Gameboard - Fieldtrip & investigative journalism

We certainly are seeing a lot of assumptions regarding the Bradley story and very few facts.  I am proposing an investigative journalism field-trip for Sunday.  I have four bleacher tickets.  I invite two of the following three: Buzz on the Moon, Shawngoldman and CalCalendar and one of the following two: Wreckard, drewisshrewd.  Please note your interest and if it is some other combination that would be fine. If we cannot fill with this group, other observers would be welcome.

Here is what we would do: note the booing, particularly slurs used, summon security when needed and report back to BleedCubbieBllue on Monday.

Al, I know you like your spot but suggest your presence and reporting of observations would also help all of us understand what is going on.  Jessica, it sounds like you are in town.  In addition to it always being good to see you, I am sure many would like to hear about what you see and hear.

Gameboard and Warm-up Balls

Great day in the bleachers today with wonderful weather and the big sweep. Also, I had a chance to chat with Jessica, which was nice.

Let me start at the beginning for those who are not familiar with this.  Between innings, the outfielders warm up with right and center playing catch and the left fielder tossing with someone in the bullpen.  Before the inning starts, the fielder tosses the ball into the stands as a souvenir.  At every previous game I have attended (with an exception I will discuss below) the right and center fielders take turns throwing the ball to the fans.  Today, Fukadome tossed the ball into the stands all nine innings while Bradley never did.  Has this been going on all year?

The exception was Jacque Jones.  On top of his rocky reception by fans, a woman tossed a ball near or at him (depending on the story) during one night game in 2006.  After that he stopped tossing the ball to fans and Juan Pierre want along; they threw the ball to the bullpen after they were done warming up.

On other note: I saw Jones in spring training after that year and asked if he would be tossing balls to fans in the upcoming year.  He said; "It's a new year; let's see" and he did until he was traded later in 2007.

List of Bleacher games that are sold out / Overflow ticket discussion thread

I am starting a new thread to list games where bleacher tickets are no longer available. In the past, this was listed in the virtual waiting room.

Not available June 18, July 11.

Al, feel free to delete if you think this duplicative. I believe, however, it is too hard to pull this information from the nearly 400 post main thread.

Continued good luck to all.  And I repeat Jessica's advice to get six tickets if you get in. Someone will use them and be very grateful to you.

See you in the all-you-can-eat pavilion

I just bought some tickets for game three of the NLCS; that is if the game is Cubs versus Dodgers.  I was too busy buying and noticing how new fees were added on each screen I worked through to care about where I was sitting.  When I received the confirmation, I saw it was: http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/la/ticketing/allyoucaneat_pavilion.jsp

    • Dodger Dogs
    • Nachos
    • Peanuts
    • Popcorn
    • Coca-Cola products
    • Water

See you there.

Peace!  WhistlerWilliams

Arizona - early arrival

I am looking for tips about how to follow the Cubs in Arizona before the spring training games begin. The dates I am interested in are February 21-26.

I think they will be at Fitch park, practicing at that time.  Fitch Park is located at 655 North Center Street. Minor Leaguers also practice at Fitch Park.

I checked the BCB reader guide to Arizona Spring Training but it mainly covers spring training games.

NLDS scorecards

Did anyone keep a scorecard for any of the NLDS games? I am especially interested in the third game. Al, or anyone, please post a link if you did.

I was at game three and my brother kept a partial one.  We got distracted trying to cheer the boys on.

My mom kept some of mine from long ago that I am going to scan, even saw Sandy Koufax one time, and will post if there is interest.

Peace!       WhistlerWilliams
