Canal Street Chronicles Thankful

Watching the Seahawks play the 49ers, hoping Seattle would win so the Saints could have a first round bye, it was obvious that Tavaris Jackson was not going to win the game with 50 seconds left and no timeouts. The last play of the game he overthrew the ball out of bounds. They did not cross the fifty.

So Saint fans be thankful that you have Drew Brees, who will put the ball exactly where it needs to go, Sean Payton who is not afraid to go for it and multiple receivers who make the big time catch.

Thanks!

Canal Street Chronicles First round match up in the playoffs...

Besides beating Atlanta next week and getting the 1st round bye. What do you think is the best first round match up?

1. @Rams

2. @Seattle

3. @San Francisco

4. @Chicago

5. @Green Bay

3. @Philly

4. @Giants

I'm voting for one. I would not want to go to a cold weather state and they just beat the Rams. I kind of want to see them go to Chicago and get a little revenge for the 2006 season.

Canal Street Chronicles Sporting News Magazine drops the ball...

Thursday before the Super Bowl I get my Sporting Magazine. Who is on the cover? Drew Brees and Payton Manning? No. Joe Paterno. Ok. this Thursday I get my Sporting News Magazine. Drew Brees on the cover? No. Roy Halladay Phillies pitcher. Ok. Maybe there's something inside the magazine to make up for this oversight. One two page article and predictions on next year's Super Bowl with the Colts at 1 and Dallas at 2...

Canal Street Chronicles No surprise here...

Watching the Saints all year I didn't feel at any point that they weren't going to win last nights game.

Down by 10 pts. in the first quarter. They came from behind all year... check.

Sean Payton going for it. He's always been aggressive... check.

Converting a 2pt conversion by narrowly crossing the goaline and winning it on review. Didn't Bush do that against the Packers?... check.

Drew Brees ripping apart defenses... check.

The defense coming up with a big turnover... check.

Super Bowl Trophy... check!

It's awesome to have a great team to support. Thanks Saints!

BTW: It's fun listening to how suprised the media is. Where you surprised?

Canal Street Chronicles Best place to see the game...

I live in Portland Oregon and I can't be in Miami or New Orleans to witness Drew Brees work his magic or Darren Sharper light up Peyton Manning. I'm a super huge Saint's fan, I've been a Saint's fan when they had Hebert and suffered though Aaron Brooks. Now I just need to know where's the best sports bar / restaurant in Portland Oregon to take my friends too see the Saints kick ass? Your suggestions would be most kindly appreciated.

Thanks!

Canal Street Chronicles Bend Don't Break - Saints Defense

The Saint's defense gives up rushing touchdowns in the first quarter of 11 of 18 games and in the last two playoff games and it doesn't matter. In years past if they gave up a touchdown that early it was the kiss of death. I'm not complaining, I just think it's odd. Is it the way Greg Williams sets up the defense: bend don't break? The Colts offensive coordinator is going to have a hell of a time coming up with a strategy for beating the Saints defense.
