Man, I have been waiting patiently for this game and I'm disappointed it won't happen Thursday. Aggies dodged a bullet thanks to the hurricane. LaTech is a pretty darn good team. Last year they barely lost conference winner So. Miss. 19-17 and almost beat UH, losing 35-34. They also played very well against TCU losing by a mere 7 points. http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/schedule/_/id/2348/year/2011/louisiana-tech-bulldogs

If Aggies lose to Florida in their opener nobody will laugh too loud. They should breathe a sigh of relief. La Tech actually is in SEC country.

ESPN Reporting that Sanctions to Be Announced Tomorrow: Not Death Penalty

Apparently 10 days after the Freeh report hammered Penn State Administrators and legendary coach Joe Paterno the statute has been removed.

Tomorrow the sanctions against Penn State are to be announced. I've been completely This article is really interesting because a former NCAA chairperson explains why any sanctions would be completely groundbreaking and he makes some good points about why the NCAA should not be involved in penalizing Penn State.

I've been pretty vocal and certain that Penn State should receive the death penalty, but this story makes me take a second thought about it. The former chairperson's explanation that sanctions are for teams getting a "competitive advantage" by their misconduct, be it paying players, players cheating, cheating in recruiting, etc. But, for strictly criminal conduct by school officials, sanctions have never been implemented and there isn't any NCAA rule that was broken unless they claim it is "lack of institutional control." Even then, the lack of control has always been to protect teams from the cheaters trying to get an unfair competitive advantage.

Plenty of coaches have commited crimes. Look at HC of Missouri Gary Pinkel's recent DUI. Mizzou didn't get any NCAA sanction. Heck, Arkansas Petrino was even worse with his affair with an employee within the Athletic Dept.

Should the NCAA be handing out sanctions for criminal conduct that isn't related to an athletics team getting an advantage? And, if the NCAA does seriously punish Penn State, do they appeal ? Talk about a no win position for Penn State. Clearly the sooner they get this over with the sooner they can start healing and moving along.

I think the NCAA needs to be careful if the force Penn State to challenge the punishment for being too severe. Hopefully the announcement will be that Penn State and NCAA have agreed on a "punishment" and process to address this unprecedented situation. Thoughts?

Today is the final day of living with Misery in our rocking Big XII conference. I have a reality check for them and a few things I've been wanting to say.

Today is the final day of living with Misery in our rocking Big XII conference. I have a reality check for them and a few things I've been wanting to say.

The divorce is about to be finalized and I have a few things to say to you, Mizzou. So, with that said, let’s get some facts clear about this here divorce being final.

Mizzou is leaving the Big XII with exactly 0 Big XII football Titles. Sadly, during this 15 year marriage Mizzou managed to win only 3 Big XII North division titles. Needless to say, the list of Mizzou achievements being mentioned at RockMnation would be embarssing to any other football program, but not you Mizzou, bless your little hearts. So, feel free to look back on 15 years to remember a couple of nice plays instead of big wins, conference championships, and those all elusive national championships. You see, talking about big plays only matters in big games, but you were never there. Texas fans can talk all day about VY running past USC into the endzone for a NC. But, that is diffrent. National Championships matter in football. But poor you, Mizzou, you have 0 so you probably don’t know much about that sort of thing. I know you don’t want advice from a Longhorn, but let me give you some anyway. It is probably best for y’all to sit quietly at SEC games, cause your smack talk about a great play Chase Daniel made in some random game isn’t going to get you real far.

So Mizzou wants stability? That’s like saying a meth addict only wants Claritin D for his allergies. You, Mizzou, have been the source of instability for many years. You, Mizzou, made advances to the Big 10 which in turn caused Nebraska to thump you in conference realignment like they did on the field. You, Mizzou, were so insecure that you lead the rumors and panic causing CU to think a huge conference realignment would take place. You, Mizzou, caused both NU and CU to leave the Big XII. You can stand on your head and spin it however you want, but in the end it was you, Mizzou.

