A neat article detailing what actual cap space for teams are going into this offseason
It appears that a team name change to the Hornets is inevitable. While I have not really supported a name change, I understand that it might be necessary to the longevity of the franchise. I have...
Our own Gerald Henderson lands on the list, which makes sense. There are a number of possible candidates on that list, but the most intriguing would be Derrick Williams, not because I think he's good, but because Hendo can play on the wing and that's what the Wolves need. I'd really like to have Paul Millsap, however.
Pretty good deal, right? Well, I just bought 2 season tickets in section 203 row P seats 1 and 2. Not the best seats, but the price is right, and you get all of next season free. Seriously. I'm paying $270.00 a month for four months (Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec) for two end aisle seats. With Bobcats ticket exchange, you can also sell your tickets for games you don't want to attend, or, for select games (read: games that don't feature any sort of "Big Three"), you can trade your tickets in for more tickets to a different, select (see above) game. (For example, I traded in one of my Orlando games for extra Utah tickets.) Selling your tickets via ticket exchange, though, is a better option in my opinion. For example, the lone meeting against the Lakers in February are on sale now. For section 203, Row P, seats 5 - XX, the price is listed at $100.00 . Imagine what they'll be closer to game time, for aisle seats! Miami games are $80.00, right now. Here's the thing, though. Seats 3 and 4 are still available. No, I'm not trying to sell anyone any tickets. I am not affiliated with the Bobcats in any manner. I just thought, fellow Bobcats fan to fellow Bobcats fan, someone might be interested in scooping up these seats today. I have them reserved for the end of business day, although, I will be honest, seats 1 and 2, that I just bought, had been available as far back as 2 weeks ago, and were still available this morning. That said, you never know. I know I won't be attending all of the games. I have 0 problem with any RufusOnFire member sitting in my aisle seats when I'm not there. Nor will I have a problem selling, or donating, my seat if I can't go, should someone purchase seats 3 and 4 and want to bring a family member, or their kids, along. I don't need to go over all the perks that Season Ticket holders get, a Bobcats rep can do that for you. I would just much prefer to sit next to, or offer my seats to, a fellow RufusOnFire member, a true fan, than some strangers. At the very least, it's cool to know that you'll be sitting with the same people for the games that you both attend together, instead of random strangers each time. So, if anyone is interested, please call me ASAP (or text) so I can give you the details. Ryan, the ticket agent, has the seats reserved for me. You can call him directly at (704) 688-8052 and tell him Adam Chandler sent you, as they're reserved under my name (the tickets won't be in my name, nor will they be set up on my account to pay, they're just reserved in my name so no one would buy them). I only ask that you contact me so that I can tell other non ROFers that they're off the market now. My cell is (336) 609-1680. If you're worried about privacy, no need to post a reply on here, just text me. If I've violated any of the terms or anything, but everyone knows me around here and knows I'm a long time poster, so it's not like I'm some spam bot or something. I literally have nothing to gain from this, other than meeting a fellow rufusonfire member and being nice (unless I've already met you, in which case, hanging out with a fellow rofer member again).
The Bobcats are currently sitting with 13 players having officially signed and one contract, Derek Brown's, waiting to be matched. Without the terms of Jeffrey Taylor's deal disclosed, we are currently on the hook for 51,667,467, leaving us with about 6,376,533, of which Taylor's contract has to be included. Given that MKG made considerably more than his rookie scale contract, I would assume that Taylor is going to make more than 1,000,000, as opposed to his 750,000 rookie scale contract would suggest. So, in short, we have about 5,000,000 to spend, some of which is tied up in a cap hold on Derek Brown's qualifying offer (about 2,000,000). That leaves us about 3,000,000 to be able to sign someone a 15th player.
Signing Brook Lopez to a max deal would all but gauruntee Dwight Howard is not going to the Nets. More curious? According to Woj, the BOBCATS are the other team willing to sign him to a max contract. WTH? Anyone else see that coming?
