GO CARDS!
Suggestion for Mike and CC
Mike. I love the Card Chronicle. I have a quick suggestion though on something to invest in. You should do a weekly "Where are they now?" on former Cardinals. The story about Rozier made me think of where and what other former cardinals are doing in their lives. I believe that would be interesting and fun for everybody to read. Suggestions would be guys like Carlos Hurt, Eric Brown, and Otis George etc. Former cards from other sports as well would great terrific. Can you make this happen? Thanks for all the good reads to you and everyone that contributes to the CC. READY FOR FOOTBALL! GO CARDS!
