Trade Idea- Warriors + Kings
You guys can tear me up if this sounds crazy to you or not. But I really think this would be a win for both teams and I'll try to break it down from the pros and cons of the trade. This is only a suggestion so if it sounds crazy then, well, throw it at me... (hope not) Here goes...
GS gives:
Monta Ellis + 2nd round pick to Sacramento
for
Samuel Dalembert + 1st round pick.
Pros for Warriors
They get another great rebounder and a decent to above average interior defender and shot blocker, something that the Warriors really lack of. Beidrins is the only one in the roster and Udoh is still an unknown. Having Dalembert with David Lee's great defensive rebounding skills, they will limit opponents 2nd chance points. Samuel is a good shot blocker and a really decent defender in the paint, which helps Lee to not play center.
A 1st round pick which could be early as a lottery pick or as late as in the 12-19's.
Cons
They lose a 25ppg all star caliber player. A player who can give a lot of trouble for defense.
BUT
Monta scores a lot by shooting a lot. Dalembert doesnt shoot that much. If Monta's shot attempts would be divided to Lee, Curry and Reggie Williams who we know can al score, getting that 25ppg or at least more that half of it that the Warriors lost would be not much of a problem .
Pros for the Kings
They get a all star caliber guard who can take a load on scoring and give Evans and Omri Caspi some help on offense, if not a lot of help. Sacramento only has Francisco Garcia as their legit SG, and Monta coming in gives them another. Basically, Monta will add more firepower to the Kings with his offensive talent. While getting more options in Evans and Caspi and Cousins on the inside.
Cons
They lose a solid defender in the interior and a good rebounder.
They lose a 1st round pick.
but...
They have so much depth in the Big Man spot, Dalembert's loss would not be a problem. Cousins is a big man who can hold his own inside. Jason Thompson is still in develpment but showed some promise last season. Hassan Whiteside can block shots, Donte Green and Carl Landry, a scorer and an energy guy respectively.
They still get a 2nd round pick in return. But they have an all star caliber guard who is still young, so 1st round pick would not be much of risk.
I think the trade is a win-win for both teams. The only thing I see that can make this trade not work is because they are on the same division, but i think it wont be that much of a problem when both teams will improve now and in the future.
what do you guys think?
If the "Big Leprechaun" will not commence. Which big man should the C's sign.
So if Shaq us gonna be too stubborn for money and/or playing time issues, who's the next best thing the Celtics should sign?
I hope not Kwame Brown.
Instead they should sign Earl Barron. at 7'0'' 250 lbs, he's a mobile big man with decent enough skills to defend. He may not be a true banger but he showed can bother shots in the middle. He also showed that he can rebound if given playing time. One thing the Celtics are REALLY looking for. And the big kicker of it all is his ability to hit mid range shots along with his mobility. Barron would be a solid back up for JO or when Perk returns. He's not an offensive liability, and he has a good enough defense. I know "good enough" isn't good enough, but a few advice from the coaching staff and KG would turn him a much better defender. And probably for the vet. minimum too as no body is seemingly trying to sign him right now (haven't seen any news of a team getting interested in him aside from probably the Knicks.)
He showed good numbers when he played for New York and he would probably give the Celtics' second unit an offensive lift at the Center position plus his rebounding while giving JO/Perk a breather. Running him through pick and pops with Nate or Rajon, with his ability to shoot, could create a solid off the bench offense option.
All this of course, is unless Shaq does not go Celtics. But Barron should be Danny's next best choice.
Not to mention that he's still pretty young and still has room to grow (28 years old.)
Danny, offer him a vet. minimum now, for insurance.
does this trade makes sense?
They are all talking about Rudy Fernandez wants out of Portland. Why not the Raps add to the hunt?
Send DeMar DeRozan and Reggie Evans to Portland for Rudy Fernandez, Joel Pryzbilla and a 2nd round pick.
The Raps get a solid SG with potential to be a great starter if given the playing time he asks, while Portland gets a young SG with the same potential in the years to come.
DeRozan and Fernandez plays the same. Can light it out on offense, and plays decent defense. But Fernandez is more polished probably based on more experience. And the Raps will get a big man with it as well. It could help put Bargnani slide in the PF spot. Yes he is injured but another catch would be that his contract his expiring in a year. Meaning Pryzbilla plays or not it would be a valuable trade asset/player for the team.
And Jose and Rudy playing together, with that chemistry. Look promising.
Does this make any sense though.
An Idea... Trade Sheed's Contract toUtah. Does this sound absurd?
Addressing the need for a solid wing and a big man. This is just an idea that just popped up and will it sound good or will it be the worst thing you've read is entirely up to you.
With the signing of Von Wafer and Marquis Daniels, the spot for the wing position has probably been filled up. Or not yet. And the Rudy talks are still silent. There is one idea though that could probably help out.
A trade to Utah. Trading Sheed's contract and some players for CJ Miles and a sign & trade deal for Kyrylo Fesenko. CJ Miles have been solid in Utah playing quality minutes behind Andrei Kirilenko, and could probably do the same behind Paul Pierce. He's an active player who likes to slash inside and shown some decency shooting outside as well. Kyrylo Fesenko has been in the NBA for 3 years and had some not so good numbers, but hasnt had a good slice of playing time in Utah yet. But at 23 years old and at 7'1'' 300 pounds, his big body and length could probably be the big backup that the Celtics are looking for just and be their Plan B in case Shaq does not wanna sway to green.
Add the fact that Utah is at 68 million in the cap. They could probably use some cap relief even if it's just -6 million (though Kirilenko's 17 mil is out after this season which means they probably wont need cap relief.) Also, they are loaded with SF's and even drafting Gordon Hayward who I think will be groomed to be the next face of Utah. But I'm pretty sure they will not just give these two for a contract. Which is where Wafer or Marquis Daniels comes in. They only have Raja Bell as their legit shooting guard. Add Gaffney as well and the trade will probaly get interesting.
And to top it all of. Miles' contract expires in two years. Same year all those contracts expire where Danny starts rebuilding. Which makes it even better for the C's as they try to go for the WIN NOW REBUILD 2 YEARS LATER approach.
The only problem is Fesenko. Miles is only worth 3.7 million so to get to Sheed's contract Fesenko has to sign for atleast 2.3 mil. He's a restricted free agent as well meaning Utah can match the offer, though at 2 million and them over the cap it's pretty tough to match. The question now is, he worth it for 2 million a year is the question? Maybe not? But is the gamble worth it. If Shaq does not become the big leprachaun, I'd say yes. Sign Fesenko to a 1 year deal with an option for a 2nd year.
So the trade scenario goes.
Boston gives
Sheed's contract, Von Wafer/Marquis Daniles, Tony Gaffney to Utah (maybe add 1st round pick if the previous offer is rejected)
Boston gets
CJ Miles, Kyrylo Fesenko and 2nd round Pick.
And the backup wing problem is solved. The backup big problem, at least has been handled for a while.
