Things to keep in mind so you don't look stupid with Trade Suggestions
Since it's the offseason, there's going to be plenty of suggestions on ways to improve this team. Which is cool, speculation is fun to talk about. BUT, here are things every diary-maker-of-trade-ideas need to keep in mind:
- Just because it works out salary wise on RealGM, or ESPN Trade Machine or NBA Live... doesn't mean an actual real life GM will agree to it. Put yourself in the shoes of that other team's GM, you are trying to improve your team, not cripple it. For example, Gasol for Jrich would absolutely cripple the Grizzles, and the Grizz already have plenty of perimeter players. Shooting guards grow in trees and can be found anywhere/everywhere. See: Matt Barnes(GSW), Anthony Parker(Toronto), Tarence Kinsey(Memphis). And polished post players, that pretty much need to be double teamed when they position themselves in the post, that are taller than 6'10 are a whole different story. Players like Gasol are one of a handful... IN THE WORLD.
- Keep in mind the "Never trade a big for a small" rule. Big men are way more valuable than perimeter players, all GMs know this. And this is more applicable to wing players, specifically shooting guards and 3s. I know that point guards are the 2nd hardest position to fill after the C position and they are highly valued as well. And any time this rule is broken, the team that dealt away their big man has been severely damaged and becomes only a shadow if it's former self. See: Lakers & Shaq, etc.
- Of all the teams a big man, who hasn't won a ring yet, could go to... why would they want to come to GSW??? If anything, the big man would want to go to a team that would IMMEDIATELY be able to contend for a ring. For example, the Spurs, the Suns, Detroit, etc. For everything that makes the Warriors a dangerous team, they are FAR from being an immediate contender. Don't forget most established big men that are traded or are speculated to be traded, are traded or would only be traded because they want to win a ring. For example, the only way in hell KG would leave Minnesota would be to win a ring with a team that can contend IMMEDIATELY. Otherwise there is no point in KG leaving his team.
And for all the upcomming KG and Jermaine ONeal ideas, if the Warriors want any chance in getting KG or JO... they would have to give up (in terms of talent) AT THE VERY LEAST: Baron and Jrich and more for JO, or Baron and Jax and more for KG, and that's just at the very least.
Homer Jazz Post about Game 4
I was very upset about reading this demonstrative post that totally demonizes Al, Jrich, and Baron regarding what happened last night. I can't stand for Homer-ism to this degree, this writer could easily (and probably has) influence and mislead readers, who might not know that much about the game, into thinking the Warriors are a bunch of "thugs" when they are not. If you would all just read the post, and then reflect.

There are so many things wrong with that post, I tried to comment several times but the site wouldn't let me, so here I am trying to make a difference on our site.
Can someone make a GIF of Pietrus block on JET
Can someone please make a GIF of Pietrus's block on Jason Terry like how there was one for Jrich's block on Devin Harris? It would be much appreciated. Thanks.
BTW, was that block Tayshaun-esque or what? JET never knew it was coming... just like Reggie Miller never knew it was coming. Just like Reggie...
Game 3 was CRAZY, my experience
it was so loud, during timeouts I would try to talk to my friend who is substantially taller than me... but he couldn't hear a word I was saying because it was so loud. the energy of the crowd was just insane. it felt great. It was crazy, the cheering was deafening when Monta got his award from Commish Stern and even during the national anthem people kept shouting "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRIORRRSS!!!" and then large sections of the crowd would cheer and drown out the national anthem. By the time tipoff started, you already knew the place was ROCKING. I was so tired but I managed to keep screaming and standing whenever something crazy happened. the crowd was LIVING in the moment. after every play you could hear the crowd's reaction. it seemed like the crowd was jumping up and down after every warrior-made basket, I know I was. I lost my voice by the end of the game and I fell asleep on BART because I was so tired from all the cheering, booing, and standing ovations, not to mention all the dancing around I did when Jrich/Baron/any warrior made a crazy basket.
People were so tired that when it came time during timeouts for the free tshirts/pizza, where you have to cheer to get a tshirt or pizza, not as much people were into it as they usually are during the season. everyone was holding out their energy for the actual game. I was hella cracking up about that.
