Dog takes a dump on a minor league baseball field
This would be fitting for Camden Yards
OT: Always nice to see a story like this...
Nice work, Vince.
Ump nailed by soda bottle from The Holy Fans of the New York Yankees
The game was interrupted for about 10 minutes. When play resumed, there were only three umpires on the field. During the fight, third base ump and crew chief Derryl Cousins was hit in the knee by a bottle full of soda that he said was thrown from the stands.
Maybe we can all add this to the list of things we can honor everything Yankee.
Funny fight, otherwise.
Sarfate's brutal post game interview
He belittles himself, states that he sucks repeatedly, thinks he's failing as a starter (because he is, of course). Makes absolutely no excuses or anything.
On the one hand, he's doing a horrible job as a starter. On the other hand, it's refreshing to see a major leaguer man up when making a mistake and stop blaming it on stupid shit like "just a mistake pitch."
He's still young, has a powerful arm... hope his confidence isn't shot enough where he can't remember how to pitch like the ~3.50ERA reliever he had been most of this year.
Chad Bradford traded
Gotta hand it to Roch - he gets news fast.

Bradford to Tampa for PTBNL. I'm not really sure what that means in terms of the quality of this trade though... I'm always skeptical of the PTBNL. Bradford's been having a typical great year too.. I hope we get a good haul for him.
Good luck, Bradford! Thanks for a great 2 years.

Loewen and Bierd +2... Who goes?
So if Loewen and Bierd are due to return soon, who's going to get knocked off the team?
Cormier's pitched pretty decently. Walker? Burres? Salazar/Cintron/Bynum? (the only one who I think merits the boot is Bynum...)
It's a pretty tough equation... while many guys on our team are expendable, none have really done anything so bad to warrant being replaced by someone else who isn't exactly an all-star. That being said, I think keeping Bierd is essential for us this year - he's probably going to develop into a pretty good pitcher.
What do ya think?
Umm.. This is front page on Yahoo! Sports. That's... not.. Brian Roberts...

I saved the picture too. Morons.
TRACHSEL VS. TREMBLEY
Well, this should be interesting. I don't think Trax is going to be around much longer.
I'm still a Trachsel fan though.

Congratulations, Sean Deveney of the Sporting News. You are the Perez Hilton of major league baseball.
And who would have guessed it: Twins, Athletics, and Marlins so far?
Amazing story!
HOUSTON (AP)—When Miguel Tejada met 8-year-old Jacob Scott on Friday, he was so touched by the little boy with muscular dystrophy he promised him a home run.
And he actually delivered ... I have no lost feelings over Tejada, but that is a hell of an accomplishment.
I wonder if it will receive a lot of press. ESPN casually brought it up this morning.
Or is calling a home run only special if done by a member of the most storied franchise in the history of the world?
Funny story about a Twins middle reliever
Great story, sounds like a funny guy. Any other interesting/funny guys around the league? Other than Manny.
Luke Scott's Right to Giant Bear Arms..
Luke Scott is a monster. He's undoubtedly going to hit over .400 this year, with an endless supply of home runs, etc. But off the field, he is a little kitten, and needs protection!
When the Baltimore Orioles traded for outfielder Luke Scott, they figured they were adding an offensive weapon, but they probably didn't realize that weapon came with a weapon. Scott recently revealed that he carries a concealed Glock pistol almost everywhere he goes according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.
"We live in an imperfect world," Scott said. "If you have money and fame, you're more of a target to the criminal element. There are people who steal, who murder people for what they have. That's the reality of life. If you're not prepared, it could cost you your life."
Between him and Jamie Walker, you'd think the Orioles have more firepower than the Waco Branch Davidian.
Hell, I could walk by Luke Scott 100 times and not recognize him in real life.
*shrug*