You claimed that you simply wanted the Big 10 for their academic prestige, so instead you join a conference known for its less than stellar acadmics while playing on the east coast. For that you congratulate yourselves? Really?

I don’t think you can handle it, but I’m going to tell you some more truth anyway, Mizzou. Most SEC fans don’t really want you. That’s right. They don’t know you or want you. You are simply a place filler, nothing more, nothing less. You are like the in-law SEC inherited in getting the Aggies to sell their souls in marriage. They simply needed a number 14, and you “would do.” That’s it. You are the 14th favorite team in the SEC, and for that you claim to be happy. I bet not. It is simply not in you, Mizzou, to be happy. Admit it, that chance to maybe join ND in the Big 10 is still swirling in your mind. You aren’t fooling anyone with your claim of SEC love. We all know you, MIzzou. Maybe we know you better than you know yourself.

So, with all that said, congrats to you, Mizzou. You wanted the Big 10 and ended up wtih the SEC where you will probably won’t even be able to win 3 divisional titles in 15 years. Way to go. Farewell my fickle friend.

Wow, that felt good. I definitely feel better getting that off my chest. Carry on.

We're Texas, We're not OK.

I particularly like the inclusion of the quotes. As for Mack Brown, the article says, "Brown doesn't blink. "I think, when we make it, we have a right to spend it," he says. "That's the way America is."

As for Bill Byrne:

"They do everything they can to set themselves apart, that they are the very best, they are the elite," says Bill Byrne, who retired last week after 10 years as Texas A&M's athletics director. "I believe DeLoss (Dodds, the Longhorns' longtime AD) said 'we are the Joneses.' They act that way, and they spend that way."

If that smacks of envy, it's tinged with an archrival's grudging admiration.

"They're absolutely committed to having the best athletics program in the country," Byrne says. "You've got to tip your hat to them."

I certainly understand why everyone else, especially Aggies, hate us. We are very fortunate in deed and they have good reason to be jealous.

FSU Board of Trustee is not happy with the new ACC media deal. It sounds good at first...nearly $17M a year but it is locked in through 26-27. That is too long at that revenue, but the most shocking part is that the schools retained their third tier rights in Basketball, but NOT in football. FSU fans and Board of Trustees are right to blast a deal that so clearly favors the basketball schools at the expense of the football schools. Per the CBS link it sounds like Jimbo Fisher likes the idea too.

So, the rumor of FSU to the Big XII is sure to pick up steam and may actually happen. FSU even said they don't care about Duke and UNC's acadmics...it does nothing for them. I suspect BIg XII's new commisioner is already on the phone making arrangements for a visit. Would love to see Nole fans in Austin.

Bill Byrne held his retirement press conference today and announced his retirement with a year left on his contract. Contrary to what the bow-tied Putz said about Byrne helping through the transition, it seems Byrne took advantage of Loftin's absence to get the hell out of dodge. I love Byrne's timing of doing this while Loftin is in Qatar, but not even that stopped the Putz from calling in to take a few jabs at the departing Byrne. (Classy as ever).

I can't help but think that the Bow-tied Putz stuck his foot in his mouth when he prematurely stated that Byrne's contract would not be renewed nearly a year before such discussions needed to be made public. Nobody thought Byrne's contract would be renewed, but for the Aggie President to come out and publically emasculate Byrne was a foolish move that only a narcisstic PUTZ would do. It was classless, and was eerily similar to the classless manner in which the Aggies publically released Coach Sherman while he was visiting a recruit.

So, here's to the Aggie's new tradition of treating the folks in their athletic department like shit. Cheers Aggies.

If this doesn't make you excited for next year to see they young Mr. Gray in action I can't help you. Very cool and classy of Coach Sherman to call and praise Gray after Gray committed to Texas, saying he had more character and class than any kid he ever recruited. WOW. That is quite a compliment. No matter what happens on the field, his parents should be grinning ear to ear with pride.

