I apologize if this has already been mentioned, but I haven't seen it.

Sports Business Journal has an interesting write-up about some, seemingly, good developments for SBNation, of which BCB is a member; the article can be found here.

The important part of the article is that:

Former AOL programming chief Jim Bankoff has secured a mid-seven-figure sum of venture capital for SB Nation, a startup network of sports blogs, from a group of digital media and technology luminaries.

(emphasis added by poster)

I certainly hope this is good news for you and the future of BCB Al, I've followed your blog since "And Another Thing!"

Pinella/McDonough/Hendry Meeting -or- Barrett MIA

While listening to The Score on the way home they reported that McDonough and Hendry have been locked away in Lou's office since 4:15PM, this was reported at around 6:15... 2 hours of meeting in what I'm sure is a close-quarters manager's office.

This obviously lends itself to lots of discussion, is Lou wanting out? Do they want Lou out? Is this a PR move to make it seem like they care?

Also, it appears that Michael Barret had not yet arrived to the ballpark and was not listed as the starting catcher for today's game... Lots of possibilities here as well, was he traded away? Is he pissed and taking a "personal" day?

Lots of stuff... Look for a Press Conference later and see what happens I guess... I for one think Lou wants to leave, and management is talking him out of it, as for Barrett, I have no clue.

Statement by George M. Steinbrenner, Principal Owner, New York Yankees

"I congratulate the Angels and their manager on the great job they've done. Our team played hard, but we let our fans down. Our fans are the greatest in the world and I want to thank them for their amazing support throughout the season. We will do better."

Wouldn't it be nice to see Andy McPhail, Dusty Baker, Jim Hendry... the groundskeepers... ANYONE give such a seemingly heartfelt apology for the past 2 years (not to mention the 97 years since our last WS victory)? And offer such a simple statement as "We will do better." What a great way to at least make it seem as if you care about the fans.

I love the Cubs, but they are having some serious PR issues right now... Maybe they should hire me so I can lend them a hand in that area.

Front Office Hang-outs?

Does anyone know where the front office staff tends to hang out after work? Any particular bars, or restraunts? Any help would be awesome... Trying to do an interview for school, and calling and email get NOWHERE with the people. I think I'll need to "accidentally" bump in to someone...

Any suggestions on where to go and who to look for?
