TBS Postseason Coverage

Now the we have survived through one postseason of having Chip Caray, Tony Gwyn and Bob Brenly as the "1st team broadcasters". I want RR to throw in their 2 cents on how TBS showcased the most exciting time in baseball.

My 2 cents

Top 3 things TBS didn't get right...

Frank Thomas on the pregame show: If Frank thinks he has future as a baseball analysis he should think again. Seriously, how could you look bad and that you don't exist on the set when EJ is the host! This defies my whole theroy that ANYONE can look good when EJ is the host. Thanks Frank

Not showing Family Guy when the NLCS was going on: The ratings were just sad for the series, On Mike and Mike they said the best rating was a 3.6 in game 2! I'm not sure if it's the state of MLB baseball because the promote their storied franchises more than the newer ones, or just that the Rockies and D-Backs don't appeal to that part of the country.

The-I-can't-believe-these-are-your best-broadcasters: I tried tuning the trio out but it was so hard when they were obsessed with Micah Owens and his ability to hit for being a pitcher through the first 4 innings last night. TBS was getting away with murder; the victim were my ears. Find anyone please who won't say stupid thing after stupid thing, and will put me to sleep for next ear will ya?

The 2 things they did well...

Dick Stockton: I have always been hard on Dick, deservingly so as well. He has ruined so many NBA postseason series for me it is not even funny. He was so bad in the Dallas-Golden State series, that TNT replaced him with Marv Albert and Steve Kerr by game 3. However, baseball is perfect for his laid back style of broadcasting. I was really impressed and felt good that Dick didn't totally wreck something in sports.

EJ and Cal: Not as good as EJ, Charles and Kenny, but damn Cal really knew what he was talking about and was interesting to listen to, and EJ as always works wonders. They should bring in Milton Bradley next year just to mix things up har har.

 <fieldset class="poll-box">
 <legend>Poll</legend>

TBS did a...

With the release of Madden '08 tomorow it is only fitting that we all should share our favorite baseball video games...

If anyone here has a favorite or least favorite game or both, tell us why it rule or sucked

My all time favorite is Home Run King, it came out in 01 and had Jeff Bagwell on the cover. It was the best baseball game I played cause you could create your own player and at the time it had great customizing features.

I haven't played much of MLB the Show or Recent All-Star Baseball games so if anyone wants to give a review on those it would be very helpful.

I WAS WRONG! ADAM DUNN IS ON FIRE!!!

This is grreeattt for two reasons,

1.} is this THE TURNAROUND of Dunn, Where is beacomes the star player we all have wet dreams about?

2.} is the trade value sky rocketing because of his past week?

I say no to both

I debate myself everyday with the Adam Dunn trade talk, I never been so fired up on a subject that has to due with one player until this issue came about. We all know the story get rid of him, have some cash, get a good arm or arms in here, and maybe get a great reliever. Or would we could keep him and have 40HRs, 90-100RBI seasons and pay him 14 Million, both sound well...pretty good. It would make one think the Reds are in a Win-Win situation.

I think that is a fantasy, we are not getting Broxton or any decent reliever for him. I don't understand why the Dodgers will give up their best set up man while trying to win a tough NL West. So Fellow Reds Reporters you guys have won me over THE BEST TRADE IS NO TRADE.

I don't want to make this all about Dunn, my real post is this. I think this is the loss that summed up the season, Reds come back, Arroyo who has become the worst pitcher in the starting rotation all the sudden keeps giving up hit after hit, and the bullpen is well...the point is it is i'm sick of it. The team saying "We are better than this" "We don't get blown out, so thats an improvement" "We are going to turn it around" It's freakin June and you aren't.

So I'm asking you guys the following.

What Free Agent pitchers Starters or Relievers will be Free agents and the end of this year? Could the Reds get them, and would you like to see them here?

This is a question that Tracy Jones said Marty asked him so I ask you. If you could only have one of the two what would you take, A Good Starting staff or A Good Bullpen.

I'll take the starting staff everytime!

Ok I'm doing a Reds Who's Hot and Not thing now

WHO'S HOT!

