Mark Derosa For Left Field

I am a Mark Derosa fan. I think his multi-positional value is underrated. I for one would be very happy to see the yankees sign him. According to Rotoworld Derosa could want a 3 year 27 year contract. Now he is 34 but if i was the yankees i would try to land him at 3/21. For one he would offensively bolster our OF with killing our budget. Second he could be an infield replacement. Days he does this, Granderson would play left and Gardner would play center.

I believe this is the final piece the yankees should make

This is what I think the Yankees should do for the remainder of the offseason inn terms of moves

1st- Let Johnny Damon walk unless he comes back on our terms

2nd- Although i am a Holliday supporter, the 2010-2011 free agency pool is loaded with guys like lee, mauer, crawford, so we should save our money for next year to try to get two of those three, plus resign mariano and jeter. ALso pass on Chapman because of this reason.

3rd- Sign Nick Johnson to a one year deal with incentives for a second year. This guy would be a nice fit for the 2 hole because he is Nick Swisher with a higher average

4th- Sign Mark Derosa. Derosa is what every major league team needs. He can hit well enough and field well enough to play left, but can play either 2nd or 3rd if guys there need a rest. This immediately improves our outfiled offensively and gives us a super-sub. I would give derosa whatever he wants. Really i feel that getting him should be a top priority-ahead of johnson, and possibly before we get our number 4 starter. WHich brigns me to #5

5th- Sign a fourth starter. The Yankees can go lots of ways with this. Sign injury prone guys, who missed time last year: Bedard, Duchscherer, Sheets, or Wang. Or go with guys that have some risk: Washburn, Pineiro, Kelvim Escobar

In the end I see Johnson signing for 8 million with option for 2nd year. Derosa 3 years at 6-8 million (estimate)

and finally i see them getting sheets on an incentive based contract for a year or pineiro (whom many ppl beleive is only a dave duncan product, but i see his groundball pitching doing well for our team)

Get AP going and going early

Is it me or does it feel like the team has shift from a run heavy team to pass heavy team

I know brett favre is playing well, and teh O line is having a tough time opening holes

but we have the best back in the game, we need to get him the ball more

im talking almost to the extent of just giving him the ball three straight times (unless it happens to be 3rd and long)

for a few series. We all know what kind of runner AP is. He gets 2,3,1,4,5,2,-1, then 50. But if AP is only getting the ball 12 times how many times will he break one for 50. The vikes will not go very far into the playoffs if AP isnt running well, against a good cincy D, it should be interesting how AP does.

Also i think the running plays being called are not very good we run too much to the right away from hutch and mt mckinnie. Also enough with the pitches out wide let AP bang inside teh tackles. Linemen like nothing better than just plowing forward instead of having to get pushed back on pass protection. They'd rather pound someone's head in. Like Greg Eastbrook says in his "Tuesday Morning Quarterback" include some misdirection, get the defense moving one way, so AP can cut back and embarrass some defenders.

Simply although AP hasnt been playing well you have to get him the ball in order to win in the playoffs

Kevin Long has a new project

and this is a VERY IMPORTANT ONE

teaching granderson how to hit lefties (somewhat decently)

when i play baseball you are taught to let the ball travel and hit the ball to the opposite field, that is what long has to preach to grandy. Curtis may seem that short porch and try to power everything that way, but in order for him to hit effectively (.280-.290) he has to utilize the whole field. Derek Jeter does this very well, as pitchers who try to throw him away he just hits it to right field

i believe the yankees made this deal because they felt a)they saw something in grandy's swing that they felt the tiger's didnt analyze and that the yankees will or b) they felt grandy at his low point (.250 BA, 15 sb's, 150 k's) will still be better than AJAX.

Overall, i think this deal with pan out nicely for the yanks. Im a little worried about 2012 when grandy is due for a lot of $$$ but i believe he will earn that money in NY

Early prediction says .280 BA, 28 HR, 80 RBI, 20 SB

Also where do you think he bats?

Im saying without damon, he will get a chance to bat second with cano

Otherwise with damon or cano batting second he may have to hit 6 or 7 behind posada and possibly cano

a Vikings win this week and a Packers loss against Baltimore wins us the division

vikes will be 11-1

packers 7-5

vikes own tiebreaker so will be 5 up with 4 to play

ALso as everyone knows we are huge Patriot fans this week, as a win by them means we are only a tiebreaker from being ahead of New oRleans. Then we pray we run the table and they slip up somewhere.

This week is the Cardinals. Last time around we dominated their vaunted passing attack, but this time may be harder if Warner plays

Now would be a good time to unveil Winfield to let him get some reps against a real offense

GO VIKINGS!!!

Kurt Coleman, Safety from Ohio State

Watching this game, this guy stood out to me

he made some good plays against the run

and also has two interceptions

the second one, he made a great play to jump infront of the reciever and came down with the ball

his hands seem to be great and his coverage seems good too

http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=1809245

seems like a hard hitter too, and maybe we could transfer him to CB to have two hard hitters in Winfield and Coleman

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=64828&draftyear=2010&genpos=SS

a 3rd or 4th rounder seems good too

and 3rd best safety available

does anyone know winfield's status for sunday's game?

i know our backup corners have started to get the feel for things and have improved. but we miss winfield alot

he shuts down his side of the field against both the pass and run. Plus eh has great plays and actually catches interceptions.

Or do you think the Vikings will hold him out another to week to make sure is he is fully ready because they are facing a weaker team

BSPN is reporting that winfield could be out 4 to 6 weeks

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4593260

this is not good, i know that this story may not be true

but if its is we could be in store for lots of passign yards given up

Griffin, SApp, and Asher Allen better step up

and hope and pray paymah gets better each week

last night and it was unbelievable

God even let us play nine innings without rain

and i've always like jhj, he handles the bat so well. I was dumbfounded why giriadi didnt pinch hit him earlier for guzman (at bat where guzman swung at three stright pitches looking awful). Also arod is so clutch. After his homerun, in which Boboo Abreu almost made a play on at the wall no less, I kept counting the hitters until he got up again, so we could end the game.

One thing that upset me greatly was cano's defense, especially the play in the 13th. As a middle infielder i know that he should have got behind that ball or at least knocked it down and thrown out the runner. Everyone always praises him for his defense, but he constantly makes fundamental errors that strain our pitching staff.

And as for the announcing, i thing Gus Johnson should do the games for fox

watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSTKmJ7sMJQ

imagine his call on arods homerun and melky game winning fielder's choice

The Vikings dominated all aspects of the game

highlighted by run defense and pass offense

two big plays stand out to me, one the goalline stand

and the saftey

also kluwe punted well for the first time in a long time, johnson had some nice punt returns, allen was a beast, favre played amazingly, and peterson although was shut down, had a td plunge

the only thing that bugs me, is our play in teh second half of the fourth quarter

we played conservatively on offense and when we needed to run it to run down the clock, we threw a 50 yard bomb

on defense we looked liek we didnt care if they scored and even blitzed, the end of the game should have never got to that point, we should have coasted

Otherwise we just outplayed and outmuscled the pack

and we are 4-0
