Ron Bartell vs Fletcher
The odd thing about the game against JAX is that all day they passed against Bartell. The only time you knew Fletcher was on the field was when they ran to the right. Let me see if I have this right. We have a rookie CB on the one side and JAX spends all day testing CB Bartell, the veteran. This does not speak highly of Bartells skills. The truth is in plain sight. Bartell is the weak link. I hadn't really looked at his play before now.
Barron Performance-game 5, Vikings
Alex Barron, by all accounts, seems to have had a good game against the Vikings. He kept the Vikings Jared Allen without a single sack or even a hit on our quarterback. Allen, the previous week, had 4.5 sacks. So Barrons performance is astounding.
But did anyone else notice that before the game Ritchie Incognito was jawing at Barrons competition, Mr Jared Allen? I've wondered if our resident psyco didn't tell Allen that his friend Alex Barron has his job on the line and that if Allen gets to showing off against Barron that maybe Allen would have an accident with his knees.
This is total supposition on my part. I can't read lips. But it makes more sense to me that Allen could have been intimidated into easing up, than that Barron actually bested this guy Jared Allen. I suppose Incognitos words with Allen could have been purely cordial. And maybe Allen eased up out of a basic sympathy for Alex Barron; thats something we commonly see in football. But ones common sense should tell you why Barron had a good game.
I figure though that Incognito is not going to be able to save Barrons career with similar appeals to all of Barrons future opponents. Lets see how he does next week