I watched the game later at night on ESPN, it seems nowhere near as loud or crazy as it actually was at the arena. there were times when you really couldnt hear ANYTHING, not the refs' whistles, NOTHING. Like I didnt even know there were three technicals until I saw Baron/Jax shooting them. Thats how loud it was, you couldnt hear the whistles. the atmosphere was AWESOME and the vibe was just great.
there was a buzzkill moment when some drunk dudes a row infront of me accidentally spilt beer on some dude infront of them and the dude went psycho and started yelling "F--- You" like a million times, and then the guys next to me were backing up the drunk dudes and the guy who got beer spilt all over him started F-bombing the guys next to me too and I thought everyone was ready to throw down (these are all Warriors fans) but then the guy eventually left to get cleaned up. but yeah, total buzzkill moment, we are all supposed to be Warriors fans UNITED!
I'd have to say, this is the BEST NBA experience I have EVER had. And I was part of the crowd that witnessed the Phoenix massacre towards the end of the season when our "new" starting lineup (in the City jerseys) DOMINATED a stacked Phoenix lineup. I thought the arena was crazy then. I had no idea.
For the first Warriors home playoff game in 12 seasons, the Warriors sure knew how to please their starved, most-loyal-fans-in-all-of-the-NBA. Complete DOMINATION of the "best team" in the NBA and an AWESOME fan-experience to go with it.
I beg all GSW fans going to Games 3 and/or 4, stay classy, please.
We cannot stoop to the level of those Homer Dallas fans. I urge all Warriors fans going to the game on Friday and Sunday to stay classy, we don't need to attack Cuban or Fatman. Cuban has no impact on the game whatsoever so we should leave him out of it. Chanting any sort of demonstrative things about Cuban will do nothing but show the nation how classless we are.
And as for the Fatman, we cannot let his comments get to us. He says the controversial things that he says because he gets ratings. Fatman doesn't have a ring, what does he know about winning? There is no need to chant things about the Fatman either because he will just talk more trash about how classless we fans are after the game on TNT insider and since most of the nation tunes in for that, it would be horrible to get the label of classless fans because the Fatman got under our skin.
Please, all fans going to the home games, please stay classy. I strongly believe we have more class than any other fan base in the NBA, let's prove it on Friday and Sunday night.
F*** This. Game 3 is gonna be ROCKING.
I'm sure most of you were just shocked by the favoritism of calls by the refs tonight. I sure was. Especially with Baron and Jax getting those 2nd T's, Jax never did anything to warrant a first T in the first place. But, that is what you earn when you are a no.1 seed with the most wins in the league this year and as the returning Finals contenders.
Before the total meltdown, the Warriors definately stood a chance. Dallas never put them away until both Baron and Jax were out. This is a positive that we can take from this game.
I trust that Nellie will use his mastermind tactics to make adjustments for Game 3 and I am psyched.
I cannot wait till Friday, I am going to the game and I'm gonna go crazy. If people thought Dallas' fans were crazy... just you wait.
Steve Kerr shows GSW respect on National TV
I'm currently watching the Detroit/Orlando game and Steve Kerr was talking about how the Detroit Pistons are capable of scoring points off the fastbreak but "are no way a deadly fastbreak team like Phoenix or the Golden State Warriors."
It's nice to be mentioned in the same sentence as Phoenix (in the form of a compliment), rightfully so since Nellie has been doing the run'n'gun long before D'Antoni came along. But yes, r-e-s-p-e-c-t.
Steve Kerr and Marv Albert are my fav TNT commentator duo. They're not as great as Jim and Bob but quite possibly the next best thing.
unsung hero: Matt Barnes
against Dallas Matt Barnes was ALL hustle. And he even had his part with the dagger-in-the-heart play (one of many Warriors dagger-in-the-heart plays) with his 3, after Jrich's block on Devin Harris.
Matt Barnes definately played better than Monta and Pietrus tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a start on Wednesday. He kept his cool, had plenty of hustle plays (like his steal from Dirk's rebound after a missed Warrior freethrow). TNT needs to do one of those heart-warming stories on Matt Barnes because he has definately had a difficult journey in his career as an NBA player and to go through all that and to be able to keep his composure and stayed poised in Game 1.... I was just so impressed with Matt. He has definately earned his contract which he will almost surely be offered in the offseason. What a pickup! Barnes and Kelena have been like, Fry's lottery picks for the Warriors (cheap prices but thats the only thin that's "cheap" about them).
BTW, what was up with Monta and Pietrus tonight?? Pietrus wasn't hitting any of his patented corner 3s and Monta just looked lost out there on the court. I hope both of them lose their game 1 butterflies and step it up a notch because Baron and Stephen Jackson won't be able to produce like that every night. There will definately be adjustments on Dallas's behalf and it is time or other Warriors to step into the spotlight.
