Defending Big D Woywitka > Pardy

*Stands, clears throat* Hi, my name's Troy, and I am addicted to having a whipping boy on defense.

This post is in response to a comment Josh had, about comparing Pardy to Woywitka is irrelevant, because they both suck.

Pardy is terrible

Comparing him to Woywitka is irrelevant. They both suck.

Defending Big D OT: Television shows.

Thought about titling this "Week of 10-03 OT Thread", but didn't want to hijack Graham's thread...

During the Welcome thread a lot of folks expressed their appreciation for Band of Brothers.
I liked Damian Lewis' work as Major Winters, as well as in Life.

Defending Big D Civic Ownership of the Stars

Someone divided the lenders apparent asking price/total readership of DBD and came up with something like $150,000.  A few weeks ago when word was going around about the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan was working on selling their shares in the Leafs, I started wondering.  Can a Toronto/Green Bay style public ownership work in Dallas?

Defending Big D This one is short, there is no jump. Just my overriding concern, that which currently plagues my mind:

When are the boys finally gonna give Kari a shutout?  Sometimes he gives up a softie early and shuts it down late, so those 1 or 2 GAA games are his fault.

On other nights though... Kari is playing lights out, keeping the Stars in it when they have no right... But even heroes get tired, especially when we ride him so hard eventually the other team has to get lucky...

Raycroft has two... Let's get just one for the Lehtter!

Fear The Fin Stars fan with a question for you Sharks fans...

I currently need a bigger boat..., don't kill me <.<;
I don't expect Cheechoo to stick with the Stars, but his tryout brought up a question I should bring to the people who actually know him.  What’s the convention on his Nickname? Cheech? Cheecher? Cheechy? Cheechs? or does it riff of Johnathan? Or does he have a nickname like Bubbles or something?

On a side note, I think Niemi was a good signing for you cats, especially if y'all were determined to get rid of Nabby.  I've always hated facing Nabokov, so I don't know if it's good that y'all cut ties with him.  I can definitely see the allure of going the cheap route, since the last few Stanley Cup champs haven't done it with the big name money goalie.  Lord knows that Nabby and Turco seem to share that stigma of good regular season guys who never got it done in the post season, whether or not it's justified (Marty's 3 SOs in a series loss to Vancouver implies it wasn't his fault totally...).  I'd add Giguerre into that list, but he got it done one year.  Of course, having Niedermayer and Pronger = probable success anyway...

Do y'all feel like Nabby was successful due to your system/quality of defensemen?

Defending Big D Forget Free Agency, this is far more important....

... it's something I initially noticed during the Conference Finals, and only now had time to do a Fan Post on, but there's an even more glaring need we must address.  More important than our obvious poor defensive play and lack of at least one more quality defender.  This detail is even more important than whether or not Lehtonen will perform well next season...
