BCC reports that 2 games will be played in England next year. I think the Jaguars have good chance to go there; against the Eagles or the Redskins. I think the eagles game has more chance to that...

Not so long ago John showed us statistics from the site profootballfocus.com to show how our lineman are improving/falling back. Well I kept my eye on these stats; and I have some news (not just from the O-line this time)

Let's see how he O-line is doing first.

He is well not playing so well in the last 2 weeks; He's NFL rookie exam is closing (rematch with Dwight Freeney on Thursday night next week) so I hope he will find the way to play better.

He has a very good game against the 49ers; he did no so well against the Texans.

Conclussion: Britton on the rise; Meester on the free fall...More time need to rebuild the O-line

Now turn to the defensive side of the ball. And I have good news. our last year megabust candidates all of udden are back and playing very good. Derrick Harvey had 2 really good game in the row-and he had 3 games in row in the positive. Keep on going Derrick; the Jaguars need you against Miami :

And he played deep in the negativ against the Texans; and it is a really bad news because he will most likely replace Big John against the Dolphins...It seems lately the DEs doing great in the D-line and the DTs playing average...Suprise; surprise...

The Weird Season

Thoughts about schizophrenic things about the Jaguars; a possible unholy alliance in the making and very surprising pick for this year's AFC Championship title

I don't know how you guys think about this current football season but for me it's geting more interesting; with weird signs about the Jaguars; and I expecting more freakish turns yet then you see one season in Lost! IM talking not just about the Jaguars but the AFC in general. I try to focus on the big picture; but forgive me if I losing in some minor details

The Schizophrenic season:

Yes the Jaguars and Jags fans are living a season like that in this year. First of all I'm slowly going crazy balanicing between the 2 words: "rebuilding" and "playoffs". My racional side says; hey this team has 13 rookies 27 new guys; leading the NFL with rookie starts (46 and counting). This is year one under a new GM. This is rebuilding year. If they finish with 8-8; the Jags should borrow those odd "Mission Accomphlished" banners from the previous U.S. administration (this time for real..) ; and we could feel very good about this season. The Arrow pointing up; we seen a bunch of new key core players who will serve this franchise for years; and can look optimistic to the future.

BUT! This december; and the Jaguars are still on a wildcard place (6th seed to be exact). We are know that we are not a playoff caliber team but we are still there and still have real hopes to go there(another schizophrenic sign).The 2009 schedule is so easy; that the 2007 Jaguars would go easily as the 5th seed; probably they would stand as the 2nd best record in the AFC right now... I'm 100% sure about that; because this team which is much-much weaker then that was(By the way it was the last team to win in the playoffs from the very hard AFC South division-just remind everyone to that little FACT) standing still on the 6th position. And they have every chance to go in there; if they win-out the last 3 home games.

Which will be not easy; but not impossible. Although I'm not so optimistic about Sunday's game against the Texans as many people are (Tyron Brackenridge meet Andre Johnson-That mismatch alone scars me to death; not to mention how many times evryone expected a W and ended up with an L against Houston).; but I agree with a good gameplan (I say GOOD Mr. Koetter) the Jaguars might defeat the Texans in an another nailbiter; and with that eliminate the last chance to keep Gary Kubiak his job as a head coach in Texas...Then Miami is coming to town; I have respect for the defense and the wildcat; but I think that team has there advantage (running game) where the Jags have too (run defense). I expect another close game; another nailbiter. And if ; I said IF these 2 games turn out with a W; the Jaguars are one foot in the playoff. And fortunately(?) if that happens the Jaguars may find a weird friend. an unexpected guardian angel. Ladies and gentleman: I intoruce you the Indianapolis Colts

