Big Cat Country poor officiating?

Over at Stampede Blue, the writers are discussing poor officiating having something to do with the result of yesterday's game.  I looked on their site and they never reference any calls.  Additionally, I don't know of any plays that I saw while I was at the game.  Anyone watching at home see something I missed at the stadium?

Big Cat Country SI's take on the teams with losing records

There is a nice article just posted on si.com.  Here's what they say about the Jags:

"The Jaguars knew the only chance they had to make any kind of big step forward was to follow the knee-pumping little steps of Maurice Jones-Drew. The Jags did that in a must-win victory over the Texans on Sunday, pouncing on an end zone fumble in the final moments.

And all of a sudden the Jaguars look a lot smarter and better than they did after season-opening losses to the Super Bowl-contending Colts and defending NFC champion Cardinals.

Besides Jones-Drew stepping into the featured-back role in a big way with a 61-yard touchdown blast in Houston, quarterback David Garrard is fitting into the game-management role nicely and has found a pair of reliable receivers in Mike Sims-Walker and free-agent acquisition Torry Holt.

After a few early burps, the defense also is finding a comfort zone in its switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense. They have found a gem at defensive tackle in third-round pick Terrance Knighton, who's a perfect complement to the veteran John Henderson.

The Jags may play in football's toughest division, but clearly are on the rise, while the Titans are winless and the 1-2 Texans have one of the league's worst defenses. Jacksonville still will be looking up at the Colts by season's end, but there is a definite opportunity to make a run."

Some nice compliments in there.

Big Cat Country Mr. Lewis

What do you think we can expect from Marcedes Lewis this year?  He seems to always tease with his ability, but lacks consistency.  He's obviously a good-to-great blocker, but thus far has been lacking in the pass catching department.  He has great size, decent speed, and has made some clutch catches.  I can remember in particular the 4th and short catch in the playoff game against the Pats when Garrard went deep to Lewis and he made a great catch.  It seems like this is his make or break year, and I'd be very excited to see him get 60-70 catches and some TDs.

Thoughts?

Big Cat Country New Jags

according to Adam Shefter's twitter account (twitter.com/adam_shefter), we have a safety and a guard coming from seattle.  his tweet reads "Sent to ESPN: Former Seattle S Brian Russell & former SD G Kynan Forney en route to Jacksonville. Pending physical, appears each will sign."  don't know much about them, but we'll see what is happening.  i assume it's for picks, and that means someone else from our current roster will be cut since we are at 52.

Big Cat Country which half-pack?

so it looks like i'm going to be able to swing a half-pack for this season.  the only question is: teal pack or black pack?  i'm leaning towards the black, which includes texans, titans, and dolphins.  teal includes the colts game, which is obviously big, but the other 3 aren't so compelling.

who else has purchased the half-pack, which did you get, and why?  your thoughts would be very appreciated!

Big Cat Country Fantasy Football

So when does the new season start?  It was a lot of fun last year, and I liked the service we used, so I'm definitely down for doing it again (especially since I won last year).  I think we should do a live draft if possible, though I know having people with very different schedules and in different time zones.

So let's get it together and all fight to draft Maurice Jones-Drew first!

BCC Mock Draft: With the 28th pick the Philadelphia Eagles select RB LeSean McCoy out of the University of Pittsburgh.

While the Eagles still have needs at tackle and tight end (I considered William Beatty or Jared Cook), McCoy seems like too good of a match. He definitely won't be around the next time the Eagles pick. Westbrook is getting older, and is starting to show some wear and tear, so it's time for the Eagles to find a RB that can spell him some and eventually take over in a few years. McCoy is equally adept at taking the ball up the middle, or taking a swing pass to the end zone. McCoy has had two great years in a terrible offense. Every team knew that to win, they had to stop McCoy, yet he still produced. In addition, he is durable and only 20 years old.

Big Cat Country George Wrighster news

I'm not sure who uses twitter around here, but if you do, you can follow George Wrighster.  He also has a blog at tightend.blogspot.com.  In any case, I asked him if he thought he would be a Jag next year.  He wrote me back saying that he wouldn't be in the teal and gold next season.  It should all be worked out in the next two weeks, but he'll be traded.

I'm sad to see this.  I really like him, and I think he shows great effort and is a great guy.  I'll be sad to see him go, but it will be interesting to see which team and what picks/players the Jags will be getting.

Big Cat Country Moreno doesn't help himself at the Pro day

Apparently Stafford looked really good at the UGA pro-day.  Moreno, on the other hard, didn't help himself like Wells did.  He apparently ran a 4.60 and a 4.63 in the 40.  Mysteriously slow.  not sure what this will do to his stock, but you have to wonder about it.
