Cincy Jungle QB Discussion

Just throwing this out there (pun intended), but lets talk QBs.

Tell me your thoughts on Palmer, Lefevour, QBs in the upcoming draft, Vince Young, and any other QB possibilities.

Palmer has been my favorite player since he became the starter.  I told my brother that, with all the new weapons, this was a make or break year for him.  So far, it's leaning toward "break."

I think that, with the playoffs out of reach, it's about time for Lefevour to get a shot.  He should start against New Orleans after this week's Jets game (an extra few days of practice and prep).  We'll see if he has any potential.  If so, maybe it's something they can work with.  If not, a few more losses won't hurt anyone and they know to start a bona fide QB search.

I bring up Vince Young because he could be out of Tennessee:

We all know how popular Cincinnati is for second chances and redemption.

Discuss.

Cincy Jungle Blow up the Bengals?

James Walker @ ESPN suggests that the Lewis/Palmer/Ochocinco trio has failed to deliver and it's time to move on, particularly in light of their contract situations.  The comments are mixed, with some people agreeing and some people thinking that Mike Brown is the problem and real success won't happen until he's out of the picture.  Thoughts?

Cincy Jungle Mike Martz in Chicago makes me cry a little

Obviously there are a lot of factors that change year to year, but I look at the improvement that has happened in Chicago with Mike Martz as offensive coordinator and can't help but be a little jealous.  You can see the change in attitudes and play calling.  Against Dallas, Cutler was being chased all over the field, and they switched to a lot of quick passes on 1 and 3-step drops.  A simple adjustment, but something that doesn't seem to happen in Cincinnati.  And the improvement has come using Cutler (a great QB), but also a fairly mediocre WR corps.

I can only imagine how things would have improved in Cincy if Martz replaced Bratkowski and had Palmer, Ocho, TO, Benson, Shipley, and Gresham to play with.

Cincy Jungle Quarterbacking

What's the thinking behind picking up LeFevour?  Is he supposed to be a project QB that will be fully developed in a few years around the time Palmer is on his way out?  Did we just need a third QB after letting go of O'Sullivan?

Carson is my favorite player, but I'm just thinking that if the passing offense doesn't get it's act together by the end of this year and maybe a few games into next year, then there'll be a legitimate question as to whether he can still be the guy.  If that's the case, I'm wondering if people think LeFevour can be a starter or if the team will have to sign a free-agent veteran or draft some new guy.

Poll
If Palmer doesn't return to form by the start of next season, what happens?
They stick with Palmer. They're still too invested in him.

If LeFevour looks halfway decent, he'll get a shot.

Cincy Jungle OFFSEASON REFORMS

1.  Cut Shayne Graham.

2.  Fire Bratkowski (hardly any playaction was used against the Jets. Benson was running so well. Use it to pass! That was the strategy for the season.)

3.  Work Chase Coffman up to starter status.  Don't just work on it.  Make it a priority, make it happen.

4.  Sign a good receiver (Boldin, Marshall, Owens could be available.  Yeah, that includes a couple divas, but Owens knows he at coming to the end of his career and was on good behavior in Buffalo.  He's a little older but is still the type of threat Cincy needs.)

Yeah, I'm in a funk about the loss, so posting these is in part a form of catharsis.

Cincy Jungle Possible tight end trade

In addition to reading Cincy Jungle, I browse some of the SB Nation blogs, including Hogs Haven (as I am a D.C. resident).  Anyways, I came across this post:

Since the Bengals are in need of solid, pass-catching tight end, I was wondering what you guys thought of the possibility of trading a 2nd round pick for either Cooley or Davis.
