Hornets extend offers to Carl Landry and Jason Smith

There will be plenty more to come here on the new faces we'll be seeing this year, but now we have some news that we could be seeing a couple familiar ones return to NOLA. Per Jimmy Smith of the Times-Picayune, The Hornets have extended contract offers to PFs Carl Landry and Jason Smith, both unrestricted free agents who were with the Hornets last season. Smith quotes the agent for both players saying they could decide on signing the offers as early as tomorrow.

All Hornets Games to be Televised

For the first time (I believe) since the team moved to New Orleans, every one of the Hornets 2011-12 games will be televised locally. CST and the Hornets announced today that CST will televise 65 of 66 regular season games, with the 66th game being the Hornets' lone national broadcast in April against the Knicks on TNT. Of course this is due to the shortened season, but is still undoubtedly good news for Hornets fans in the New Orleans area.

Report: Chris Paul's agent requests trade to Knicks; Times-Pic Denies

Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc Spears of Yahoo! are reporting that Chris Paul's agent has informed the Hornets that he will not sign an extension with the Hornets and wants to be traded to the New York Knicks. I've been downplaying this stuff so far, but now the circus begins. Excuse me while I go have a drink or ten. UPDATE: John Reid of the Times-Picayune says that Chris Paul has not requested a trade to the New York Knicks, according to two league sources. Welcome to the soap opera that is now your lives, Hornets fans.

Hornets Preseason Schedule Announced

Multiple sources at the Hornets practice facility are reporting that the Hornets will begin actual basketball action (albeit of the preseason variety) Dec. 16 in Memphis, with their much-anticipated return to the Hive happening Dec. 21. As has been reported before, there are only 2 preseason games this year due to that lockout thing, which means these two games could be very important to whatever guys are fighting for a shot to make the roster.

Hornets Extend Qualifying Offer to Marco Belinelli (and not Jason Smith)

From Jimmy Smith at the Times-Picayune: "The New Orleans Hornets have picked up the option of starting shooting guard Marco Belinelli, but have decided not to tender an offer to forward Jason Smith, making him an unrestricted free agent, league sources said Thursday afternoon." Apparently Dell Demps agrees with the assessment Rohan made today about Marco. He effectively becomes a restricted free agent, with the Hornets having the opportunity to match any free agent offer that he may receive. If not, he'll earn 3.377 million next year with New Orleans.

Can Aaron Gray be the difference for the Hornets down the stretch?

Your Take: Can Jarrett Jack succeed as a backup PG?

With the Hornets' bench looking rather pathetic in the last few games, I began to think, yet again, about the struggles of Jarrett Jack to perform well in a backup capacity. After having some very...
