It is well known that Texas Tech is the only Big 12 school to be bowl eligible for the entirety  of the Big 12. However, Tech has not gone to a bowl every season in that same time span. My first Tech game was the Galleryfuniture.com bowl in 2000, Leach's first year. I have followed since then. My question is for older Tech fans. What happened in the '97 and '99 seasons? Tech was bowl eligible these years but didn't go to a bowl. Was there too few bowl games those years for bowl eligible teams or did Tech just decide not to go to a bowl game those years? I have never heard Tech was ever suspended so I wouldn't think that is the reason. Let me know guys.
