The A's have hired recent Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson in a goodwill capacity for the 2009 season, and the club is looking for an extension to the club's Spring Training site contract, which expires in 2012.

i hope maybe this will lead to a more prominent role with the A's as the year goes by, he would be great to mentor some of the younger players

Please click on the above link to read the article, which discusses the possibility that Bud Selig could bring Santa Clara into play as an A's destination. Sure to be discussed are Mr. Wolff's pre-ownership relationship with Bud Selig, the Giants' rights or lack thereof in objecting to their territorial claims being compromised, and which city might move most quickly to approve a ballpark, especially in this economy. -Nico}

Michael Young asked the rangers to explore a trade

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have asked Michael Young to move to third base. Young has asked the Rangers to explore a trade.

The Rangers want Young to play third base so they can use rookie Elvis Andrus at shortstop. The Rangers are reluctant to use Travis Metcalf at third base.

Young has been the Rangers' shortstop over the past five years after moving over from second base. He is a five-time All-Star at the position and won a Gold Glove in 2008. He is signed for $80 million over the next five years.