Intermezzo 1:Unholy alliance

No; please don't look so weird; I have serious logical argument for this part. First of all I think the Colts will go 13-0; making a very great service to the Jaguars: Stopping the Titans momentum this week(and with that eliminating them from the playoffs; you cannot go there with 9-7...); and the Broncos (another serious AFC wildcard contender); and they will look at the standings(Once again I repeat this scenario is possible ONLY with Jaguars standing 8-5 on week 15); and will thought this: We clinched homefield advantage in the AFC; we can rest our staters; and look; if we help here the Jaguars they might go in; and leave out serious problems called: Pittsburgh Steelers; and Baltimore Ravens. Are we wanna face with Roetlishberger in the playoffs? Nope! Do we wanna risk; that Ed Reed pick Peyton's passes and turn them into TDs? Nope! So let help to bring this stinker Jaguars in the playoffs; they barely defeated the Rams and the Bills at home... Bill Polian probably "love" the Jaguars the way Vic Ketchman "love" Polian. But now the 2 team can help each other; for good; selfish reasons. Everyone give the Jaguars an L on that game. If the Jaguars standing 8-5; then I have bigger confidence because of that then before the Rams game. See? Ok we have the Patriots game. Which is by the waystill scares me to death; even after MNF. there defense are terrible; so MJD and co MIGHT have a little shot there. But I don't like the Tom Brady vs no pass rush scenario; even with Rashean Mathis in the backfield. If the Jaguars can manage to finish it under -30; that is a little success. And then the Browns. They put to IR Jamal Lewis; Shaun Rogers is on there too ; the I think quit on Eric Mangini; and have one player who can play Joshua Cribbs. If the Jaguars lose that game I would be extremly disapointed. And if the win then it is 10-6; with 9-3 in the AFC. In other words playoffs. So if the Jaguars win this Sunday they made a much bigger step then anybody things just yet...Intermezzo 1 ends.

The Jaguars fans have another reason for being schizophrenic. The way the team plays. It is really Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde case. 5 of the 4 losses looked sometimes really bad (even San Fransisco-although there the Jaguars just beat themselves there). And even when the Jaguars have a good day; they manage to keep it really close (Rams; Chiefs; Bills; and a little bit against the Jets; although I think that was the signature win this season so far). I think the Jaguars haven't play 100% in offense this season. If they do (except maybe the Vikings/Saints duo) they could beat almost every team (specially at home...). But every Jaguars fan keep guessing all week long which Jaguars will show up(another thing which drives me crazy). And that is weird; but I can take it from a rebuilding team. Where (another weird thing) you see struggling veterans more then struggling rookies. Take the offensive line. (concern area NR. 2 right behind lack of passrush). I not saying Eben Britton and specially Eugene Monroe playing consistently good; but David suffering more and more about the interior part more. Sorry to say that but Bred Meester's starting days are numbered. I would keep him next year; to teach a new guy; but with him happend just what happened with many last year-got old in 1 season. Vince Manuwai-well that ACL just broke his career; maybe we will not see him next year. The only guy who playing really well is that Uche Nwaneri; that many expected to weakest chain link in the offensive line. Oh by the way; until you don't find a peplacement; Tra Thomas is pretty much safe. A backup; yeah I wanna keep him in. Plus he is an extremly good guy; who might can teach Monroe still like Holt do with the young receivers. Weird isn't it?

You get that weirdness on defense: Who would you expect to have a big year this season? Clint ingram; who is in his contract year. Lately when I see playing him; I see a draft pick tag; just don't now in which round the Jags can trade it yet. I see 2010's Tony McDaniel too: Derek Landri (aka M. I. A.) Sad story. Many expected he might will be the starter at the DT position and he is 100% sure leave this team one way or another. I don't know what Gene Smith planing on Quentin Groves; but beaten by 2 not so good UDFA(!!!!) rookies (Bryan Smith; and now Julius Williams) at the starting job saying your days are might numbered(I think he has a low round trade pick value) Falling down on the 4 yard line in New York was your swan song; Quentin (by the way nobody is angry and frustrated about the fac; that the Jaguars defense hasn't scored points this season yet; and today is the start of Week 13? Because I do!) And Reggie Nelson. I hope he had the memo; that the Jaguars scouts are focusing almost just safeties and corners lately. To translate to Reggie; your job is in danger my friend. Big danger (But I would like too see him with real passrush again. He was good in 2007; last time the Jaguars could do what they lacking of still-Rushing the passer; and sack him.) By the way I know Gene not likes free agency much; but he must sign a good guy/proven veteran ; proven I mean=sack the QB; with a smart contract. The Jags cannot rely just on a possible drafed rooke alone! And if we speak about passrush. I start to moderate my opinion about Derrick Harvey. I consider him a giant bust (because of the price the Jags payed for him in money and draft picks-plus because he was drafted to have a sack; and he didn't have one in this season yet...) He is (with Terrance Knighton and John Henderson) part of a slowly stonewall run defense which is the biggest surprise I expected from this team. Limited Frank Gore in San Fransisco in under 40 yards; shut down Steven Jackson; Thomas Jones; Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch? That is quite something. I fear about one thing. It might save Ted Monachno's job too. But I think it is not so much related on him; instead of the Jaguars have a Henderson-Stroud-ish DT duo in the middle again. The reason I'M NOT on the "Trade Henderson" camp. I wanan see extra picks; but not on losing Big John. (Once it backfired: does anyone remember the Marcus Stroud trade anyone?)