Take this with a grain of salt
I just got off the phone with the season ticket guy, Jeff, and we got to talking about the upcoming season, as we usually do. I said I thought we'd win probably 15 games even with Antawn Jamison. He said he was sure we would win more than 20 games. I asked him why he was so confident and he told me, unofficially, to keep watching ESPN and following Twitter. So just something to think about. With the recent news that Eric Gordon might be visiting the Bobcats later this week, and the free agency period in full force, many Bobcats fans have pondered Gerald Henderson's future with the...
I'd believe it more if it came from Woj, but hey, how would you guys feel about resigning Gerald Wallace? We're expected to be considerably more uptempo in the coming seasons, which fits his game best. I personally think he's a viable solution to our PF position, which has statistically been his most productive position.
With the draft over and done with, two quality forwards picked up, both of whom are good enough defensively to play at the 2 or 3 (and in MKG's case, even the 4 in certain circumstances), and the...
Yep. Mully will be taking his long range game to London to play for the home team. I didn't even know he had ties to London. Does the Congo have an Olympic team?
I know the feeling young lady, I truly, truly do.
Along with the Knicks and Nets, fellow Frenchman Tony Parker reported via a French radio show that the Spurs were hard pursuing Boris Diaw. So, of the Spurs, Knicks and Nets, who would you most want to trade with and what kind of trades do you think are possible? Are we strictly looking for picks with Boris?
Based on this "Los Angeles Lakers big men Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol: The Lakers will likely only move Bynum in a deal for Howard, sources said. The Houston Rockets still have interest in Gasol –...
CLICK HERE! Charlotte sends DJ Augustin, Boris Diaw, Tyrus Thomas and 2013 first round pick Utah sends Devin Harris, Al Jefferson Thoughts? I've seen that several people around here aren't high...
Fans over at SLCDunk all seem to be clamoring that the team trade Devin Harris. I suppose they've been spoiled at the point guard position over the last couple of decades and he doesn't live up to expectations. Charlotte sends DJ Augustin, Tyrus Thomas, Boris Diaw and a 2013 first rounder to Utah. Utah sends Devin Harris and Al Jefferson to Charlotte. Why it works for both teams. Utah, probably even more than Charlotte, is all about working the cap and this trade immediately saves them money, knocking off an instant 12 million next season to allow them to sign a free agent point guard, and likely draft one as well. Believe it or not, with Jerry Sloan gone, there have been some whispers behind the scene that Deron Williams has even considered returning and that he and Kevin O'Conner have put their differences aside. Remember, he was traded and had no idea about it until he saw it on ESPN. Steve Nash and Jason Kidd have also been mentioned. (Could you imagine Steve Nash with that Jazz team? Wow.) The emergence of Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors finally playing like people thought he would have made it guarunteed that Jefferson won't be around passed the 2013 season anyway. The Jazz are on the cusp of the playoffs and losing Jefferson will most assuredly knock them out, but the reward is a lottery pick in this year's draft. Certainly, DJ Augustin isn't a point guard of the future, but he's a good fill in should they not be able to sign the free agents they want. It's obvious why this works for Charlotte. This season is a lost cause, although adding Jefferson and Harris would certainly garner us a few more wins. Bismack will move over to power forward, most likely, and Kemba will still remain on the bench. Devin Harris isn't exactly the tall, defensive minded PG that would be the perfect antithesis to Kemba, but he is 6'3" and isn't a slouch on defense by any means. He also has long arms and plays taller than he is. The best part of this is that we get rid of the Tyrus contract. Both Jefferson and Harris are unrestricted free agents going into the big 2013 off season. That'll free up 23 million plus the Diop and Carrolls contracts come off the books, allowing us to get right into the thick of one of the biggest free agent classes ever (maybe second all time to the free agent class of two summers ago, especially if Dwight or Deron excersize their options this offseason). What ya'll think? Is this a good move for the Bobcats? The Jazz? Is it even something feasible?