GO WARRIORS.
P.S. I am going to game 3 and I am planning on losing my voice by the end of the first quarter.
The FATMAN just gave GSW props on TNT
Sir Charles "i'm so fat" Barkeley gave Mullin and Rod Higgins(even though Rod doesnt do jack and Mullin does all the work) a shoutout, stating that "Golden State is the most dangerous team outside of the playoff bubble." and that teams should "watch out."
I know, I couldnt believe what I was hearing. Charles Barkley giving the Warriors props? What's next? We land KG, Gasol, and Pierce in a blockbuster trade?
Iron Fist of Utah
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2736496
So according to that story, AK47 is/was unhappy and unproductive with his role in Utah. Now I dont know about the rest of you, but I think he fits in perfectly with their lineup.
Well anyhow, its to my understanding that he went complaining to the media about his role with the team. We as NBA fans are all familiar with this, Mike Dunleavy in the past, a couple weeks ago with Jermaine ONeal, currently with Nazr Mohammed, and I guess AK47. This is the first time I've heard of this happening with AK47 though. I always thought Jerry Sloan had a strict regime going on over there in Salt Lake City.
And as you can see how towards the end of the story, AK47 gets his act together after being threatened by Utah Jazz owner Larry Miller. Now I dont know what Larry Miller was thinking saying that AK47 "was on thin ice." But I guess it worked and AK47 shut his mouth and played ball.
Now while this was effective in this particular situation, I cant really agree with the way owner Larry Miller handled this situation, involving the media and all. I know what many of you must be thinking, Mullin shouldve tried this with Dunleavy much earlier to try to shape things up.
But what if AK47 called Larry Miller out on that comment?? Star players are known to have egos and much pride. What if it all took a turn for the worst? Miller would have eventually had to trade a player that was unhappy and unwanted in Utah and wouldve definately not gotten his dollar to the dollar value worth in a trade with the rest of the league knowing that AK47 was on his way out of Utah because of disputes with Miller.
I guess I'm taking too long to get around to this but, I'm glad management is the way it is here in the Bay. And how the owner isnt trying to have a tyrannical hands-on approach with the players' performances and that he's leaving that stuff to Mullin.
What do you guys think? Do you guys like the way Mullin handles the players here in the Bay? Or do you all think Mullin needs to get a pimp hand and keep it strong?
Dunleavy/Murphy/Diogu/Mcleod GONE
OMG OMG OMG
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2733891
I NEVER NEVER thought the warriors would be able to get rid of Dunleavy... much less Dunleavy and Murphy in the same trade to the same team!!!!!! Not only do we get Al Harrington, but we get a legit backup combo guard with Sarunas Jaslashgdlhjgasdlkheruygsh. I dont know about the crazy Stephen Jackson, and I dont know the other guy involved in the deal... but as soon as I saw this on espn.com all I could say was.... "WOW?!?!?!?!?!" Post-trade, do you guys think the Warriors will keep Pietrus(restricted FA when the season is up), Kelena, and Barnes?
are they selling City Jerseys @ Oracle??
In the warriors pre-game, it showed Monta's City jersey.... does anyone know if they are starting to sell City jerseys at the Arena??? if so... I gotta get there to buy one!!!
Also, can someone post the schedule that the warriors are gonna wear City jerseys? Please and thanks.
I really really really hope they start selling them again, I didnt get a chance to get one when they were selling em 2-3 seasons ago and I regret it so much.
Monta Ellis gets love from Slamonline
http://slamonline.com/online/2006/11/monta-ellis-is-doing-it/
I'm glad that Monta is getting at least some props. Oh man, I soooo wish the Warriors had won so that Monta could be Player of the D.A.Y. at Slam.
Who else is mad that his dunk didnt make sportscenter top 10??? They show the nate robinson block on yao... and then like for #9 on the top 10 it was a bunch of old ladies trying out for the Nets dance team... I was literally like "......." there were plenty of other top 10 plays that didnt belong there... like a college alley hoop or a college dunk or something of that sort. most of their top 10 plays werent things I havent seen before.... I believe one of them was just a 3pt at the line in a college game... I mean.. CMON ESPN!!! Sorry for the rant. I just feel that Monta deserves an EMMY for his dunk on barbosa last night.
