The Bobcats just finished the lockout-shortened 2011-2012 NBA Season with a historically terrible record of 7-59. Many hearts were crushed; dreams of playoffs were ruined. In this FanPost, I will attempt to further the rebuilding process the Bobcats have underwent, while, trying to field a competitive team. The moves will be broken up into three phases: the NBA Draft phase, the Free Agency phase, and the Training Camp/Development/Advice for Players phase.

NBA Draft Phase:

In my dream offseason, the Bobcats win the lottery and get the privilege to draft Anthony Davis. The "6'10' PF will dramatically alter our interior defense and PnR defense positively. He will need to add about 15-20 pounds of muscle to bang around in the post with NBA players. With our second round pick, we draft SF Quincy Miller out of Baylor. Quincy Miller is a high upside player who is a good spot up shooter and has a decent inside-outside game. His struggles with inconsistency and thin frame made up most of his struggles at Baylor.

Free Agency Phase:

First, let Cory Higgins, DJ White, Derrick Brown (difficult decision might I add), Eduardo Nagera, and Jamario Moon walk. All of these players have little to no upside and can be replaced easily w/o a loss of significant production. Second, sign PG AJ Price to a 2 year/ 2 million deal. He's a good, cheap bench player with size, playmaking ability, and a three point stroke. And for our last free agent transaction, sign C Kyrylo Fesenko to a 2 year/ 1 million deal. He is a solid bench piece. Players who hustle and offer decent shotblocking & rebounding ability are always desirable.

Training Camp/Development/Advice for Players Phase:

Kemba Walker: Work on your midrange jump shot. Become a better distributor.

Corey Maggette: Increase your trade value.

Gerald Henderson: Be more aggressive. Use your athleticism.

Bismack Biyombo: Bulk up. Become more aware on offensive end.

Byron Mullens: Show more effort when boxing out. On D, rotate faster.

Reggie Williams: Work on on-ball defense.

Matt Carroll + Desagna Diop: Please don't accept your player options! PLEASE!

Tyrus Thomas: Recapture the magic of pre-injury 2010.

Lineup Going into 2012-2013 NBA Season:

PG: Kemba Walker, AJ Price, (D-League player)

SG: Gerald Henderson, Reggie Wiliams, Matt Carroll

SF: Corey Maggette, Quincy Miller, Reggie Williams

PF: Anthony Davis, Byron Mullens, Tyrus Thomas

C: Bismack Biymobo, Kyrylo Fesenko, Desagna Diop

New coach: Patrick Ewing (perfect to mentor young bigs, Bismack & Anthony Davis)

Trade Idea #1

Why this makes sense for the Lakers?

The Lakers get an up-and-coming, legitimate starting PG, in DJ, who can run an offense and create mismatches for a player who is close to retiring.

Why this makes sense for the Bobcats?

Luke Walton was considering retirement last season because of knee issues and wil retire this season so we won't have to pay his contract. That's 5 million off the books. Also, we recieve 2 1st round draft picks (one for this season and one for two seasons later). Kemba Walker has the chance to start and develop now as well.

Why this makes sense for the Celtics?

The Celtics get young, athletic bigs to boost the effectiveness of their bench in exchange for the walking injury that is Jermaine O'Neal. Tyrus Thomas still has potential to be a good starter and is an elite shotblocker. The Celtics need someone to protect the rim. Byron Mullens can stretch the floor at the 5 and could become a poor man's Dirk at the 4. The loss of Dooling may hurt but, Avery Bradley provides great defense at the backup PG spot, and Cory Higgins can man the 3rd string PG.

Why this trade makes sense for the Cats?

The Cats lose their only bad contract and gain almost 9 million in expirings. Jermaine O'Neal can be a good mentor to Bismack Biyombo and Dooling will take over the backup PG spot.
