I became a Bronco fan while living in southern Colorado from 84-87. I took my Broncomania to northern California where I suffered through the laughter and ridicule of Raider and 49er fans. Naturally, the Broncos won the Super Bowl a year after I graduated high school and moved to San Diego(my place of birth). I went ape shit when the Broncos won the Super Bowl along with millions of other Broncomaniacs. I now live in Sacramento with my wife and daughter and still ever obsessive about everything orange & blue.

MHR's Forgotten Broncos -- Marlin Briscoe
There has been much discussion in recent years about the ability of an African American to quarterback in the NFL. Prior to the new millennium, the Warren Moon’s and Randall Cunningham’s of the world were more exceptions to the rule rather than a rewriting of the rule. It wasn’t until the late 90’s and into our current time that African American quarterbacks finally began to be taken seriously by NFL teams, scouts, coaches, the media, and everyone else in America. There is no longer any debate that African Americans are every bit as able to command and lead at the quarterback position, nor is there any debate that a person is unable to grasp complex schemes and systems based on their race.

Is 2008 the new 1996?
My very first post as a member of MHR just a week or two after I finally joined MHR after a couple of months of lurking around was about 2007 looking eerily similar to 1995.
I’ve often wondered if I was right in my assumptions and I have flip flopped a couple of times thanks to Guru’s highly persuasive arguments on the subject of where the Broncos are in the rebuilding process. I have finally come full circle. Last year WAS 1995 and this year is 1996, which means we should win the division with a 12-4 or 13-3 record and get upset in the playoffs. Which will set the stage for another Super Bowl run in 2009.
As surprised as I am to say this, I think we will win the Super Bowl employing our usual two-back system that Shanny has been employing ever since Clinton Portis left. HoosierTeacher and I have debated the issue greatly in the past, so it was hard to admit he is right. I still think that if we draft a stud running back that this offensive would be unstoppable. I just can’t shake the feeling that having a two-back system messes up an offenses rhythm during the game, while also making it harder to fool the defense because of the situational players you are bringing in is a dead give away most of the time.
Anyways, I wanted to share the good feeling I have that our team is going to gel all season long…playing beyond their ability for the regular season. Our inexperience will cost us in the playoffs, but that loss will ignite a Championship run.
One last prediction before I get out of here, the New England Patriot’s dynasty is D-E-A-D. I know many of you will disagree, but they will not return to the Super Bowl in this decade. The humiliation of blowing a perfect record in the Super Bowl, coupled with the Spy Gate fiasco, will bring this team to its knees. I am not saying they won’t be a threat in the playoffs, but their aura of invincibility has been shattered and teams will play them tough every game. I see them falling to 9-7 this year, 6-10 in a good division, but the AFC East is a joke.

Anyone else freaked out by the fact that Jay Cutler was born two days after Elway was drafted by the Baltimore Colts? I do believe in destiny.

MHR's Forgotten Broncos -- Lionel Taylor

Not all Bronco's are completely forgotten, but there are times when the younger generation of fans need to remember the greats of the Bronco past. When the Denver Broncos formed in 1960 along with the AFL, they team was filled with no names and castaways. One of those men was a castaway from the Chicago Bears. Lionel Taylor went to the Bears in his rookie season after a stellar career at unknown New Mexico Highlands University. Taylor spent eight games with the Bears, mostly on the bench, logging zero pass catches and was released.

I need advice.
Ok, here is my dilemma. I have tickets to the Raider-Bronco game on opening day, but everyone I've talked too seems to think I would be nuts to wear my lucky Elway jersey to the game.
Does any Bronco fan here have any experience at all going to a Raider-Bronco game in Oakland? Would it be smart for me to wear nondescript clothing? lol F-ing fader fans...can't even let other people enjoy a game. It wouldn't bother me as much if I knew any potential fight would be fair...of course it wouldn't.
I might just have to say F it and wear it anyway...I paid the arm and leg to be there God nabbit! Ah screw it...you only live once right? I'll just have to make sure my brother brings his XD and CCW Permit just in case those convicts make a prison shank out of a plastic coffee lid. ;)
I just want to have fun with my brother and enjoy the experience...but all these comments online and in RL have started to make me a bit paranoid and its pissing me off. So if anyone has any thoughts I would appreciate it.

Or perhaps I should just wear a clear plastic bag over my entire body...

I got my tickets baby! September 8th, my Raider fan of a brother and myself will be at the Monday Night Football game in Oakland to watch the Broncos smash the faders back into last season! I think I got horrible seats, but oh well. I will basically be on the exact opposite end of the Black Hole. lol It's gonna kick ass either way!

MHR Broncos History Lesson -- Broncomania

I am of the biased opinion that there isn't a greater fan on this Earth than those who don the Orange & Blue of the Denver Broncos.
The great thing about Broncomania is that it means something different to each and every fan. To me it’s the fanatism I have in defense of all things Bronco. I grew up being ridiculed and picked on for being a Bronco fan when every other Tom, Dick, or Harry person in my class were either 49er fans or Raider fans. I took my licks with pride and wore more orange than I probably ever should have. I mean I had Bronco hats, jackets, jerseys, shirts, sweaters, sweatpants, shoes, socks, and even underwear! I had to make sure I wore something from my team every single day. For me, every day was
That experience doesn’t make me more of a Bronco fan than anyone else, it just changes my mentality a bit. For example, I look forward to talking smack to Raider fans more so than others, because I am just returning the favor of all the years of abuse I endured in the past. The definition of a Broncomaniac is different to each of us and the idea of Broncomania has evolved over the years.

MHR's Forgotten Broncos -- Floyd Little

Welcome to the newest segement of Broncos History. A special thank you to TrinidadJack for coming up with the name of Forgotten Broncos. I decided the best way to kick off a topic like this was to feature an article written by someone who lived through the experience. Floyd Little was thee Franchise while John Elway was making the difficult transition from running back to quarterback in pop warner. I understand many of you would take offense to Floyd Little being considered a Forgotten Bronco, but the point of this series to keep the memories of these past Broncos alive and well in the Bronco consciousness.
Simple stats or awards does not do justice to what Floyd Little meant to the fans and the city of Denver, so I hope you enjoy this article written by firstfan as much as I did.
