Real Numbers for Real Colts Fans

Courtesy of my brother,

Apparently he sent it to Mike and (Fat) Mike in the Morning:

I know you are 90 miles from Gillette stadium so ESPN must swing on the Pats cojones but I think the whole nation should hear a few facts.

  1. The pats play in, stat. speaking, the weakest division with only 8 wins (6 of which are the pats).....the colts play in the toughest division with 15 wins and only one loss outside of the division
  2. Yes the pats avg 38.3 pt giving up only 15.3 pt per game. the colts avg 32.8 pt and 17.6 given per game. that is 5.5 more points the pats put up and give 2.3 pts less. Though those are good numbers they are still close and lead me to my next point
  3. looking at the biased ESPN power rankings, the colts have thus far played much more difficult teams. matching up each week colts and pats with their opponents rankings (thus showing how strong a team they played) proved an astonishing fact proven by point #1. the pats played ranked teams of (14,3,29,18,25,3) for an avg of a 15 rank team each week. the colts played ranked teams of (6,14,11,8,9,6) for an avg of a 9 ranked team. Thus the colts play ON AVERAGE teams that are 1.7 times more difficult than the pats. So point 4
  4. adjusting for if the colts played the pats schedule they would have 1.7*32.8= 55.76 ppg and give up 17.6/1.7 = 10.36 ppg. henceforth, the colts put up 17.5 more points than the pats and give up 5 points less.
Take what you want out of this but I think the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS deserve a little more respect. They play harder teams, put up amazing numbers with injuries making them use CFL rookies as their running game. colts v pats is already decided. colts will win in the dome by, looking at the numbers, 10 points. Have you ever been to the dome? the noise messes with your mind!
