Big Blue View Tim Tebow - and the next 2 weeks

The question was posed how ESPN will bring up Tim Tebow in the next 2 weeks. I have one plausible connections.

Big Blue View My day at Metlife Stadium(All access)

Our adventure started when my dad won a $20 raffle to go see the giants and recieve all access passes.  Now my dad never wins anything and as two die-hard Giants fans.  We were pretty psyched. Things we got to do that day:

See the entire stadium minus the locker rooms, be on the field for pregame warmups, we saw the TV control room, the Radio booth, met Carl Banks and Bob Papas, walked past Jerry Reese and John Mara outside their booth.  And most importantly, saw the Giants get a W.  For the details and photos, read after the jump.

Big Blue View Bury the Boys

Wade Phillips is still running his trap about there season not being over, mostly because they have 2 games left against the Eagles and our beloved Giants.  And if they win those games, that is like 4 wins, since we are tied for first.

So I say let's bury their hopes and dreams this Monday night, so this yammering stops.  They are overrated and have been all year.  Last week's power rankings had the Boys only 4 spots behind the Gmen at least this week the media is coming to their senses a little bit.

I know Power Rankings are meaningless it is a personal pet peeve.

Regardless, Let's bury their season this Monday night.

Cincy Jungle Draft

Hello Cincy Jungle,

I'm a member of the Giants blog Bigblueview.  Over there, we are having a mock draft.  I'm representing Cincy.  I'm not that familiar with your roster.  I'm here looking for suggestions on team need by position and if you are a draftnik best fit for your team.  Positional need would help to evaluate the board when it gets to the pick.  I'm just trying to best represent in the mock draft.

Thanks for your help and time.

Big Blue View Funny analogy

I work in education, I’m a teacher and we have a lot of transient staff in the form of Teaching Assistants (TA).  We get many college age kids that are working on an education put in a year or two as TA’s.  So there is a fair amount of overturn in our staff from year to year.

Fake Teams Top 50

I have 13 of the top 50 players in my league

I figured we'll discuss who's start is for real and who's is not.

3) Orlando Hudson

8) Cano

10) A. Gonz

12) Billingsley

13) Longoria

19) Vernon Wells

23) Adam Jones

25) Nick Swisher

36) Broxton

39) Inge

47) Lincecum

48) Jason Kubel

50) Adam Dunn

I think Cano's start is for real, he looks like a different player at the plate this year.  A Gonz, and Longoria.   Lincecum, and Billingsley will probably end up top 50.

I'm not confident in any one else to be top 50 by the end of the year.

Your thoughts?

Big Blue View Grading our mock

I went through and looked at our mock draft.  We got 5 picks our of 32 right.

CJ screwed it all up by taking Smith first.  We might have gotten a few more right if he had started us off right!

We shouldn't feel bad though,  I read that the best mock draft out there only got 10 of 32.  So for not being experts I think we faired alright.  Besides We got the Raiders pick right by accident.

Fake Teams Should I

My pitching has been sub-par

We play in a strange scoring system.  W's for a pitcher are 10 points, where strikeouts are 2 each.  My starters are 7-10.

I'm still in first because my hitting has been abover average.

Here is my roster.

C: Bengie Molina

1B: Adrian Gonzalez

2B:  Cano

3B: Longoria

SS: Cabrera

OF: Sizemore

OF: Wells

OF: Adam Jones

DH: Kubel

Utl:  Orlando Hudson

Bench:

Adam Dunn

Jermaine Dye

Inge

Swisher

Choo

Guerrero DL

SP: Lincecum

SP: Peavy

SP: Lee

SP: Pettite

SP: Scherzer

SP: Billingsley ( he was on waivers i dropped Dice K)

RP: Papelbon

RP: Broxton

RP: Downs( Had BJ Ryan)

RP:Soriano

I've been trying to package swisher with someone but can't get any hits.  Should I try for any trades, or just wait out my pitchers starting to get Wins?  I'm new to fantasy baseball.

Big Blue View March Madness

I know there was a Big Blue View Fantasy Team this season.  I always love doing March Madness Brackets.   I started a yahoo group for Big Blue view Pick em.

The group ID is Group ID #19276

Hopefully we can have a big turnout and trash talk about it here.   Pride is on the line,  since I can't wager anything related to the site :P

I just thought it could be fun,  not football related but sports related.

Big Blue View A-11 Offense faces potential ban

It is only around because a loophole in a HS level rule.  But why stifle innovation to the game?

I think they should alter the rules to say if everyone on the field is eligible then you need to be set to start the play by a certain time on the play clock, otherwise it is a delay of game.

I think that would even the playing field.  I'm all for trying to evolve the game.

Big Blue View Worst Bet Ever(Possibly NSFW)

This may not be safe for work.   I don't remember if they drop an F bomb or not.

