I know what you are thinking...not another coaches ranking. But I decided to put more facts behind the list than most using statistics such as record, championships, recruiting rankings, etc to form the list.

Frank Beamer ranks very high validating his status at the top of the ACC right now.

UNC makes its second straight appearance in the Final Four with redemption on their mind after being run out of the Alamo Dome by eventual National Champion Kansas last year. They will face a red hot Villanova team that is the decided under dog in Detroit. Many expected UNC and UConn to be here and Michigan State is the home town team. But can Villanova channel some magic from and even bigger Cinderella, their 1985 national championship team?

North Carolina goes for their second straight Final Four appearance on Sunday, but Blake Griffin and the Oklahoma Sooners stand in their way. Expect this one to be a physical, fast paced game with the winner claiming the final spot in Detroit.

The Bulldogs of Mississippi State need this win to get an NCAA berth while their opponent, Tennessee, has already locked up a bid. Miss State's James Varnado is a big key for this game. Can he improve on his eight point game in the last meeting. Can he slow down Tennessee's bigs inside.

For Tennessee to move on to the SEC finals, they have to hit some shots early from the perimeter. Auburn is the best defensive team in the conference in terms of defensive shooting percentage. For Auburn, they have to bring that same defensive intensity that has carried them in the second half of the season. It will be tough for the Tigers due to their late ending on Friday and earlier start on Saturday.

Who said the SEC West was weak? The Bulldogs of Miss State dispatched the East Co-Champion South Carolina Gamecocks Friday setting up this western division showdown with LSU. The Tigers of Baton Rouge got back on the winning track with a win over Kentucky sending the Wildcats likely packing to the NIT. Mississippi State has to have this to save any chance of an NCAA Tournament bid.

Both of these teams survived big scares on Friday needing buckets late to make it to the ACC semifinals. UNC defeated FSU in their only meeting of the season 80-77 on a running three pointer by Ty Lawson in Tallahassee. With their win over Virginia Tech, I think Carolina has wrapped up a number one seed and everything after wards is just gravy. The Heels have won the last two ACC Tournament finals, but fell short of the big prize...a National Championship.

The first step for the Kentucky Wildcats making a run to the SEC Tournament Championship and continuing their NCAA appearance streak begins with a rematch against an Ole Miss team that beat UK in their only meeting of the season. The Wildcats big letdown in the loss was a 38 percent shooting night, rebounding, and defense. Ole Miss had four starters in double figures. Kentucky lost their last four and five of their last six while the Rebels lost three of their last four.

Two teams in desperate need of a win to bolster any hope they have of making the NCAA Tournament will meet on Saturday as Kentucky travels to Florida. The Wildcats are coming off a dreadful home loss to Georgia this week while Florida fell at Mississippi State. Both teams are riding three game losing streaks. The motivation factor will be high for both teams knowing their NCAA Tournament lives are at stake so I expect a hard fought game for 40 minutes.
