Guys-

I thought it would be interesting to poll various SBNation blogs to see who would they think is the 2000's "most outstanding player"

Like the Heisman is actually voted for, I was wondering if you would give a first, second, and third place vote.

Also: I know this is an annoying rule but in order to maintain the integrity of the process I'd like to ask that you don't vote for players from your own team. If you could, Florida fans would all vote Tebow, Texas Fans would all vote Young, and USC fans would give each of their first place votes to their three winners, and the vote would be insanely split up.

I'll close voting one hour before the ceremony, which is at 8 pm EST and 5 PM PST.

The Home Depot College Football Awards Show is tonight at 6 PM CST with the Red Carpet (seriously?) at 5. Many Longhorns are up for awards that will be announced tonight, including:

Biletnikoff Award for Best Reciever- Jordan Shipley- UPDATE- Golden Tate of Notre Dame won.

Davey O'Brien Award for Best Quarterback- Colt McCoy- UPDATE- Colt has won it.

Maxwell Award for Best Player- Colt McCoy- McCoy wins! 4th Longhorn to do so.

Rimington Trophy for Best Center- Chris Hall- UPDATE- Pouncey of Florida took it.

Thorpe Award for Best Defensive Back- Earl Thomas- UPDATE- Eric Berry won it. Still love Earl.

Walter Camp Award for Best Player- Colt McCoy- UPDATE- Colt has won for the second straight year. First player since Archie Griffin to do so.

Colt is a favorite to take home the O'Brien and is right in the mix for the Maxwell and Camp Awards. Shipley has a good chance to win the Biletnikoff and Hall and Thomas have a chance to win as well.

Who else is watching? Hook 'em.

Not Another BCS Solution

I came up with an idea to work with the BCS that may make it more possible to pick a legitimate National Champion. Read on:

The general plan would be to have 5 BCS Bowls: Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, and Cotton to replace the BCS Championship.

Each league would have a tie in with one of the bowls (Big XII would move to Cotton and the Big East would go to the Fiesta) and At-large's would be selected.

The general idea is that they would play the 5 bowls and THEN use the BCS to pick the top two teams from there. The top two after this would play a week or two later and rotate among the sites.

The At-Larges would be selected by giving the bowl that has an opening with the highest team the first At-Large choice so that it can create the most compelling matchup. This way, the #1 team won't play some 2-loss Big 10 team and waltz right into the title game but instead will have to risk getting knocked off. The five bowls would combine revenue and divide it evenly to prevent bad, big name teams from getting in. This is an improvement because a) it gives Mid Majors a chance to say that they played somebody and get in the title game while keeping the bowl system alive and b) forcing top teams to prove which is the best by all playing high level opponents. Instead of Last Year's 45-35 fiasco where OU played Oklahoma State in the final week of the regular season and we played Texas A&M, both teams would have a chance to prove themselves against top teams.

If it were in play this year:

Rose

Oregon (Pac-10) vs. Ohio State (Big 10)

Sugar

Alabama (SEC) vs. At Large

Fiesta

Cincinnati (Big East) vs. At Large

Orange

Georgia Tech (ACC) vs. At Large

Cotton

Texas (Big 12) vs. At Large

Since Alabama is #1, the Sugar Bowl gets the first pick. The Cotton Bowl gets the second pick, the Fiesta Bowl gets the third pick and the Orange Bowl gets the fourth pick. The selections would resemble this:

Rose

Oregon vs. Ohio State

Sugar

Alabama vs. TCU

Fiesta

Cincinnati vs. Iowa

Orange

Georgia Tech vs. Boise State

Cotton

Texas vs. Florida

Yes, Boise State and Cincinnati got a bit of a raw deal. But it does yield two extremely compelling matchups: Texas/Florida and Alabama/TCU. Plus, a Florida upset of Texas would open the door for Cincy.

I know its not perfect and not as good as a bracket but I figured it's something we could actually get.

What do y'all think.

Hey guys, I'm a Texas fan who's coming to the Georgia-Kentucky game on November 21. I was just kind of wondering what the low down is; what fight songs I should familiarize myself with, what cheers to know, which players so watch, which players to shield my eyes from (besides Joe Cox), etc. Also, where is the big "gear' store? Any restaurant recommendations?

I'm awfully pumped. Hook 'em Horns and Sic 'em Dawgs.

Hey guys, I was considering purchasing Big XII Championship tickets tomorrow when they go on sale. Will that jinx it? I have superstitious tendencies. Also, how many of y'all are buying tomorrow or already have tickets?

Our remaining slate isn't too terribly difficult but the fact remains that there are f o u r games left, and we actually have to play them. The coaches should keep them focused, but what do you all think?

This whole situation couldn't have happened to a better guy, regardless of who he plays for. Hopefully he will clear this hurdle and have a long, successful NFL career.