Intermezzo 2: Under the radar over the top!

I saw enough weird things throughout the NFL this year and it is far from over. We saw the fall and rise of the Titans (Vince Young is back; is it for real?) The fall and rise of the Giants; And Broncos (but in Denver's case the jury is still out). We seen 3 powerhouses (Indy; New Orleans and Minnesota) who are more then impressive(I can see a 3 way tie for season MVP between Drew Brees; Peyton Manning and the guy who will never retire really also know as Brett Favre). I think Minnesota and New Orleans just too good to the other NFC teams (Green Bay and Philadelphia is a dark horse but I see less chance in them to defeat both teams) so expect 1 of them to playing in Miami representing the NFC.

But which team will be represented the AFC? Colts? Well probably; but I think they will freezed again and will not manage one of the late 4th quarter comebcaks Peyton Manning doing on regular basis lately on the REGULAR season... New Engalnd? There defense is stinks compared to Bill Belichick's recent teams; Tom Brady is not the same as he was; elite QB; but not lethal accurate passer; then he was until Week 1 last year. I expect Denver make the playoffs (who would thought after all the turmoil with Jay Cutler-by the way; Denver just robbed the Bears on that trade...)but I think Orton cannot carry them to win it all. I expect the Jaguars to make it as 6th seed; but forget it; we are not a playoff team. I hope if they somehow reach the playoffs then Jaguars dying while they standing (I mean lose a nailbitter battle) I'm 100% OK with that. Which leaves to 2 teams. San Diego Chargers have an Elite QB ( that is no problem I just can't stand the guy) in Philip Rivers; and he is capable to drive the Chargers into the AFC title game. Maybe beyond that.

But the real sleeper is a team last year was nearly fired his head coach and blew the whole thing up(see the parallelism with the Jaguars?). They now sure happy that didn't do that. I speak about Marvin Lewis and his Bengals. They have all the parts what make them Superbowl ready. They run the ball; stop the run; have an elite defense (1st in points allowed; I'm stunned when I saw that statistics) a very good QB who has loaded with weapons.and who knows; Larry Johnson was maybe their last missing piece. They not just beat; they sweep the Steelers and the Ravens. and let's not forget that they lost by a very lucky hali marry on opening day to Denver. Nobody talks abou them; so they are under the radar and can go easily to the top. So don't be surprised if the AFC Champions will be called the Cincinnati Bengals..Intermezzo 2 ends

Another weird thing come to mind by the coaching changes before the season. Remember when everyone(specially Colts fans) laughed when the Jaguars hired Russ Prunell to replace Joe Decamillis? Well looks like Indy's talent was that bad. Because he is pretty much of positive surprise. His unit not did any very sexy things; but (knock; knock; knock) the Jaguars didn't got any TD from returning teams yet. Other very good hire was defensive coordinator Mel Tucker. He doing a solid job; I gave credit to him and (Jack Del Rio) that the offense isn't a total failure just yet. Without no passrush ll season long they could shut down teams? I think if Gene adress the defense next year watch out. I expect big things from him. And a big respect shout to the new Strength & Conditioning coach Luke Richesson. When everywhere in this league suffering major losses every week (Bills anyone?) the Jaguars put IR 2 key player yet so far(sadly the best and only pass rusher Reggie Hayward on week 1; and rookie WR hopefull Jarett Dillard after week 10); the rest of the IR guys where jar on the shelfs like Scott Starks and Troy Williamson. There are Rob Meier there (another guy you will not see again as a Jaguar... ) and "the steal from Cleveland" Don Carey). There are very few injures this year. So the Jaguars are very lucky. Or isn't they? Because the 2 players who are regular guest on the injury list are Rashean Mathis and Justin Durant. Rashean are starting to battle with injury after injury; and Durant has a concussion...

