Redskins in talks with Denver to move up to #2 overall?

Hot off the “Twitter-presses” comes this series of Tweets from Jason La Canfora, a senior reporter for the NFL Network and former Redskins beat writer for The Washington Post:

* Spoke Monday about the Redskins interest in trading up to No 2 to land a QB. @KaraHenderson, reporting from Denver today, echoed that and…

* Others reporting similar versions as well. I’m not convinced the Skins can’t land Gabbert at 10 but several GMs believe they will move to 2

* Several GMs I’ve talked to believe Skins will move to 2 to make sure they get Gabbert. I think he’d likely be there at 10

E-Rock’s Mock Draft 04/23/11

Let’s keep this simple and straightforward, what I believe the Denver Broncos should do on Draft day in these Scenarios. Would anybody be unhappy with any of these scenarios? I of course used the Draftek Draft Simulator to predict who would be left given my picks in these scenarios, so no need to wonder why someone was selected when; I picked the best players that were available. This will lead to some favorable grabs like Mikel LeShoure in the 3rd round, but if he is there we grab him – you get the general idea.

First of All lets just have some fun...We all have a great time reading Mocks Right? Well - scenarios constantly change, Bailey is Signed and Now picks are effected. 

My Scenario, maybe a bit of dreaming but hey that is the fun on Mock Drafts!

Champ Bailey was resigned!! YEAAAAAA!! This allows us to not spend such a  high draft picks on a  replacement, and I am confident Cox will not go to jail and will do well, along with Goodman, and whomever our nickel corner is…possibly Cox, or Squid…

I’m hoping we get a CBA done in the 11th hour, my better judgment thinks this is about as likely to happen as Melo retiring a Nugget, but this is for fun and let’s hope we can get value for Kyle Orton. Ship him to Tennessee, trade down from 2 – 5 with Arizona with our first round, this picks us up a 2nd, 3rd, and a 5th. All and all we have 10 draft picks, here is when we go to work.

This is short and sweet, writing this to keep my mind busy, nervous about having my wisdom teeth out tomorrow, but enough about that check out the Mock because if you are like me, I can’t get enough speculation!

In this scenario: I see us resigning Champ Bailey and another FA Corner, probably formerly of the Saints or Panthers because of our coaches I also see us trading Kyle Orton to the Redskins for their second rounder.

Having Fun With A Mock Draft & A Lot Of Trading!

This is my first post of any length, but I have been an avid everyday reader since 2008…It’s the time of year of drafts and,…hey we are all having fun right? Well I remember last year there were many trades, and shuffling of picks, and we just don’t know exactly what we will do next year. Once CBA is over and we get things going (hopefully ;p) we can begin to scheme and maneuver our way to getting some more draft picks. A great draft may vary from year to year but it is usually one where you can take away 4 starters and around 2 situational players over the courses of their career. An average draft for most teams would usually garner 2-3 starters, and add depths with a few more players. The way I see it increase our odds, trade down as much as possible and sweetened the deal for other teams. We all are familiar with the draft value chart, (http://drafttek.com/tradechart.html), but as we all know it’s merely a tool. The key to any bargaining is you have to show your trade partner that they are the one benefiting. It won’t always be because they need to jump up and get a key player they have their hearts set on. The kicker often can be that they get more draft value (points/talent) which is their need, and we get more (picks/quantity). If done in the right manner we can obtain depth and true talent in positions of need for our roster in a new 4-3 alignment.  This is complex and thorough, but man would it be cool if we executed a similar plan, follow my logic after the jump….