Everything about this kid is positive and he sounds like the kind of kid that can be an extremely effective leader. He has a solid work ethic, has his priorities right and is ready to compete and win. He can lead by example. What a great commit and perfect match for the Texas football family. If I was a parent of a kid with a Texas offer I would certainly want my son to be hanging around kids like Johnathan Gray. This kid doesn't talk smack or grandstand. He works and performs. I really like M. Brown, but I'm excstatic about Gray. I can't wait for the season to start to see the double headed rush attack with a Mean Joe Bergeron getting his shot too. We got us some powerful Young Guns at RB!!!

The Mountaineers make their Big XII on September 29 at home. Then, the next week they get their first away conference game In Austin on Oct. 6.

We open our conference game on the 29th in Stillwater, so the UT vs. WVu game will be the second conference game for both teams. It is not too early to start planning to enjoy the spoils of conference realignment that traded Missery and Aggies for two of top current college football programs.

I posted the link above to start discussions on what to expect with WVu. I know one thing for sure, QB Geno Smith is "prime time" and he will be ready to cut loose. We better be ready. He's a guy I've loved to watch play because he doesn't quit and no lead is safe. And, you sure as hell do not want to be playing a Dana Holgorsen team and hope to catch them from behind.

Manny Diaz better have his grove on. What are we going to do special to welcome the Mountaineers to Austin? Perhaps this is a good time to start a tradition that would also MOCK our dear departed Aggies. Like, let's consider building a GIANT COUCH made out of ..you guessed it...COUCHES....and then we can light it on fire. Kind of like a tribute to bonfire but much more laid back. Aggies always tried to force traditions a bit too much just like their current pleas to teams in the SEC to "please be our rival." This stuff has to happen organically, but hells bells, I just can't wait to play the Mountaineers. I do not expect an easy game and I am going to guess we are the underdogs despite being at home. But, I'm ready to party and this clip made me more excited about the new season.

I also just enjoyed deleting "I am 12" from my favorites since the Aggies have officially left the building and Sports Blog Nation (anyone else dieing to know the entire story?) and replaced them with The Smoking Musket. The Smoking Musket has some good reads about their spring game. http://www.smokingmusket.com/

Are you ready for some football?

I have no idea about how the "indelible scar" that Texas left on Arkansas back in 1969 lead Bobby Petrino to cheat on his wife with an engaged school employee. But, all I can say is that must have been one hell of an a*s whooping. We knocked Arky out of the SEC and kept after them until they collapsed in a ball of misery.

Gee, I wonder what the 27-25 Final Farewell game with the Aggies will do to their psyche in the long run. Do you think they will go crazy and hire female cheerleaders, or stop putting students behind the visiting team in top notch seats? My mind wander on the insanity one little tiny kick will cause in the future.

Major storm is predicted including severe tornado warnings. Recruits are already cancelling their plans. Laquon Treadwill, a top WR from IL has cancelled, and I won't be disapponited if Cole Luke (CB) from Arizona decides to stay home. I really want DT Manning to be a Horn, but OU is probably in the lead for him. I am not sad that OU's spring game may lose a battle to mother nature. However, I do hope everyone is safe and best to "re-schedule" if the weather reports continue as forecasted.

So, I'm bored this off season and decided to check things out to see what is going on.

OU- Well, their latest star JUCO WR got busted for dope before he even enrolled and got to OU. The stupid kid ("allegedly") obstructs justice by calling out, "don't you know who we are....we're Div. 1 athletes." Excuse me, wanna beeeessss!!! Well, we all know that Big Game Bob will find some loophole to keep talent on the team. Minus 10 points for Slytherin. (Metoyer is really good....so hopefully Akina has DBU ready).

Another hot OU story you may have missed. They recently broke the goose egg on recruiting, but now they are on a roll. Recruit no. 2 is in and they went back to the Texas well. This time with NR DE Matt Dimon from Katy. Before we giggle, let's remember that they have a way of seeing the obvious that Texas seems to repeatedly miss. Sooners have to be a bit worried that they are already picking "diamonds in the rough" and "under the radar kids" with recruit number 2. What is going on North of the Red River? Not much good apparently.