1.} ADAM "THE BEAST DUNN

Ofcourse right after I agrue why I would take Jeter over Dunn in a "clutch" situation he has his best week of the season {10-25, .400AVG, 2HR, 5 RBI, 4R and an off the chart .720 SLG} That was coming into todays game as well Which he only added on to all of that. He also made a great Running Catch in Saturdays game. RBI Singles, Meaningful HRs! He was my Man Crush this week

2.} Hatty

Had a great week coming into todays game {10-22, .455AVG .540 OBP, 1HR and 3RBI} He might not be a "true leadoff hitter" but damn he gets on base and makes the pitcher throw pitches. The best week by a reds leadoff man this season by far.

3.} Aarron Harang

Even if he was shaky Saturday {2GS, 12.2IP, 3ER, 1-0, 1.42ERA} Should not go unnoticed. He is getting run support but still I think People undervalue this stud. He is the only pitcher this whole staff has that reds fans can count on for a solid preformance

Honarble Metion: David Ross, Ken Griffey Jr

WHO"S NOT!

1.} "THE MAGIC MAN"

I think my friend Ty said it best{and told me to metion it to my blog buddies}...he blows more than Parris Hilton :l

2.} NOT HAVING SS BRENDAN HARRIS!

wtf did we get for giving up this guy? I mean he is just hitting .313 has 7 HRs and 31 RBIs and has made 7 errors for the happenless D-rays. Nothing against a more expensive and older Gonzo, but Krisky is looking even dumber with giving up on him

3.} ALAN CUTTLER AND DUNN HECKLERs

Cuttler{who is not "clutch"} who said two days ago on his show that Adam Dunn is a reason why the Reds suck and he wanted him to be traded last year might be looking at Dunn being the NL Player of the week if he has a solid series against the A's. Dunn Hecklers who booed him earlier this week must feel pretty crappy. The only thing I could think that they could use as material for why he is Public Enemy No.1 for Reds Fans is "He Struck out to end the game on Thursday!...even if he went 3 for 5"

Honorable Metion: Juan Castro, Bronson Arroyo

Thanks for reading! :}

This is in response to "Padres Eyeing Dunn" by Thundering Turtle

I need your help fellow Red Reporters! It is almost a known fact that if the Reds want to get better through trade this season the best prospect we have to offer teams i Dunn. I have been critical of Dunn not for his play but because he makes too much.

Thoughts and Questions about this:

-If everyone could list a Rumor or a Realistic Trade that could happen? Other than the one with the Padres {thank you Thundering Turtle for that post}. I would like to see what the reds could get for him.

-I would like to see Dunn stay because GABP is not a ballpark where you can play "small ball", you have to have Sluggers in the Line up and Ground Ball Pitchers. Dunn is Consistent with what he does the past 3 seasons he has 40+ HR and 90-100RBI. Who could replace Dunn in LF if he does leave? Joey Votto?

-Interesting Stat i found on ESPN.com. In Close and Late games this season. Dunn has 5 hits in 26ABs, .192 AVG, OHR, ORBI, 4BB 12SO. I know Dunn had that great moment last year when he hit the Grand Slam off Wickman but Dunn has never been a Clutch Hitter in late games.

-Dunn and GABP is a perfect Marriage, 99AB at the lauching pad that is GABP he has 9 of his 14 HR and 22 of his 35RBIs, in 101AB on the road he has 6 HR and 13RBIs

Give me some good responses and answers like you usually do!

If we sweep the astros tonight we are out of the cellar wohoo!!!

A few thoughts and questions:

-After this we play the sudenly hot rockies and the lowly cards. It would not be crazy to think that the team could go 8-1 or 7-2 and make up some lost ground.

-With that said, wouldn't this be a great time to bring up bailey? Say the reds have a great road trip and with the 5th starter and i think even loshe still in question, the next homestand would be the perfect time to bring him up. Fans would love it andi'm sure the players would get excited because they have to know the numbers this guy is putting up in AAA.

