Just in case anybody likes to bask in Cardinal sufferage. I have to admit, I kinda did enjoy reading this a bit. It is the post on Viva El Birdos after that ugly game 2 loss by the Cardinals. Their moderator had to lock the thread so no one could continue posting because it got that bad.

I guess for some reason the ump must apparently be some sort of fan of the Cubs according to Hawkins.

D-Lee Poll: What do we think about him now?

On Saturday, in the fourth inning, Derrek Lee pounded a home run on the first pitch.  Sunday he hit a grand slam.  There has been a lot of debate recently about the decline and such of Derrek Lee.  Is he out of his slump?  Is he still in decline?  Were  people too quick to say he's declining so early in the season?  I have my own opinion, so here is a poll that should hopefully show what everybody thinks now.  My guess is many people now realize that they spoke too soon, and some might even feel embarassed for the things they said about Lee.  One thing is for sure, we definitley like the outcomes of these past few games, and we all hope it will continue.

Poll
Derrek Lee Hit a home run one game, and a granny the next. What do you think about his performance now?
I was completely wrong, Derrek Lee has still got plenty of power and potential.

Those were suprising and all, but I still think Lee is in decline.

I never doubted him a bit, he started off slow, but he is in his groove now.

Derrek Lee, I want to personally apologize for doubting your awesomeness.

Cubs/Wrigley promotions Aug. 29 and 30.

I've searched but cannot find the promotion info for these dates.  Bob mentioned some sort of 10 item food donation for the 29th and receive an autograph.  Does anybody have any additional information?  Also I haven't heard any sort of promotional info for the 29th, but was just wondering since I'll be there these two days.

Go Cubs Go, Go Cubs Go.  Hey Chicago Whaddaya say?  The Cubs are gonna win today.

Famous Quotes: Starring Ron Santo

One of these quotes was NOT from Ron Santo.  Without doing any searching, can you guess which one is not from him?

Here they are all said by Ron Santo except for one.  Credit goes to BCB reader daeviant for the idea.  The answer will be posted tomorrow in this thread.  Feel free to make new or funnier Famous Quotes as I'm sure there are plenty out there.  And even though the Cubs are off today, enjoy your day.  I know it is tough.

Cubs fans are classy!

Hey, I've been noticing a lot of angry spirits on this site lately.  What is the deal?  Listen, I know it is very hot outside, and that makes people grumpy, but let's continue to keep our site classy.  We are all Cubs fans so we have no reason to hate on each other.  Don't be a maddog, just sip your bluekoolaide and don't try princefieldersdiet because we all know that being a mad, fat, dehydrated guy on a hot day makes us grumpy.  Trust me, I know from experience!  Let's do a better job of being peaceful so Al doesn't have to be the violation police.  Also if you've ever been to the Evil BCB, we don't want to end up like them.

OT: Where to stay, what to do in Chicago?

My wife and I finally scored 2 tickets to see the Cubs at the end of August.  We are going to stay 3 nights in Chicago.  We are from out of state and we are pretty much clueless about what general area we want to stay at, so maybe you can help us.

All we know is that we will see the Cubs game and we want to eat at Giordano's.  We also want to hit up the Wrigleyville bars after the game.  Any suggestions where we should go?

We will not be driving, so train or bus would be our preferred method of travel.  We have been to the Sears Tower and Navy Pier etc. several years ago.  We want to know what is a "must see" or "must visit" in Chicago, as well as what general area we should get a hotel at.  Any tips or advice for us to help us have the best stay in Chicago would be very appreciated.
