Why Stern is full of shiznit
The PR in the soon-to-be NBA locked saga has so far been lame and lamer, depending on which side you support. Because the players (that's my side) are clueless about how to present their side of the debate, I am going to try and lay down some knowledge. I want to try to help fans know what the real debate is about.
Imagine an nba owner as a restaurant owner who is basically absent from the business. He doesn't want to spend every day managing the day to day activities, he just wants to put up the funds and let that cash generate oodles of yearly cashola, thank you very much.
Playing helper in the Melo deal to Nets
So I saw this article saying the Cavs might be in on a deal to send Melo to the Nets. Wondering how it could work for us. That trade is supposed to happen with Melo obviously, and the Cavs could get in on it because they provide flexibility. I am ignoring the headline which is bullpucky, they aren't going to get no 5 1st rounders for him.
According to the article, the Cavs give their trade exception for...something. But the article also says there are a couple problems with the deal that need to be solved:
For now, the Nuggets want New Jersey to take Al Harrington and Renaldo Balkman as part of a package for Anthony, but they want the Nets to find another team for Troy Murphy and his $12 million expiring contract, and that’s proved fruitless so far....The Nets would have to move Devin Harris to a third team as part of a bigger deal, but league sources say they’ve had trouble finding an arrangement where they could get a quality point guard in return..
We can definitely take Murphy if his contract is expiring if we got the cap space to do it, I like Murphy but the point is he is off the books soon anyway. In a lost season that doesn't hurt at all.
I don't know if it makes sense to move maybe Sessions to the Nets to replace Harris, Mo is a little more expensive so that probably doesn't work. I don't really see how Harris is a good fit long term for the Cavs but he has played well and should be pretty easy to trade.
So, my question is, what do we want out of this? We got some picks going forward, do we take some young players like Ty Lawson or refuse to work with Denver unless we are adding good picks for ourselves? Thoughts anyone?