-Oh yeah and another thought on Bailey, Fransico Liriano was brought up when Minesota was 12 games out and was a big part of why they came back...just throwing that out there.

-I heard the braves released 1B/OF Craig Willson. Is he still around to pick up? I think he could help the reds bench depending on how much he cost. So if you guys know anything or if you think he can help tell me.

-I will defend Juan Casto, I know he has really really sucked on the field, but he has helped EdE very much. I read an article in the enquier that says he helps EdE durring Infield everyday and gives him advice. I know i will get ripped on that but haha oh well he is my favorite player on the team.

6 losses later, Cries of another "5 year plan" or "Firesale" come up while i just hold my ears. How many 5 year plans does a die hard fan have to go through? I have seen former Reds like Brett Boone, Mike Cameron, Reggie Sanders, Paul Konerko and many others go on to have 2 to 3 great years, be huge factors on playoff and World Series teams while my beloved Reds have been nothing more than an 80 win team since 1999. I try to pump myself up when the Yankees, Cubs, Red Sox are on Fox and ESPN's national telivised games every week but I always end up angry and upset before the first inning is over.

Hasn't the MLB figured it out yet?

Why is the NFL the most sucsessful leauge in the planet?

Oh yeah that salary cap thing!

Every fan can go into the season believing that team has a chance, Every team no matter how bad has atleast one superstar.

When then NFL Draft has higher ratings than the whole MLB Post Season, one would think they would figure it out.

These are tough times for being a reds fan in the Nati'. Another 5 year plan no matter who is a GM won't make a difference though. The Young Guys get good, they want to get paid good, so they say goodbye to the reds.

So Major Leauge Baseball, Please let all of America enjoy your game.

With everything for the Reds Nation looking glim already, I found some reasons to keep myself in to this season! {Other than the obvious Hamilton Story}

-Harang and Arroyo Won't be in a fire sale {Or atleast i hope not} so we will have 2 good pitchers to watch all season

-To see who the Reds get rid of in the Fire Sale, everybody seems to think Dunn will be gone before July not sure why because he has been decent this season. I'm not a fan of his but i don't think he is problem

-Seeing how hard FSN tries to make a big deal about Stanton trying to become the all time appereance leader in baseball...I know thats why i'm watching the Reds still, Sure Stanton has a 23423423 ERA but it is SO worth it.

-The Chance of more 1 dollar hot dog and discount beer games late this summer when the reds are 50 games back. Nothing like having a cold one while watching a big leauge club destroying a Triple A team.

-Seeing how the Reds will blow the game. I've been trying this for the last week and it's great! The other night in houston was a heartbreaker though! I played it safe and said the bullpen would blow it in the 9th after 8 solid innings from Matt B. Turns out Matt B pitched 7 solid innings and The bullpen pitched 2 shutout innings {first time since april it seems}! And it was the lack of offense from the team and 2 critical errors from the "future 3B" Eddie E. So I was way off on that

See Reds Faithful 4 things we can look forward too right there!!! Thats not including what Crazy, Outrageoes and Unlogical move Wayne will make!!!

...Great time to be a reds fan eh? :{

...well not really, but the Dodgers, Padres and Indians are all good teams and the Reds didn't play well at all vs any 3 of those teams last year.

Here is a few thoughts i have that i'm confused on...
-How long can Harrang {5-1 but with a 5+ ERA now!} give up 5 runs every outing and win games for us?

-Most of us thought that Lohse and Matt B were the keys to the reds Sucsess this year both are 4-5, which is not too great but have a 3.65 ERA Combined. In the NL when your 3 or 4 are putting up solid numbers like that you shouldn't be 15-20

...if you guys have any inside info that would make light of what already looks like it is going to be a LONG season please post it!

Reasons after 35 games to be discouraged if your a reds fan...

-If the Reds win their next 5 games in a row they are 20-20, wohoo!

-Don't look now but the Cubs are playing decent baseball and Ted Lilly and Jason Marquis are studs in the NL...though Marquis sucked bad last year

-David Weathers is the Reds Best Reliever

-
