The results of the Hungarian Mock Draft 2012 - Grade it!
As in the last 2 years, the Hungarian football loving community made their annual 7 round mock draft tonight. I participated on the behalf of Gene Smith & the Jaguars. Here are my selections:
1/7 Jacksonville Jaguars: Melvin Ingram, DE (South Carolina)
2/38 Jacksonville Jaguars: Brian Quick, WR (Appalachian State)
3/70 Jacksonville Jaguars: Chris Givens, WR (Wake Forest)
4/101 Jacksonville Jaguars: Michael Egnew, TE (Missouri)
5/142 Jacksonville Jaguars: AJ Jenkins, WR (Illinois)
6/176 Jacksonville Jaguars: Justin Bethel, FS (Presbyterian)
7/228 Jacksonville Jaguars (via Cincinnati): Ronnie Cameron, DT (Old Dominion)
I've chosen several FCS players to have a realistic draft. Also I focused to add some weapons to Gabbert, that's why the so many receiver picks. I must admit, if the news about Pot Roast would come before the mock draft, I'd probably selected Michael Brockers from LSU at 7, and add a DE in Round 2 or 3. Also both Bethel and Cameron are prospects the Jaguars shown interest already.
The results of the '11 Hungarian Mock Draft Game
The Hungarian football fans did once again a 7 round mock draft game earlier tonight. Last year we already made such a project, where 32 person elected for the 32 teams. You can read the results from '10 here: http://www.bigcatcountry.com/2010/2/25/1326871/the-results-of-the-hungarian-mock
Now let's see my picks for the Jaguars first:

So what do you think about my Jaguars picks BCC? And what's your take about this mock overall?
Scott Fujita; Billy Yates will missing from the Browns; Cribbs; Brown expected to play on Sunday
The Browns put RG Billy Yates on IR with biceps injury. Maybe Floyd Womack or John St. Clair will replace him (St Clair is good news; because he is not exactly a very good player...) David Bowens will replace Fujita; who is the leader of that defense.
However Joshua Cribbs who had not one but four disloceted fingers on his foot; is expected to play on Sunday along with CB Sheldon Brown.

SBNation expands in the next weeks with 20 regional sites
I found this article in the New York Times. SBNation; the company running 250+ blogs; one of that is our dear Big Cat Country getting bigger and regional(This statistics: So far, that service has been enough to draw eyeballs. According to comScore, in April, the network drew 3.6 million unique visitors to its 21 most popular sites, the only ones tracked by the market research firm is showing that not just BCC getting traction but other sites as well). As a result of this traffic 20 new local sites will be created in the very near future. I wonder there will be a a blog which spotlights the sports life of Florida among them?
Jerry Porter get another chance too(?)
This is crazy; after Matt Jones and Reggie Williams; it seems our 1 million dollar per catch ex-WR get another chance to play in the NFL as he was invited to a workout for the Washington Redskins (they signed earlier this week ex-Jaguars DE Greg Peterson as well).
By the way BCC; who has the best chance to make the 53 man roster from this 3?
Front page picture of the Florida Times Union - Jaguars section(Looks like today is Tebow day at the FTU; with 3 articles about put him into the spotlight).
For some this is the dream coming true. For others (like me) it is a scary scenario...
Baltimore Beatdown's mini Q&A with WR Donald Jones
Donald Jones the WR from Youngtown State; did a small Q&A session with SBNation's Ravens blog Baltimore Beatdown. Because the Jaguars sent scouts to see him play back last year. I think because of that fact - it is a worth a look for read this.
Mini interviews with Terrance Knighton & Aaron Kampman
2 mini interview with Terrance Knighton and Aaron Kampman about the start of the offseason strength and conditioning program; the D-line of the Jaguars in 2010; and about Aaron's knee's; and more
Wise words and great point from Gene Frenette about drafting Tebow
Next to Terry's piece (see and read here: http://blackandteal.com/2010/02/05/no-tim-tebow-hatred-here/ ) this is the best Tebow-Jaguars article I read recently. Great credits for it to Florida Times Union's Gene Frenette. The second half of the article is very; very good read. And this part concluding the whole Tebow question the best:
Anyone thinking the Jaguars should draft Tebow because he'd be a box-office draw misses the essence of a personnel evaluator's job. Let's say the Jaguars reach a lot higher than Tebow's assigned value, selecting him one or two rounds above his grade on the premise that he might sell "x" number of season tickets. Isn't that shortchanging the Jaguars and fans, by passing up significantly better players on the board for sentimental reasons?
The door is still open for Reggie Hayward
The good news: There is still chance that Reggie Hayward could play for the Jaguars in 2010
The bad news: The problem is not money. The problem is Reggie's role in the new D-line (with Aaron Kampman and Harvey). He still thinks he has much much more left in the tank:
"I'm not just a role player," he said. "I can be a game-changer."
Well he visited St Louis last week; but he didn't got a contract because the Rams signed one DE of their own free agents. So HayDay still looking for a team.
To be honest with you; I feel myself much more comfortable with the pass rush with him on the roster. So I hope the two sides will slowly but come closer to each other; and they can reach a new deal in the end!
Pat Kirwan - please stop writing Mock Drafts
I respect Pat Kirwan I really do; but he must stop posting mock drafts; because he will tear down all his credibility until April 22nd...
Demaryius Thomas, the WR, Georgia Tech at 10; when Haden ; McClain is still in??? Come on! I would draft Jason Pierre-Paul or Mike Iupati at 10 then him...
Stunning revelation - if there will be a salary cap 2010
If there would be a salary cap in 2010.. Well it doesn't matter for us. Check this statistic out:
AFC South
Houston Texans: $114 million.
Indianapolis Colts: $124 million.
Jacksonville Jaguars: $81 million.
Tennessee Titans: $115 million.
The next AFC South rival is spending 33 million bucks more then us. I don't know if the Kampman/Osgood contracts is in this list; but if not; the Jags would been 20 millions under the Texans still. And the Jaguars are still not at the bottom spot. The Bucs and the Chiefs spent 2 million $ less then us.
What is your view about this BCC? And please someone research that the 2 recent FA signings are in this list or not. I try to find out myself as well!
With the eleventh pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos select: Dez Bryant; wide receiver Oklahoma State
Well; looks like after Jay Cutler another playmaker is on the move because of Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels. Brandon Marshall is on his way out from Colorado(right now Seattle is the front runner for grabing him). Well the good news is for JMD that he can replace Marshall's abilities as a receiver (and as a person as well...)in the 1st round of the 2010 draft. Bryant is considered the best gifted receiver in this draft class; and McDaniels need a playmaker like him; now that he chased out Cutler and looks like Marshall. If Marshall goes away; this pick is a done deal in my opinion.
"Told JDR that I liked the fact he did interview w/Big Cat Country. JDR said he really enjoyed doing it. So BCC, that's a feather in ur cap."
The results of the Hungarian Mock Draft !
We just finished our Mock Draft at NFL.hu. Of course I took the role of Gene Smith for the Jaguars. There were no complementory picks; and the Jaguars picked at 11th (We didn't do the round rotation - sorry for that).
I picked:
1st Rolando McClain (LB, Alabama)
3rd Greg Hardy, (DE, Ole Miss)
4th Brandon Carter (OG, Texas Tech)
5th Alterraun Verner (CB, UCLA)
6th John Estes (C, Hawaii)
I went for BAP in the 1st then I went for need. I cannot got a good FS; that's why I picked Verner at CB. And Estes was a result of every good looking C was picked before me.Feel free to discuss my selections.
Coin flip for No. 10 Friday
So the big moment is here. Maybe bacause the Broncos could take McClain before us; I hope the Jags will win it. But that is my take. What's yours?
Gene Smith talks about his plans about the 2010 draft
Very good read about the plans of GM Gene Smith. The important points are:
- Trading down is once again "Plan A"
- Goal Nr. 1 is to make stronger the defensive line
- Passrusher is key to address; but will stick with the BAP philosophy
- Gene Smith would like to get that second-round pick back
- He’s also hoping the league will award two compensatory picks to the Jaguars
- And last but not least: The draft board has already been stacked! The combine will be used to clearify it.
ONLY 1 Jaguars player in Paul Kuharsky's '09 AFC South team
Ouch; that's looking bad. Yeah Kuharsklky said Jags are unfortunate; and so; but the only Jaguars player who made the cut is WILLIAM MIDDLETON???? At ST...That's felt so bad that hurts(because Kuharsky is actully KNOW this division and this team unless some of the "experts")...
"It was one of the worst workouts I have ever seen..."
That was an opinion from anonymous Bengals' staff member to the workout of former 1st round Jaguars draft pick Matt Jones.
Well if he was that bad; WHYIN THE WORLD THE BENGALS SIGNED HIM???
Fans and Vic are spoken: The All-time Jaguars team
So the fans and Vic are spoken. Nothing really big surprises in my opinion. Feel free to discuss the results of the fans (us) and Vic's list as well!
Expect some Jags cuts today. Should go down in the next hour or two.