Big XII new contract deal seems just dandy. Competitive with all other conferences (blows away ACC--which continues to lead to speculation about FSU and Clemson or GaTech) and WE keep our Tier lll Rights. Not sure what we do with them other than lock then in a Longhorn Network Lock-Box (yes, I said it) and laugh at everyone else. When you have $300M, you can afford to laugh for awhile. Seriously though, I would just like to watch some Longhonr sports on TV. The Big XII Bball tournament first few rounds being on scrub tv was pathetic.

Where is Dimecoverage? I miss her and the Bevo Daily Roundup. I don't have time to proof read, fact check, or otherwise correct deceptively misleading slams on Aggies or Sooners. But, at least it is an update.

Oh, the $EC is going to be fun to watch. Apparently the Aggie Bow-Tied-One has tweeted prematurely that South Carolina is their new bff and cross-divisional permanent rival. That means A$M has already ditched Mizzou, leaving Mizzou with absolutely no connection to its former primary recruiting base in Texas. Oh well, so sad. Poor Pinkel, he says he didn't know. Recruits better believe him or no helicopter rides.

Is this story true? SEC commissioner Mike Slive said: ”I’ll wait until our league makes a final decision before I make such pronouncements.” He He. Slive was later heard on his cell phone saying, "Loftin you stupid underqualified Putz. Shut your freaking pie hole." :-0

Well, it does leave Mizzou with Arky as a cross-divisional permanent rival which makes sense geographically, but screws Mizzou in recruiting. And, it leaves the honored and tradition rich Aggies with a LONGSTANDING cross-divisional rival. This is an obvious choice for Aggies since the Cocks are the fartherst team away from them geographically in the conference. Nothing says "rivalry" like a half empty stadium. At least they both wear maroon so maybe they can spread out. The life-time record of this longstanding rivalry you ask, well, it is a shocking 0-0 after all these years. Good luck teams, we will all be watching. Yawn.....

Honeymoon seems to be ending a bit early.

The rumors have been flying for some time that the Big XII Agreement was very weak. That makes no sense to me, but nothing about the departures of Mizzou and Aggies to the land of nothing but football aka the $EC makes sense to me. Since CU and NU got out at about 65% of the contractual penalty, I guess the Big XII gave the other defectors the same deal. For some unknown reason, it is being reported that A&M was paid extra to leave. That makes sense to me, since we all will be happy to see them gone. The language for Mizzou is the same as Aggies, except Aggies got a little something extra. Notice the bold and underlined part below. This actually pisses me off since Aggies should be paying $20M plus extra damages for interfering with the Big XII's contract with Mizzou.

The Conference will withhold an estimated $12,410,000 from Texas A&M's projected distribution for fiscal year 2012. However, the parties agreed that A&M will receive a portion of the benefit received by the Big 12 Conference from the signing of its television contract with Fox Sports, scheduled to commence July 1, 2012, and certain other concessions.

So, the only way I can makes sense of this is to assume that the Big XII wanted Mizzou to stay, but let them go. However, we paid extra to A&M for something. What could it be? I wonder if Aggies tried to stay in the Big XII for sports other than football through 2012 and we will pay them something minimal to get rid of them. What else could be the reason to allow them any portion no matter how miniscule of the new lucrative contract?

I was checking out Scout.com to see how Nebraska did in recruiting in its first full year out of the Big XII and without the strong Texas pipeline. It doesn't look to good for them in my opinion. Nebraska went from having the 2nd best class in the Big Ten for 2011 (19th nationally thanks in part to Aaron Green from Madison HS) to having the 7th best class in the Big Ten for 2012 and being ranked 50th nationally.

When I started comparing A&M and Mizzou, who had relatively good recruiting classes for 2012, I realized that things don't look to good for them either if you put any stock in recruiting predicting future success. I used Scout.com because I their format the best and it is user friendly.

