My Thoughts on this Cowboys "Win"

First of all, this had to be one of the absolutely most difficult and miserable Cowboys games to watch in a long time. At the beginning of the game we played with absolutely no heart and no discipline. In the end, I couldn't help but find myself saying that neither of these teams deserved a win. On offense, the Cowboys moved the ball fairly well only to eventually shoot themselves in the foot over and over again. This had to of been one of Flozell's worst games in a lonnnggg time, and he has had some bad ones recently. When he is not committing the most inopportune penalties, he is getting beat badly and showing awful technique. Some positive notes: (1) T-Choice is the REAL deal, the dude has moves and shows us over and over again that he can carry the load of an every down running back; (2) Miles Austin is one slippery dude.

On the defensive side, Ratliff and Brookings are absolutely inspirational to watch. Did anyone else see Brookings running down the side-line when the offense was on the field. The dude is a leader that we so desperately need on this team. Ratliff, what can I say, he is a dominating force out there and plays all out every play. D-Ware, great to see him finally get some sacks but I want to see a more dominating game out of him. Also, I am becoming more optimistic about Jenkins every game.

With all the good, comes the bad. The Chiefs were absolutely miserable and we should not have let them stay in this game. Prior to the game-tying drive at the end of the game, their best offensive weapons were the guys in stripes. We have to quit committing the most annoying and easily correctable penalties (offsides??? it felt like every other defensive snap). With that said, for the Refs not to call the helmet to helmet on Romo down in the redzone was pretty inexcusable with how closely they have called every other "touching" of the QB. I disagree with the rules...but if they are going to call it, it sure would be nice for us to get the benefit of a call every now and then. Second, the call on Alan Ball was questionable at best. When it happened I was worried about a flag, but when they showed the replay I was floored. It looked like a clean shot to me, but what do I know.

A lonng rant I know, but in the end, a Win is a Win. I just know we won't win many more if we play like we did this past Sunday.

P.S. - I didn't even bother to mention the special teams turnovers. That has to stop...and stop now...period.

Kickoff time has been moved back 19 minutes to allow for additional time for the larger than expected crowds to make their way into the stadium. For those lucky enough to be there, I cannot wait to hear everyone's experiences. The shots of the crowds cramming into the standing room only areas are ridiculous. Huge game tonight...let's go out there and get this one tonight and silence a lot of the critics. HOW BOUT DEM!!!

'08 Draft Strategy

What positions should the cowboys improve upon with the two first round picks?

The way I, and most other cowboys fans, see it, there are three "needs" that should be addressed in this years drafts. With two first round picks we have the flexibility to address at least two of those needs with quality players who hopefully will be able to come in and make an immediate impact. My question is which of those three positions should be addressed with the two first round picks? I tend to agree with those that say we should draft a cornerback and a running back in the first round. I feel like this draft class at WR does not have a large number of players that can come in and make an immediate impact. Don't get me wrong, I think there is a good amount of talent at WR I just feel that players such as Devin Thomas, Early Doucet, or Lavelle Hawkins are players that will have to be brought along over time. Just wanted to see what the rest of you guys thought. That and I am extremely bored and can't wait for the draft.

I was callled out in a post on Acme Packing Company...

I certainly do not expect any visits from Packer fans serving up humble pie. Seems like the immortal Brett Favre is quite capable of mistakes in the post season himself. Karma is a b*tch.

Is what I feel today...

What is really a shame about this whole situation is that Romo is going to get a lot of the blame for the disappointing loss. Romo played a decent game. Unfortunately we needed a great game out of Romo to make up for the mistakes made elsewhere on the field. The one stat that I feel was most important about this game...penalties. Cowboys 11 for 84 yards. Giants 3 for 25 yards. This stat doesn't really reflect the fact that so many of our penalties came on key plays that no doubt would have changed the flow of the game. On the plays that mattered most we made stupid mistakes that cost us the game. I know it tears each one of us up to do it but we can do nothing but give the Giants credit for winning the game against us that mattered most. The "STARS" in Dallas sports need to start realizing that while we all appreciate the enjoyment they give us during the regular season, its the post season that matters!!!

Skip Bayless is Just Ridiculous

Just watched ESPN2's First Take and Skip Bayless is absolutely ridiculous!

In a segment discussing whether the Cowboys won the game or the Lions lost it (which by itself is purely ridiculous because both the Cowboys won the game and the Lions lost the game) Skip Bayless talked about how Romo is the luckiest QB in the league and that his luck is the only reason the Cowboys have been this sucessful. He says that every "bounce" has gone Romo's way this season and that is the only reason we are winning games.
Well first of all, we all know how "objective" Skip Bayless is as a "reporter." Check out the titles of some of the books he has authored. But seriously, just because he is a Cowboys hater does he have to be blind to the fact that something special is truly happening in the Big-D! In any case, T.O. (who Skip has nicknamed "Team Obliterator) is slated to make an appearance tomorrow on the show which should be quite an interesting watch. Can't wait to see how T.O. hands it to Skip!

It seems that fate is not only shining on the Boys but also on their fans. My mom was lucky enough to win tickets through a raffle at our local Grocery store to the game against the Packers on Thursday!!! Knowing how big of a fan I am...she was nice enough to give me a ticket. I will post a diary after the game relating what it was like in Texas Stadium (AKA Mecca). After the game on Dec. 16th against the Beagles...I will have gone to 4 of the 8 home games this season. Biding time until I can afford my season tickets...though with the announcement on what those are going to cost in the new stadium I am beginning to doubt I ever will. Who knows though, fate may shine on me again!