Vote for the Jaguars All-Time Team
You can vote for Jaguars All-Time Team on Jaguars.com! The result will be revealed on February 16th (iwith Vic's all tiime list as well)
Tebow, Jones-Drew to be grand marshals at Daytona
I'M sure some will see as another sign that the Jags will draft Tebow. If I would be a gambler; I'll put some amount of money that some "experts" will do that...
Maurice Jones-Drew speaking about Tebow
I agree with Kuharsky; MJD is a smart guy. My main reason is against the drafting Tebow scenario is: if he fails; that can be the END of professional futball in Jacksonville....
Also Paul Kuharsky collected some credits (he is trusted source for me since a long time) because he wrote this:
Way too many people are making Tebow-to-Jacksonville a foregone conclusion. I don't think it happens. Gene Smith is a scout, not a marketing man. We talked about that back in December.
Gene Smith's role is changing. He'll have power to pull trigger on JDR as soon as next season in my opinion.
LA folks tell me Roski group is actually meeting w/different owners this week. I'm told they've got a meeting scheduled w/Jags, too.
via twitter from Michael C Wright
I expect Torry Holt to be released. I feel fortunate to have been able to work with him for a season. He’s a true pro.
Gene Smith's take on (mostly defensive) players and Tebow at the Senior Bowl
Here is Jagurs GM Gene Smith Talking about which players caught his eyes this week in Alabama at the Senior Bowl. He pointed out several defensive lineman in the article (Start to look for DE Austen Lane from Murray State-I think he is more then just a "good looking player type of" guy for he Jaguars! )
He also spoke about the spotlight of the whole game-Tim Tebow.
Next stop for Gene and the scouts: Texas vs. the nation game next week. The Jaguars found Terrance Knighton in that game a year ago and Smith said the talent pool for that game has been strengthened.
Top 25 player salaries of '09 - 2 Jaguars on the list!!!!
OK; I would pay that much money without any regret for Maurice Jones-Drew. But Derrick Harvey???? WOW; the league must do something with the rookie contracts...
Official 2010 Combine Invitee List
I think Collin will go to the combine to make an extended coverage over there. Now you can read in this list which players will be there!