Bismack Biyombo has steadily improved as the season has progressed. He hasn't always been consistent, but there's no question that when he has gotten consistent minutes, he's been our team's best defensive player. Here are Biz's stats for the first half of the season in games where he has gotten at least 24 minutes. Naturally, most of these games have come over the last 9 games of the season as he's been starting. The first thing I notice is that in every game he's gotten 30 or more minutes, he's recorded double digit rebounds, averaging 11.25 rebounds per contest in those games. 4.25 of those are on the offensive end. He's also averaging 4 blocks per game. Biz is averaging an impressive 9.57 rebounds per game in which he appears at least 24 minutes. He's averaging a rebound every 3'02" minutes he's on the court in those games. By comparison, Dwight Howard gets a rebound every 2'29"; Kevin Love, 1 per every 2'51". Biz's season average is 1 rebound per 3'40", which is above average for his position. Howard got a rebound every 3'14" seconds as rookie in which he played 24 minutes or more (78 games). Kevin Love got a rebound an amazing 2'47" as a rookie. 2'54" in 24+ minute games. Of course, Bismack is best known for his blocking. In the 7 games where he has gotten 24 minutes or more, he's amassed 23 blocks, which comes out to be 3.29 blocks per game. That's higher than the league average.* Bismack averages a block every 8'50" seconds in these games, and a block exactly every 10' on the season. By comparison, Serge Ibaka gets a block every 8'32" and 3.2 blocks per game. In his rookie season, Ibaka averaged 1.34 blocks per game, 2 blocks per game in which he got 24 minutes or more, and a block every 13'38". JaVale McGee gets 2.7 blocks per game and a block every 10'38". As a rookie, he got 1 block per game, a block every 15'14". In games where he got 24 minutes or more as a rookie he averaged 2 rebounds per game and a block every 13'23". Certainly 7 games is a small sample size. Hopefully, by season's end, I'll be able to have a 41 game sample size, which is the number of games we have left. That would require Biz to play 24 minute in all of our remaining games. However, what Bismack Biyombo has done thus far this season (9.8 rebounds, 3.6 blocks, 8.1 points per 36 minutes) has been quite impressive. His rebounding totals are clearly climbing, as well, as he gets minutes, so I expect that number to be in double digits by season's end. As we saw last night, he is becoming more comfortable on the offensive end. He's never going to be a dynamic scorer, but I imagine he'll consistently give us 8-12 ppg going forward and probably 10-15 over the next two seasons. He is scoring at a .581 clip in those 24+ minute games, though. There's no denying that Bismack Biyombo has come a long way from that player no one knew anything about who looked lost on the floor. He still has some work to do, especially on the boards, but he's made huge strides in so many areas of his game over the short season that there's no reason to think he won't become a solid and consistent NBA rebounder. The numbers indicate that he's already above average. ***(Of course, it's only 7 games, and doesn't omit the games in which Serge Ibaka had less than 24 minutes. For those curious, Serge Ibaka's BPG this season are a whopping 3.71 in which he plays 24 or more minutes. One block every 7'19".)
Our season is pretty much lost. It looks like when our roster is at 100% we'll win a few games here and there, but certainly not enough to even begin thinking about playoffs or anything. Quite...

This season has been woeful. It's been hard to stomach, even. Injuries, a lock-out shortened season, lack of training camp and simply having subpar talent have sent us careening to the worst...
Dunno why anyone hasn't posted this yet, but... this is the first time I ever thought about amnestying Tyrus. That'd get his four years off our books.
Dear Mr. Jordan, Before I begin I would like to emphasize that this season I decided not to renew my season tickets. At the time, it was more because I wasn't sure how the lockout would run its...
What do you guys think? Do we want him? If we did, what would it take to get him?
If this is true, it's sad. However, I can't understand why in cases like these, the "accusers" take so long to come out. I mean, if I got fired because I reported sexual harrassment, I'd be on friggan CNN the next day. This is one of the times, though, that I don't really believe the accuser's story.