This is not purely Giants news, however it is football and blog related and ends with an Eagles fan getting bashed in the face with a cookie sheet.

I read Deadspin on occassion and the old editor is a Cardinals fan, and new editor is an Eagles fan.  They are friends outside of the site as well it seems.

They did a mayor's bet about the championship game

The Eagles fan bet

1) A sushi dinner

2) Would take a cookie sheet to the face from the winner of the bet

3) Would get a tattoo of a buzzsaw(what the Arizona fan refers to the Cardinals as)

He went through with it all.

http://deadspin.com/5137239/and-lets-get-bashed-in-the-face

That's the cookie sheet to the face.  It is totally sophomoric, however I bet cjm and the rest of the Gmen fans that live outside Philly would enjoy seeing an Eagles fan take a cookie sheet to the face.  Moral: Never bet on a football game.

I'll save you the link to the tattoo.

Big Blue View Observation

We were discussing the game today and he pointed out that we were 4-1 against the teams left in the playoffs this year during the regular season.

We beat Arizona handily.

We beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

We beat the Ravens down hardcore.

And we split with the Eagles until the playoffs.  That makes that lose so much more painful.  I thought I'd share the observation because I wonder if it's happened before.

Stupid Gilbride and his idiotic game plan.

Big Blue View Eagles Bandwagon

Has to be overflowing!  I've seen two broadcasters or ESPN employees pick the Giants,  everyone else minus Strahan has picked the Eagles.   Strahan didn't pick, saying it really is a toss up.

It is like the Reese went out and found 53 hobos on the street and suited them up.  That is how little respect the Giants are getting with the mainstream media.  It's not like we won the superbowl last year or anything.

God, I hope this motivates the team to no end.

Big Blue View Fantasy Week 12

I was thinking of having a weekly fantasy post to discuss matchups and get feedback from fellow bloggers who do fantasy on who to start/sit.

Think of this as our Start em / Sit em section.

We normally talk about them in the open threads so I thought having one centrally located post could/would be useful.

My idea is that you post your roster in the comment section, and then replies can be specific to each blogger's roster.

Big Blue View Wish I was this Delusional

I went over to Bloggin the Boys,  I know what was I thinking.  I found this quote

"If Romo was in this would've been a win

and the defense would’ve looked dominating."

Um what game was he watching?  At least Terry admits that the game would have been more competitive if Romo had played.  Romo does not automatically mean they win, he was not protecting the football very well either.

Just plain delusional. I mean seriously?

Apparently, Winslow might miss the game on monday because of swollen testicles.

That's not a good one for ye olde resume.

In all seriousness, I hope everything turns out ok. I'm just guessing you have to take more than just IB for that.

Big Blue View My Love/Hate Relationship with the NFL

First off I love that any team can win on any given sunday.  The parity in the NFL makes for grand drama and a live or die menality.  The relatively short 17 week nfl season also makes every game important.

What I hate about the NFL is the preseason hype and BS predictions.  I know we are only 5 weeks in but things are already looking drastically different then the 'experts' predicted.  Some of that is due to injuries some is just teams being overhyped.  Every year there is at least one team that is picked to go to the Super Bowl and then is a total dud.

Before this season the Vikings were the talk of the town.  About how Adrian Peterson's sophomore season was going to be the year.  Yes he is great, but you need a QB that does more then manage the game.  So far at 1-3 they are looking to be a dud.

The Cleveland Browns,  In the interest of full disclosure I was hopeful that the hype around this team was true.  All my roommates in college were from Ohio and Browns fans.  But with 5 or 6 scheduled Nationally televised games and a record of 1-3 and a nightmare schedule.  This team is looking like it will have a much worse record then last year's 10-6, and there is already talk of a QB change.

The hated Patriots have been brought back down to earth somewhat with the Tom Brady injury,  but when that injury took place it was suddenly the Jets, because of Brett Farve, that were the contenders to dethrone the Pats.  While the Bills quiety have accumulated a 4-1 and the AFC East lead.

My beloved NY Giants got zero respect during the off season and now are the last remaining undefeated NFC team.  I know some of this is from a soft opening schedule,  but we are looking as dominant as ever.  Part of why the Giants do not generate any buzz is their superstars are for the most part quiet and humble and play with a team first attitude.

Players generate more buzz for their teams having them on it, then the actual teams performance.  Some of the teams with the best records in the league right now have no name stars(Giants, Titans, Bills, Redskins)  Whereas all the media does is focus on the Farves of the league.  Jets, Colts, Chargers, Cowboys only one of those teams is off to a great start and they have the traditional superstars.

The team concept will never win out over big names, not in this era of Fantasy sports and media driven drama.  I don't blame them it makes for good TV.  I just wish for younger people watching the game they would rather emulate the faceless stars who just go out every Sunday and bust their butts for their team and win.  Then the TO's and the Farves of the league.