So here there are bad and good things. So you can see; this is a very weird season for the Jaguars and for the NFL. I think we will see twists and turns we cannot imagine yet. We will see big surprises yet; and huge disapointments. I think we will be surprised by the Jaguars in positive (they will play against a real good team 100%ly on offense)and negative (they will suffer at least one more blowout) way. I cannot wait to experience and discuss them.

I could go here a Bill Maher-ish overtime with all the troubles of the ticketsales; Los Angeles; and not to mention a Jacksonville native wearing Nr. 15 on his jersey; but I think you have enough stuff to debate and talk about here.

So feel free to debate or challenge (or agree) with my points; I'm opened as always for any opinon.I hope after the Cleveland game ends no matter what will be the Jaguars record; Jaguars fans will have more sweet; then bittersweet memories about this season. I can't wait for the remaining part of the 2009 NFL season. And I'm sure I'm not alone with that.

The X-factor for the 49ers game; other quick thoughts about the season

The Jaguars facing another very tough road game this weekend in San Fransisco against the 49ers. We all know how the last trip ended on week 5 against the Seahawks in Seattle (0-41). I think this Jaguars are a different; more maure team then the Jaguars played in Qwestfield in October. But still the 49ers is I think a team that is more then meets the eye. It will be very difficult to beat them. But the Jaguars have a big X-factor on this Sunday. Their secret weapon is the best Jaguar of the roster: Maurice Jones-Drew. Yeah you heard right; he is carrying our secret weapon on Sunday. What is that secret weapon; well? Well continue reading.

The secret weapon: Maurice has a special game on Sunday! Belive it or not it will be his VERY FIRST NFL GAME IN CALIFORNIA! And that mean he will going home! Yeah he is a 4th year pro; but yet he never played in his home state; the place he lived most time of his life. To have more luck: San Fransisco is very close to the place he lives in the offseason; Antioch; California. I'm sure many of his friend will be in Candlestick Park. Maurice even siad on NFL Network to Rich Eisen that his game will be special for him. I know MJD was held to 66 rushing yards by the worst rush defense in the NFL(thank that because of the very good LB Paul Posluszny) Now he will face the 6thbest rush defense; with the fantastic Patrick Willis who many says can be "best defensive player of the year"; and head coach Jack Del Rio just called him the best LB in the game on the "Jack Del Rio show". Coming from the mouth of jack that means even bigger acknowledgement! I know the trip might can product (again) troubles again. But with that special motivation by the best player of our team; having a not so good game last week; I think we can expect a very big game from Maurice; which might lead to the victory.

I have some other thoughts. I think this team will grab the targets what we have in our head before the season started; 8-8. (I know nothing is granted; but I think how Cleveland looks most of the time the Jaguars can beat them; and I see at least 1 victory in the next 5 games). But maybe if the Jaguars will finish wih 8-8; it can produce a bit bittersweet taste in some's mouth. Maybe in my mouth too. But no matter how this season ends; the Jags did more so far then I expected so far.I hope they keep continuing surprise me and you and everyone in the positive way; 1-2 times more this year.

If the Jaguars somehow win 4 more games; they are most likely IN the playoffs(91%). I know there is along way to go; but if this team keep continue winning; then the very fantastic aim. That will be no easy. 49ers are a goodteam (more on that a bit later); Texans with that offense is very dangerous; we can not know how the Dolphins will play against us(although they lost Ronnie Brown; but have left enough playmakers)and then meet Peyton and Tom. BUT! That Colts game can be good for us. If the Colts can clinch the AFC until week 15 (they have a good shot to do that) maybe they will tank that game; and maybe they will let us win. I think we are a good team; but not that good as for example the Ravens; Steelers; Broncos. So a bit weaker team (Jaguars)in the playoff instead of a stronger team(the others I just mentioned) might serve the Colts interest better(to be honest with you; I would do that; and this time not the Jaguars fan; but the logical man speaks here) to let a team like the Jaguars in and left a team like the Steelers; Ravens; Broncos; or the Titans out. So maybe that week 15 game is not a 90 % loss. I can see Jim Sorgi at QB on that game most of the time(Peyton Manning will start to have his Brett Favre-ish starting series; but might will sit down after the 1st or the 2nd drive)..

