I don't expect this OTFPOTD to be as busy as others, what with the Rays playing today and all, but there's still time to kill. Most of said time will be dead to rites well before I wake up tomorrow, but the OTFPOTD serves not only the poster but the greater good.

I am genuinely interested in the following:

Do Italian-style chicken sausages benefit from being cooked in beer? If so, if the quality/style of beer, or should I just go for a tallboy of Vitamin R?

It's that time of year; chili season! Chili is pretty much my favorite thing ever in the history of the world, and I'm in no way dogmatic; it's all good. We all have our secrets; care to share?

The Divisional Series Gamethread brought some interesting cultural differences to light. In that spirit, are there any bands/movies/TV shows/books/games/whatever that you've never been able to quite grasp the appeal of? Lively discussion may follow, but we're all friends here; this is a safe place.

DEAR GOD DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY JOB LEADS! I AM SO GODDAMNED TIRED OF MY JOB IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY PLEASE HELP! I'M GOOD AT STUFF I PROMISE AND I LEARN FAST! JUST GET ME THE HOLY FUCK OUT OF HERE AAAAAHHHHH!

Failing that, anyone know of any side jobs that are less than mind-numbingly boring? I can only give a few hours a week (or a couple days for a one-off type of deal) but I'm quite capable and trustworthy.

Script.

How awesome is Meg White?

Pretty fucking awesome.

Thiel interview with Lincoln.

Link here, via USSM.

It's an interesting read. My initial impressions:

Ng is the frontrunner.

They're not especially keen on the idea of being a "SABR" franchise.

They don't really recognize the long-term effects of the Gillick approach.

Results matter more than anything.

It would be easy for me to get all negative here, but there's not much (aside from my assumptions about Kim Ng) of which we aren't already aware. Nothing about this interview changes how I feel about the state of the franchise going forward (cautious optimism) and nothing about this interview changes how I feel about Howard Lincoln. With that being said, it's definitely worth checking out.

Inability to fashion chicken salad from chicken shit cited as primary reason. Haslett named interim head coach.

Via ESPN.

I know that these sorts of firings are made primarily for PR reasons, but they still perplex me. No one could have possible expected the Rams to be anything better than awful, so why do it now? Seems pointless, but whatever. I doubt that's something about professional sports that changes any time soon. Don't think this changes much as far as the division is concerned, but seems newsworthy enough to warrant a FanPost.

When I was in high school I applied for a job at the Westfield Shoppingtown Capital Mall in Olympia. (It should go without saying that I did so against my better judgment.) I was, for all intents and purposes hired on the spot, with the phone interview being a mere formality. I somehow failed said interview, which is something of a monumental failure. I am absolutely convinced that my subconscious knew better than to let me accept such a horriffic fate. I have no idea what caused me to think of Hot Topic just now.

Some possible topics for discussion:

Has anyone been to H & M before? I am desperately in need of some new clothes.

How awesome is it going to be when the playoffs start and watching baseball is exciting again?

I have once again decided to pursue photography as a diversion. I plan to teach myself the basics on my sadly neglected Nikon SLR film camera, but plan to purchase a digital SLR sometime in the near-ish future. Anyone have any recommendations? I'll be on something of a budget of course, so tips on where to pick up reliable used digital SLRs are more than welcome.

Holy crap I can't believe OSU beat USC.

Is it easier to love vehicles which have flaws that vehicles that perform reliably? This has been my experience. Am I alone?

Best neighborhoods in South Seattle? I grow weary of North Seattle and long to be closer to Tacoma without actually leaving the city.

Why are Kettle Bakes so much better than every other "healthy" chip (corn, potato or miscellaneous) alternative.

Why do I even bother providing options when I know damn well exactly how this thread is going to go?

This:

via www.subpop.com

According to the good people at weather.com, the glorious weather we have been enjoying is soon to be at an end. I could curl up into a little ball and weep at the prospect of the coming six months of darkness and doom, but instead I have decided to be excited about this:

Also, I'll be honest; the main reason I threw this up was so I could share this with the world:

While I hope that most of y'all will have something far better to do today than participate in an off-topic thread, because I work retail and understand how fantastic it can be to discover one of these sumbitches somewhat unexpectedly, I figure I'd go ahead and throw it up. Possible topics of discussion:

Holy hell Mr. Sandman is impossible to beat in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out.

Ways for me to scrape together enough dough to purchase a Novara Corsa Hybrid Bicycle.

How sad it is that I, a grown-ass man, do not know how to ride said bicycle I wish to purchase.

How insanely dumb this whole "ZOMG C.C. GOT ROBBED OF A NO HITTER" mini-controversy is.

Delicious marinade recipes and secret grilling techniques.

Sim City Societies is the most disappointing game in the history of the world.

Whatever else blows your proverbial skirt up.

Link.

This is something most M's fans have been hoping to see for a year and a half now. Because he had so few innings as a starter in college and none as a professional, I'm skeptical that his conversion to starting will go as smoothly and progress as quickly as the Mariners seem to think it will. With that being said, Morrow's control, command, and secondary pitches have all been significantly better this year than last.

Last year, watching Morrow reach back and hurl 98 MPH fastballs towards home plate with little idea where there were going to end up was fun when they found the strike zone and infuriating when they did not, and his total lack of an out pitch inspired little confidence in his ability to turn over a lineup two or three times a night. This year, though, he's been able to spot his fastball on the corners (for the most part) and keep hitters off balance with his off-speed stuff.

I'm still cautiously optimistic; he's almost guaranteed to lose a bit of steam off his fastball, and I worry about his durability going forward. The Mariners do not have a fantastic track record when it comes to handling young pitchers. Still, in a season full of awful, this is a welcome bit of good news in Marinerland.
