According to several sources, Sergei Gonchar's rights have been traded to the Sharks. This isn't terribly surprising that Gonchar's rights have been traded. After all, contract negotiations have been ongoing since November. And it was pretty clear cut that Gonchar's rights were going to be traded. But I certainly didn't expect the Sharks to be in the mix.

As a Sharks and Penguins fan, I am cautiously optimistic. There's lots to like about Gonchar, and he clearly has 2-3 more solid years to give. However, is he a good fit for the team? Does DW think he can sign Gonchar to a multi-year deal for less than the $5 million he was seeking from Pittsburgh?