And by the way; the Jaguars were the winners of week 11. If the Jaguars win on Sunday and have more luck they can win even bigger on week 12: Look the schedule Broncos-Giants ( I think Denver is heading there, where the experts expected them before the season..); Ravens-Steelers (Big game on SNF; and if the Ravens win they do us a huge favour; plus the Steelers might be without Polamalu and Roetlishberger) and Texans-Colts (I think the winning streak will continue; The Texans don't have the defense to stop Manning...) they all can end up with helping the Jaguars! All we need to do is (somehow) win it he bay area...(Oh by the way; folks keep 1 eye on the Titans; they might be in the hunt too. Who would expected that after New England and the 0-59?...)

Now more about this 49ers game. Man; they have play makers. Frank Gore; Patrick Willis; Vernon Davis; and yes Michael Crabtree(I watched him on full games this season; he will be one of the best WR even with a QB like Alex Smith under center. Imagine if a Drew Brees would be his QB...) I think the Jaguars run defense can limit Gore; just as they limited Thomas Jones; Marshawn Lynch& Fred Jackson; and Steven Jackson lately; I expect the same from John Henderson; and Terrance Knighton; specially with Justin Durant looks like to return to the lineup. I have fears because of Rashean Mathis will miss another game; and although the Jaguars secondary shut down one good receiver (Lee Evans); they let Terrell Owens have his best games since years. The 49ers have 2 good receivers. Vernon Davis; and Michael Crabtree. I think Sean Considine will cover Vernon Davis; and he needs to have a similar good game he had against the NY Jets. Derek Cox must limit Crabtree.

But I think the biggest match-up will be Frank Gore vs Maurice Jones-Drew. 2 Top 10 Offensive and Defensive player will play against each other. I heard that Willis felt ashamed against the Packers; and he promised a very tough Defense this weekend. It will be a very big battle. Dirk Koetter must be really smart. Their backfield might be a good area for David Garrard and the air strike of the Jaguars. Mike Sims-Walker; Torry Holt (I think he might will have the 1st TD as a Jaguar; and he might be the key for a victory) the reborned Marcedes Lewis; who are looking like a 1st round TE; and of course Mike Thomas. So Dirk this might be a good week to be pass happy; but with a specially motivated Maurice Drew; please don't forget about the running game.. again...

Another playoff game in the regular season. Can't wait for it; as for the rest of the season. I have mixed feelings about this game. If the jaguars can put Jets like performance; we have a shot in San Fransisco. What we saw last Sunday will be not enough.

I hope I will see the repeat of the Jets game; with similar outcome. Boy if that happened we are (almost sure) on 8-8-primary goal is accomplished and we can continue dreaming. I hope we will see the repeat of the Jets game with similar outcome. Because if so then I can see my favourite team winning once again on TV. Because the news just arrived that the 49ers-Jaguars game was selected to broadcasted here in Hungary on Sunday. One more reason I hope for a good game which will end with a victory.

Explanation of my bold prediction

I made a bold prediction before the game started. I not counted for a win. But I back my words; so I explain why made that (veeeery bold) prediction. You can call it unrealistic; stupid or else. To be clear; I still consider myself the "Patience" guy who will be happy with an 8-8 record. But I must stay true what I opredicted; so here is my thesis and explanation. I wrote that to the game preview topic just before the kickoff:
Now here is my bold/stupid statement of 2009:

IF THE JAGUARS WIN THIS GAME THEY WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!

