Well I'm a cubs fan, therefore I'm also a glutton for punishment

Point of clarification going forward
If you team loses it's QB and goes 1-15. It wasn't a good team to begin with. if the best QB in history can make your 1-15 team go 10-6 and get to the first round of the playoffs. It still doesn't mean it was a good team. It just means you had an exceptional player carry a bad team.
Thinking along these lines will frame many arguments about the actual state of the Colts franchise TODAY.
Example of Larry Bird's leadership
I've posted this elsewhere in a comment section. I just think it needs to be put here to better illustrate how Larry Bird's lack of vision has/is/will continue to kill this franchise.
Daily trade ideas to throw against the wall
If Larry is really serious about rebuilding this thing quickly. I propose two realistic deals that would accomplish the rebuild.
Not completely original on my part, so I think both would have realistic merit.
Larry Bird has unveiled his 15 year rebuilding plan
Cliff Brunt reports on Larry Bird's comments regarding his rebuilding plan, the struggles of the team this year and Jim O'Brien.
"We knew that we had to clean it out and rebuild it, and we knew we were going to go through some tough times," Bird told The Associated Press this week. "Nobody likes to lose, and everybody wants to be a part of a winner. We think we're on the right track to get there."
Bird also took the pressure off coach Jim O'Brien, who is in his third year after back-to-back 36-46 seasons. O'Brien signed a one-year extension last September to coach through the end of next season, and Bird said he is in no danger of being replaced.
"The one thing Jimmy bought into when he came here was that we were going to rebuild, and we were going to struggle at times," Bird said. "I always say the losses are on me because I want him to work these guys hard, develop the young guys we have and keep moving forward with what we have."
Random trade idea
Since we have heard that Cleveland has had interest in Troy Murphy. Yet all rumors seem to suggest that Larry Bird is holding out for more than Cleveland is willing to give. May I suggest a 3rd team to help broker the deal.
My plan for a quick Pacers turnaround in 2010/2011
[From the FanPosts, aaronb sacks up and offers a scenario to shake up the Pacers without waiting for two years. Not a fan of scenario 1 but it would definitely give us plenty of new material write/argue about. -TL]
OK, obviously there are some moving parts to this depending on how the draft lottery works out. If we win the lotto then John Wall becomes the obvious pick and we might need to re-evaluate where we go from there. Let's take a gander at the two scenarios after the jump.
Jerryd Bayless #4 PG
Just a little update for the folks who haven't noticed. Bayless as of today is shooting 53% from the field and is 75th in the league in overall effectiveness (PER). Right between Brandon Jennings and Rudy Gay.
Brandon Rush as of today is 354th. Right between Hilton Armstong and Sasha Pavlovic. He is also 3 years older and has a much lower athletic ceiling.
If this isn't an indictment of this current regime. I don't know what is? The time to clean house was 2006. Since we missed the boat then. It needs to be done now.
End the Bird vanity project.

Tinsley trade idea
I know it makes too much sense to really happen. However just for kicks, i'm curious what my fellow ICR friends think about this realistic scenerio.
Clippers Get:
Tinsley
Pacers Get:

Thinking behind the deal is this. Clippers are needing to clear room for Blake Griffin to play. It has been no secret that they are shopping Kaman. In the Eastern Conference Kaman is a top 5 Center, and an instant upgrade. DeAndre Jordan is a high upside "Boom or Bust" type of prospect.
Clippers are willing to do this because
1. They save money by getting an expiring, tradeable asset in Foster.
2. Get out from under Kaman's deal
3. Ease the front line glut that happens when Griffin is drafted tomorrow.
Yay or Nay?
