Alex Morgan links
Embedded in this recent Olympics ESPN story, are two links to our favorite soccer Bear.
Alex's future was looking bright when this was published in 2010.
And her personal website is here.
Check it out!

If you can't make it to San Diego
[Twist: I wanted to put this up on the front page here, so people can maybe help finalize plans for viewing parties. Have fun!]
If you can't make it to San Diego, then you must be UCLA! :)
On a very serious note, let's say you have pre-planned family commitments for the holidays that keep you out of the San Diego area. Where can you go to enjoy the game, amongst the vibrant and festive company of fellow Bears?
The Cal Alumni Association has a good start here. There are viewing parties in Irvine, Pasadena, Lake Tahoe, Pleasanton, Washington D.C., and Arlington Va. That's great--Northern and Southern California, the D.C area, and perhaps a bit of Nevada. But how about the other 48 states?

Not to mention the rest of the world, fellow Golden Bears in Europe, Japan, and elsewhere!
Myself, I'll be north of Baltimore, a bit of a drive from DC or Arlington. Closest seems to be Sign of the Whale, and they
Warning - this place gets crazy at game time! Over 200 Cal fans pack the bar for every Cal football game! We have yell leaders, sing fight songs, and have a great time!
DO NOT wear red at SOTW during viewings - we will not be nice to you :)
The D.C. Bears are very organized. They also have a Family Friendly location: Bailey's Sports Grile in Crystal City:
Come root for the Bears in a very fun, but less wild setting. Children, and Bears under age 21, are welcome at this location!
Go Bears! Beat the Longhorns!

Cal is #19, 13 commits, 2 from ESPNU 150

Alysia Johnson Montano 4th in 800 at World Championships
Former Cal Star Has Highest Finish Ever for U.S. Woman in Event
0.06 seconds out of the medals. Look for her in London!
What might have been
Lions vs Pats. Could have been Jahvid vs Shane. Alas! But, hopefully we'll see them in the regular season.
Guys,
Serious problem with the SBNation iPhone app. If you've seen it, you know. If not, stay away, lest you risk temporary blindness.
Yes, the functionality is there. And you can set a marker for CGB. But the color scheme is RED, and you can't change it! You'd have to read CGB in RED!
Besides that, it's an ugly interface. Must have been designed by some engineer.

Mike Morrison Wins NCAA Decathlon Title
June 10, 2011
DES MOINES, Iowa - Senior Mike Morrison captured the NCAA decathlon title with a school-record 8,118 points Friday, setting six personal bests along the way, at the national track & field championships Friday morning. Morrison becomes the fourth Golden Bear to win the decathlon crown in school history.
Jahvid Best 51 yard run
It's a sick run! Immediately followed by a 10 yard pass reception. But in college he would have made it all the way to the goal line. I watched this video several times, and still am amazed that he was caught.

Note: This link didn't work for some of my computers. You always get the ad first, but not always the followup video.