And here is why(game by game discrition)

1. game: Bills. Sure Buffalo have the offensive firepower( Lee Evans; Marshawn Lynch; Fred Jackson and the ticking timebomb) Bu the QB Trent Edwars is not playing his best football yet. Also they are dead last against the rush. So if Maurice put120+ yards on the Jes defense; imagine what he will do with them. And if they loading the box; then it will be David Garrard pass to-Mike Sims Walker; -Torry Holt; -Mike Thomas; -Tiquan Underwood; -Marcedes Lewis; -Zach Miller. 2. Game: San Fransisco. I know many fear a lot of this game. Trip to the west; etc. I have my concerns. BUT! I see these 49ers this week. They are everything but unbeatable. Jay Cutler threw 5 picks and almost won that game! There defense is good; but not better then the Jets D. They good against the run; but terrible gainst the pass-although I wanna see how they handle the redhot Maurice Jones Drew. You need to limit Patrick Willis. You need to do it with Frank Gore too. Michael Crabtree is very good; Vernon Davis is a threat. But there QB no matter if it's Shaun Hill or Alex Smith is everything but good. Also Coach "samurai" Mike Singeltary is overrated. He is a good defensive mind; but not a good head coach. He is a less good version of Jack Del Rio! (prediction: win; record 7-4)

3. game Houston. Big Game. Matt Schaub is on fire. But he has only 1 real receiver left and that is Andre Johnson. If you can limit him; like the Jags do on Week 3; you almost pull out a victory. There defense is still stinks no matter how good Brian Cushing will play. The Jags will beat them in a very hard fought game. (prediction: win; record 8-4)

4. game Miami. Another HUGE game against the Dolphins. if my prediction is correct the jags will be redhot now. It will be a "run the ball; stop the run" game with lot of tricky plays. The Jaguars need all their power to win it. But I think front off an almost soldout stadium; they will do; and run away with a W in the end. (prediction: win; record 9-4)

5.game Indianapolis. Now here is my boldest prediction of the whole post. The Jaguars will beat the Colts. How?-you might you ask it. I tell you.. If the Colts need to win this game yet(not clinched hoime field advantage for the playoffs)- Peyton Manning will playing with our secondary. and might tear them aapart. But so will do the Jags runshing attack with there ravaged defense(they are already without Sanders). The Jags could play with Indy when they were really bad (2 games of 2008.one win; one almost win-from team that was much worse then this-1 game this year; smallest margin of defeat yet!))The Jags will make here a huge upset and statement. (prediction: win; record 10-4)

6.game New England. Now we don't win this one. This is too high order. We have no luck against Brady and co. I think it will remain this year too. All I hope is very close game; and seeing Fred on the field. (prediction: loss; record 10-5)

7.game Cleveland. Hey with all the respect it is Cleveland under head coach "Total Disaster" Switch off joshua Cribbs-scor early; and rest the core players-to stay healthy (prediction: win; record 11-5)

We have a lots off tiebraker vicotries if this happen; so I don't think we will share the fate of the '08 patriots. Jags will go to the wild card; and will play against the Broncos/Steelers

So here is my BOLD prediction. This is NOT the usual "post victory over the top" article. I'm still the patience guy. I still stick with 8-8 good season thing. I know it is rebuilding. (By the way the Jags have equally wins on Week 10 then after week 17 last year...)But I made a bold prediction and back my words with this.

Debate it; call it waaaay to optimistic; feel free for do that. But after a huge win like this I'm telling you:
ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!!!!!!! Including this prediction will becoming the reality!

Being the Devil's advocate-my view on the Jack Del Rio watch

OK; compared the head coach to the Devil is a bit too strong-in many; many ways; but after the loss against the Titans many Jaguars fans including here on this place called for his head on a plate..again. I still don't get that reaction although I share some of the concerns about him. But I still think he can still lead this team to great things. I collected some points which are showing why I think the reaction and the chant to fire him is a bit too early (at least to say). And I offer a maybe unusual way to helping judge his coaching in this season.