Tim Kish, the fired LB coach from Arizona will follow BGB's brother Mike to the Sooners as their LB Coach. The good news: he has no ties to Texas or recruiting here. The bad news: he does have good recruiting ties to California. I am happy with this trade off.

Sooner fans are not happy to have another 60 y.o. white guy on the staff trying to recruit 17 year old kids to Norman, OK. BGB is hiring family and friends instead of hiring the best available coach for the job. Comparing Mack Brown's hires last year to the BGB hires this year I am glad that In Mack We Trust.

OU took 1 MLB and 1 OLB last year (2011) and they have 0 MLB and only 1 OLB commit for 2012 as of now. None of these 2011 and 2012 commits are elite talent. While I won't be surprised to see OU go to the JUCO well, for now the state of turmoil at OU on defense together with our stable of 5 star RBs has me very excited to finally flip the power of good over evil in Dallas in the near future.

Marcus Johnson, WR, 6-1, 180, and a 4.4 forty. Great Hands. Scout calls him a possession receiver that is also a deep threat. Hook 'em Horns to Marcus Johnson.

CrimsonandCreamMachine has a few takes on the situation

I could have linked many sites about the move, but C&CMachine in the OU blog on here and they are presenting some pretty good questions to Coach Bob Stoops (Not to be confused with Coach Mike Stoops) about whether the nepotism of bringing in Mike Stoops is worth it. Of course, only time will tell.

Most folks believe that Mike Stoops is a better DC than Venables, but that is pretty subjective.

I have a brother. I love my brother. I can work with my brother. But, I can't be bossed around by my brother and I don't think I can boss my brother around either. Plenty of times brothers have pulled off working together in football and out of football, but Big Game Bob is an awful narcisstic personalty and he does not like to be questioned or challenged. They have worked together in the past so they may pull it off. Then again, Mike Stoops was a HC and this is clearly a step backward in his career.

Oh, and btw, if you click the link to check out what C&C folks are saying I will give you a warning. Pretty much no matter how you try to ask a question or say something that doesn't praise their glory (even if they are saying it themselves) you will get rolled pretty fast. They have no sense of humor and follow the Bob Stoops' line that you don't question them or present an opposing view. So, I recommend just reading and not posting. I don't have a choice, they banned me awhile ago when I pointed out one of their many hypocritical takes on something.

And, wonder if they have an defensive guys that we should try to flip? Nothing is more fun and poaching a talented Sooner commit.

Poor WR Thomas Johnson from Skyline. He de-commits from Texas and ends up in the deep end of a snow drift.

His poor cousin went from OU to A&M. Talk about a dumb move and I hate the Sooners. But, clearly OU is the better football program.
Maybe it is time for TJ to reconsider and join his ole TGOD.

The cool black outfits make me wonder if we won't see a little black in the uniforms. The LHN has the black and it seems to be creeping into a lot of things Longhorn.

If Craig James killed 5 hookers while at SMU, how can he possibly run for the U.S. Senate?

EDSBS wants Answers-If the rumor that Craig James Killed 5 Hookers while at SMU is utterly false, why hasn't he publically denied it?

So, our good friends in the SEC at EDSBS set out on a mission to see if Craig James Killed 5 Hookers while at SMU. And, if he did not do it, why hasn't he publically denied it.

Of course, being the largest school in Texas you would think that we would have investigaged if Craig James Killed 5 Hookers while at SMU on our own. But, being the lazy Longhorns that we are we left that fun work to EDSBS.

I admit that I was suckered into the parallel world initiated by the SECers, because, after all, if anyone would know about Craig James killing 5 Hookers while at SMU it would be an SEC school. The only logical explanation I could find after searching the internet was that the rumor that Craig James Killed 5 Hookers is a good start to Craig James' political career aided by some savvy internet sports blogger. Has anyone else learned anything more about this and if Craig James killed 5 hookers while at SMU?

My intent is that no hookers are harmed in the reporting of my findings as to whether Craig James Killied 5 Hookers while at SMU or not.
