Mile High Report By all means Broncos, Play competitive, but DON’T  win!

Everything that is Bronco fan within me wants to see the final score this Sunday show: Phillis Rivers and the SD Chargers on the losing end.  As a bonus, I’d like to see his arm bend under his body like Drew Brees’ was his final game as a Charger at the hands of the Broncos.

HOWEVER, if/when we win, and the following scenario takes place, we stand to lose considerable ground in draft position:

Poll
What do you want to see this Sunday?
Denver play well but lose. Draft position is too important.

Denver dominate the Chargers. Who cares about the draft?

Doesn't really matter what I think, Tebow will put the team on his back and take us to the promised land in 2011.

Mile High Report Franchise Direction - (Part 2 of 2)

In Part one of two I focused on rounds 1-3 of draft years 1995 through 2001.

For part two, I’ll focus on drafted positions from 1995 to 2008.

Mile High Report Franchise Direction – (Part 1 of 2)

First of all, I’d like to make one thing clear. I’m not a fan of long winded posts with meaningless stats, so most of the things I post or read tend to be short and to the point.  Just like Football, control the ball, don’t make turnovers, and play solid defense and you’ll win. Pretty simple.

Everyone has such a critical view of the past few drafts (2006-2010) because they were recent and we’re dealing with the players now. I just wanted to see what the last 15 years really netted the franchise.

Poll
What do you think of Mike Shanahan's Drafts from 1995 Through 2001?
Shanahan's the man! Bring him back!

Shanny did an ok job. I give credit to the position coaches.

Mile High Report It pays to be KC (terrible at football)

I'm sure someone else has already pointed this out, but as I only visit this site weekly I really wanted to point out the disadvantage of being mediocre every year and finishing 2nd in the AFC West.....

I was watching the Power Rankings unfold on ESPN today and noticed that they had KC at #10.

The AFC west plays the AFC South in its entirety this year at well as the NFC West.  However, the common divisions this year, shared between AFC West teams would be the respective teams (from last years' standings) from the AFC North and AFC East.

Denver was paired with Baltimore and the N.Y. Jets. These two teams happen to be the best two  teams (arguably) in the conference, while KC will play Cleveland and Buffalo (maybe the two worst in the entire league).

Denver has obviously pissed off the football gods by being given Indy, Tennessee, Baltimore, and the N.Y. Jets in consecutive weeks. All four of these teams should be playoff teams (as should Denver), with 3/4 potentially vying for Super bowl Wins.

Weeks 7 through 17 give us the potential for 8 wins if we win where we should (I give us L's at KC and OAK).  Keep the faith, and don't get down on Injuries. Way too much doom and gloom lately. 8 beers, a shot of Jameson give me insight!

Mile High Report Everyone take a Deep Breath....

We all realize that prior to Baltimore we were 6-0, riding a wave of Orange and Blue euphoria.  You had probably told your fellow football fans at work, the bar, or just walking down the street about it.  I like the classic point to the hat move or the subtle mention of record (6-1 still has a nice ring to it).

Mile High Report 3 Things I'd love to see on Monday

First of all, let me say this, I love this website, the fans and the team. Keep it up Peeps.

Without further ado:

1. Richard Quinn in the right slot... Pitch right to Moreno... Merriman 1 yard across the line of scrimmage.. CRACK BLOCK Quinn (using all the motivation to make up for the Punt Return miscue last week).

2. LT. 9 Carries -2 yards

3. Phillip Rivers, smack talking with Dawkins one play, blindside sack/whiplash induced/ball dropping/ HIT from Dawkins later in the game.

See that, easy to please.

Lets go Broncos!