1. Talent of the current team

I know you might bored about this; but let's face it. This roster is not on the same level with the elite teams yet on regular basis. We saw they can beat or play close games with good teams (Colts-Week 1; Texans Week 3)But this roster is still having huge holes. If you don't beliveme; then please think about who are the guys from this team who would start in a top teams of the league? I found 3: Maurice Jones-Drew; Rashean Mathis; and Justin Durant. I think 9-10 guys of this team could make the roster of elite teams (Just to name a few: David Garrard; Daryl Smith; Greg Jones; Josh Scobee; he might could be the kicker at elite teams; and from the rookies Eben Britton, Terrance Knighton, and Mike Thomas) But this is not so much. We have major problems because there is simply no one can rush the passer. The Jaguars are so desperate thta poor Daryl Smith is the guy who was sent to blitz lately..Pass-protection is another area where the Jaguars lack talent yet. Although the Jaguars have good corners-the safety area is still a mess. Maybe we have one legitim starter at Gerald Alexander; but other then him I see no solution. And the Jags claimed 5 or 6 safeties and corners during the offseason. Is that Jack's fault? Is his fault that those who are drafted to get the QB are cannot do that, no matter who protect it(a 4th LT activated from the practice squad and the Jags are dead last at sacks...They have 5 sack in 7 games games, no one has more then 1...I'm 100% sure that he teach his players tackle well. I sure because he is very upset about that part I see and hear on and from him. If the jags has the the talent; and Jack is still there yet; he will turn this group of people(I'm mean here defense) back to the top 10. And by the way; which part is the backbone of the defense? The linebackers. I don't wanna steal credits from Mark Duffner for that but I think Jack's hand is one reason why the are the most reliable group of the defense.

2. Don't forget what he archived

I watched the Green Bay-Minnesota game, and I just thought; why is that upset about Favre? Now he is the enemy because he is on another team(Yeah I know the way he got to Minnesota was not the gentleman-like that is for sure and he is currently quite overhyped too says the least...). But he was one of the key of that team's success for years. He lead and won a Superbowl. And although Jack has not that great record and success-but facts are facts his 6 year was not exactly bad times. From 4 of his previous 6 years as a head coach this team was contender to the playoffs. 2 of them he went to there. The first appearance was a small disaster because of his choice to start the injured Byron Leftwich instead of Garrard-yeah that is true. But the second attempt, his team did something no other team done in NFL history beat the Steelers back-to back in 1 season in their home field. Then his team was very close to defeat the New England Patriots in their home too. And I tell you if the jags would win that game, they would have represented to AFC on Superbowl XLI...It's a shame that the window of opportunity closed on that night. We wait and hope to the next opening which will come soon (even with Jack as head coach)

3. Selection of coaches

That is I agree a tricky subject. Jack had good (Mike Smith, Joe Decamilis; Mike Tice) and bad (Gregg Williams; Donnie Henderson; and "fan favourite-including mine" Ted Monachino) choices in his career as a head coach. I'm not sure about the most talked about coach these days; offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.Yeah he blew the last game with not handing the ball to Maurice (if Jack ordered really run in the very early phases of the game that would raise other questions for another topic) ; but no matter how good Maurice is-you must ta least try to be balanced with the run and the pass. Yeah Koetter is obsessed with the pass; but he has a reason to that. In the recent past, when the jaguars running game was feared in the NFL; the Steelersand DC legend Dick Lebeau had the cure load the box. If the Jaguars use Maurice (it seems the only effective runner of the team) that would happen with him again; and don't expect so often a mistackle parade like the Titans defense showed on those 2 beautiful TDs. Which why the Jags must use more the passing game then the running game in my opinion. Or the most ideal would be throw and run about 50-50% But to go back to my point; I think most of the Jaguars current coaches are good guys-I think Monachinois the only one with who's absence is something I would have no problem...Yeah Joe Decamilis and Gregg Williams is left because they andJack were not on the same page. Specially in Joe"s case that is something I really sorry. But If I look at the Jaguars coaching staff jack made expect one guy good selections.

4. How Jack's fate as a coach should be judged in my opinion

This years is will be played by under the word: rebuilding. No matter how tempting is our schedule; most likely the jaguars won't make it. which might come good to. Don't look mad at this point; I don't like to see the jaguars lose either. But they can concentrate to build the new guys to the team; can focus who are the players who cannot help (My candidates are at this point includes Reggie Nelson; Brian Russell; And maybe 1 or 2 guys who are still on the roster of he 2008 draft sadly); and in the end having a top 16 or maybe even Top 10 offense! And of course the basic goals: playing better as a team and try to reach the 7-9/8-8 record. If Jack and his team reach the most of these goals or all; he can and I think must stay as head coach and my trust and support will remain on him.

