What to do with Beachy?
I'm curious as to what people think about Brandon Beachy. The DL stint could be a little worrisome but he's looked awesome ever since (exception being the Phillies game). Even on a pitch count he's getting quality starts and a ton of Ks. I'm in a full keeper league and I guy offered my Carlos Martinez for him. My pitching is good enough I could probably get away with doing the trade but I hate waiting around for a couple years for Martinez when Beachy is dominating now.
FYI my league is a standard point based league that starts 5 SPs and 2 relievers. We have 6 minor league slots.
Do I sell high and go for the stud or keep the current stud? I'm a Braves fan but I always fall in love with these "uber" prospects.
Derek Holland fantasy Q
I have a few guys coming off the DL and need to cut some roster space and I'm looking to do a two or three for one deal. All guys are players I'll drop if I have to but would rather try and get something out of them a few weeks before. What do you guys think about Derek Holland as a long term keeper?
I know coming up he was projected to be a #1/#2 type pitcher and I'm curious after a season and a half what you guys think of him now. Any advice would be really helpful, thanks. One guy I'm trading is Jemile Weeks FYI. Not sure I can hold onto him with Cano ahead of him on my roster but ideas on him would be great too.
*added*
The trade would be:
Lackey, Bedard, Weeks and Headley
for
Holland.
Like I said, these are guys I'll drop eventually when I get David Wright, Heyward and Josh Johnson back. Also gives me the room to call up Bumgarner potentially.
Bauer or Bundy?
Strictly for fantasy purposes, who do you take? Obviously Bauer will make the show earlier, but does Bundy's ceiling make the difference? I have the 3rd pick in our minor league draft for my league and the two picks ahead have already announced Cole and Rendon. I wouldn't mind a bat (Lindor/Starling) but I'd rather have the upside of Bundy or the speed to the big leagues in Bauer.
What do you think?
Cahill or Gio
Who do you guys like more long term for fantasy? Cahill had a career year last year and I think the Ks will come but Gio is already getting them, still keeping a low ERA and getting wins. Cahill is younger though. Thoughts? I have a deal lined up where I have to give up one of these players and I need to hurry and get it done. Shelby Miller is still available and I need to grab him to throw into one of my minor league slots.
Stupid fantasy question
I have two minor league spots opening up and I'm curious who people think the best option is. For the record I do have time to wait on prospects if needed.
Available:
Tyler Matzek
Jameson Taillon
Matt Moore
Kyle Gibson
And others...
Who should I get? Also I could just create a placeholder for Anthony Rendon.
I know the fantasy posts are annoying, sorry. Any input would be appreciated.
Bar bets...Weiters vs. Heyward
So one of my buddies is an Orioles fan. He's also a fan of making really weird, but usually pretty entertaining bets. The stakes are rarely money, i.e. beer, buffalo wings, dinner, dollars you have to put in a keno machine for the other guy, etc. I know I'm rambling but entering the 2006 season I was puffing up about how good Brian McCann was and how many HRs he was going to hit. I "guaranteed" 25 HRs which was crazy but the bet was born. So basically an over/under of 24.5 HRs. Loser had to wear an adult diaper out on the town for a night of drinking...implied part of the bet was you couldn't take them off...
Anyway, the bet he's calling for is his super stud Weiters vs. my Braves' Heyward. We want to come up with five categories as even as we can think of and the guy who wins the most categories wins. I'm looking for suggestions. Any offensive categories are in play. Their positions are so different we figured we couldn't do any defensive numbers.
Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated and I will post the terms of the bet once it's been made.
Delmon Young
I know it's early in spring training but Delmon Young is raking. In seven games he's hitting .526 (.789 SLG) in 19 ABs with 2 doubles, 1 HR, 1 SB and 5 RBI (15 TB). He hasn't walked yet but he hasn't struck out yet either. Also, he was robbed of extra bases in the first yesterday against Kazmir. With Span and Cuddyer hitting .111 and .188 respectively, maybe Delmon actually gets a starting job.
I know this is an extremely small sample but do you think Delmon might finally be putting it together? With all that talent, I hope he is.