But I give you another good example to watch for. You know the most thing (other then the passrush-pass protection problems) of the '09 jaguars is that if they lose; I know that around the 3 Quarter; maybe even on the 2nd. They didn't produce close ball games when they have a bad day or the opponent is the better team on that day. This bothers me. And in this area; We have luck to see what happens this year. Because other then 2 (or maybe just 1) opponents (week 15-16; games against the Colts and Patriots-although this team can play close games with indy even if they are not so good) there are no unbeatable opponents of the schedule. So we can see how the Jags lose if (and most likely they will lose games) how the Jaguars will handle the opponents in the second half of the season. Remember; many expert said it that the rebuilding most show the first consistent signs of improvement of the second part of the season. Well I can't wait for that. Because if the jaguars will lose for example against the 49ers or the Jets or the Dolphins in a very big battle; within 2-3 points; in nail biters-I say Ok Jack you can continue your work in 2010. But if we saw the same thing we saw on last sunday or against Seattle or in most parts of the Arizona game; then it is time for another head coach to take over.

So; I stick in the rest of the season with my "patience for rebuilding" point of view. I will trust in Jack; and(unless he not showing consistent signs in the second half in an other direction) I will defending him even if he must accept defeat on gameday until the last game. After that I made my judgement. I think Gene Smith is also looking Jack's situation like I do. I think the conclusion will be the same. Jack has 9 games (more then half of the season) to make sure t me; to you; to the ownership that this team goes the right direction under him as head coach.I think after the final game in Cleveland; we will all know what is next. Until that time; remain critical; but please stop calling for his head. Please stop push the alarm button after every lost game. I will keep saying over and over again my word for the season: Patience. And that is what every Jaguars fan who care about this team should do!

Marc Bulger will start on Sunday; news from the Jags locker room

This just in. The St. Louis Rams announced that Marc Bulger will be their starting QB on Sunday against us:

The QB question has been answered. The St. Louis Rams will start QB Marc Bulger against Jacksonville in week 6. Kyle Boller has a concussion, a mild one, but Bulger will get the nod anyway, as long as he can practice injury-free this week.

OT Jason Smith is closer to a return, and some of the other lingering injuries players are dealing with seem to be moving in the right direction. SS James Butler is day to day. I'd really like to see this guy get back on the field, though Craig Dahl has done well filling in for Butler. CB Justin King might miss time with a bruise on his knee, or he might not.

Take a look at some of the positive things Spagnuolo commented on. One of them, offensive line play, was kind of an underrated plus this week. Alex Barron rebounded after his benching last week. I still don't see the Rams running through Jacob Bell much on the stat sheet, and that bothers me.WR Tim Carter is back.

After yesterday's blowout, and the fact that sadly the Jaguars are lacking to rush the passer, I don't know if I'm happy or not with this news. Our old freind (and my mentor) Vic ketchman said recently in "Jaguars Monday", that after watching the Rams against Minnesota yesterday (plus how the team played) it might be not a easy W as we might think now. I saw them against the 49ers just a week ago. They were awfull on offense (besides poor Stephen Jackson) and showed some signs on defense-James Laurinaitis might be such a threat what Aaron Curry were on Sunday. I hope he Rams will be the perfect candidate for bouncing back, but after yesterday I'm not sure on anything a bit.

Other news: Today in the jaguars locker room, Mike Sims-Walker and Quentin Groves apologized before the whole team after what they did on the weekend. Groves are fought with his tears, witnesses told (Vic said Groves panicked because he thought he would be late for the plane, and that caused most likely the accident) I hope the Jaguars can be unite as a team again on Sunday. And maybe this bitter experience will do good in the short and specially on the long way.

We have a rough week, but I think this defeat actully bring us back on track-this is a team in a rebuilding, with major problems (pass-rush; both lines just to name a few) and trying to bounce back from the horrible player selection on the Shack Harris era. We will see defeats (I hope not so big as yesterday) but the arrow still signs up.

Just be patient!
