Pretty funny stuff
How many of you are sick of the "Bama fans are weirdos"
chant from other fan bases because two morons who are UA fans, out of probably hundreds of millions over the last 180 years, did really stupid things? I would like all of our faithful readers to post here any highly disreputable fans or grads of any other college or university.
I will start with a student who attended my own undergraduate alma mater, dear old Spring Hill College in Mobile. SHC was founded by the Jesuits in 1830 and prides itself on providing its students with a top nnotch, liberal arts education amidst a socially responsible and ethical religious environment. However, that did not stop PATRICIA KRENWINKLE from being a student there. For the younger readers, Trish was a Charles Manson disciple and murderer.
My brother was a Deputy Sheriff in Mobile at the time of her arrest and said she was the most hirsute person he had ever seen and that she never wore ladies' undergarments of any type. Now, wouldn't it be reasonable to think that the murdering and hairy flashing were encouraged by or due to the guidance of the Jesuits or that they "attract" that kind of person?
If you know of any other similar illustrious grads or fans, please add them here. Also, my browser won't let me keep paragraphs for some unknown reason.

Rocky the Octopus
Jordan Jefferson reinstated
This will probably come as no surprise, but Jordan Jefferson was determined to be only subject to misdemeanor prosection relating to kicking a poor sap's face in. According to authorities, none of JJ's 48 pairs of shoes were DNA positive for the poor sap's facial secretions. Those Louisiana Grand Juries take care of their thugs pretty well, it seems. JJ's lawyer was outraged that his poor client had suffered so heinously and was caused to miss 4--you heard 'em--4 games. For an offense that can only get you 6 moths in the slammer! Where is justice??? Here's the link: http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/09/lsu_qb_jordan_jefferson_reinst.html

Sad, but this has been known to happen.
One more reason to hate UT
The Southeastern Swimming Championships are being held at UT this weekend. This is Club swimming and although there is no technical age limit, it is traditionally an age group program (grammar school through high school ages).
The kids swim preliminaries in the morning and then the top 8 for 14 & under and top 16 for "senior," 15 and up get to come back in the evening to swim finals. When prelim and finals meets are held at other college natatoriums, some of the college swimmers compete in the morning (they need a particular time standard for a meet with minimum time standards) but they scratch for finals, to leave the final competition for the age groupers. At least that is how it has been at Bama, Auburn and LSU. Not the hillbillies. They are amazingly beating out the 15 year olds in the morning and back they come in the evenings. There are families who have driven 450 miles for a 4 day meet, in hopes of seeing their high schooler swim in finals and these piggy college students are hogging up half the spaces. POOR SPORTS!!! The parents are about ready to start booing.
Meeting Saban!
On Tuesday night, I'm going to a cocktail party in Mobile for Nick Saban and boy, am I excited. Seeing the big guy in the flesh is just too much. I'm hoping to get my pic with him and if I do, I'll post it here asap and it will be my facebook profile pic until my daughter graduates. So, that excitement aside, I remember laughing my rear off at that parody of Nick and the song "Saving all my love for you." I can't find it on youtube. Anyone remember how to locate it? I promise to not embarrass everyone by even humming it when I meet him!
Kitten's 2nd presser
Evidently the LA press is not buying his 76 trombones, as they now understand LK to be the "The Music Man," over at RTT. They are asking some pretty pointed questions and the lame kitten is unaccustomed to anything other than the sugar rush glazed eyes induced by copious quantities of Kool-Aid from the Press Corps. He actually said the students were rioting bc they are sad, not mad (emo rioters?) that they are losing such a great coach. He said it was "a blast" to lose to Bama like he did and said "We almost beat the national champion.” He forgot we blocked two field goals and his revisionist memory now has it at one. Hahahahahahahaha! What else can you so to such a narcissistic sociopath? Can't wait for his big mouth make for more great comedy moments.
Nathan Cox, Bama player on 2002 team in music video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YK3zs7EV6Tk
The above link is to a Country Music video named "The Call," by Matt Kennon. The reddish haired guy who plays the marine's buddy (who makes "The Call") is Nathan Cox, who played for Bama and graduated in 2002. After graduation, Nathan became a Marine officer and served in combat in Iraq. Due to a knee injury suffered during combat, Nathan was retired and is now in commercial real estate in Baldwin County, happily married and the happy Dad of 1 year old Savannah. Isn't it nice to see our players doing well after football?
Nick Saban, Movie star
Here is a link to the trailer about Michael Oher and his life story. My favorite part is when the feamle lead comments on how very attractive jooly ole Saint Nick is. What I found interesting is that the other coaches identify themselves by name and school and Nick, only as "Nick Saban." Wonder if that was how the script was written or if he requested that little bit of editing? All I know is that this is one film our whole family will see. Here's the trailer link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ArXL42nVKI&feature=pyv&ad=3846832732&kw=the%20blind%20side
In retrospect, Gary Danielson is this week's Kanye West
What should have been the focus for the last 4 days was that Terrence Cody delivered a legendary gridiron performance. Every sportscaster should have been remarking, over and over, what a once in a lifetime game Cody played--the Alabama version of "Punt, baby, Punt!" It's so terribly similar to how Kanye turned Taylor Swift's moment that should have been so very special into something bad. Instead, due to Danielson's dead wrong, repeated assertions that the field goal should be re-kicked, pretty much all anyone has talked about is, should the kick be re-kicked? No. It should not. Now, Gary, can you be half as classy, given a chance to think about it, and invite Cody up on the CBS stage to get his extremely well-deserved 15 minutes of fame? Or will you just continue gushing about your man-crushes on the Gucci loafer contingent of the coaching arena?
More on the Kiffin reprimand--the "S" word was used.
Here's the link to the story:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4596524
Here's an interesting tidbit: Kiffin said he expected to be hearing from the SEC about his comments.
"I'm sure we'll get one of those letters that really means nothing as Bobby got last week, but Florida and Alabama live on," he said Sunday.
This reprimand came with a warning from Slive to Kiffin, who was penalized by the league earlier this season after he accused Florida coach Urban Meyer of violating NCAA recruiting rules.
"This is the second reprimand for Coach Kiffin in this calendar year," Slive said in a statement. "Coach Kiffin is on notice that for any further violations of SEC policies will subject him to additional penalties including suspension."
Tennessee spokesman Bud Ford said Kiffin would not comment on the reprimand.
Does anyone think 1. Kiffin will be dumb enough to garner reprimand #3 in a calndar year; and 2. will Slive have the you-know-whats to follow through and suspend him?
Kiffin reprimanded by SEC--again
I saw on the Finebaum website that Kiffin has been reprimanded by SEC Commissioner Slive again, for Kiffin's post game incorrect rant, where he claimed the officials blew the call by not penalizing Bama and letting TN kick it again. First question: What is the punishment, if there is one, for repeated screw ups like this? How many times can Kiffin run his big mouth, insult people who are right, be dead wrong, and have no consequences, excpet a verbal reprimand. Is there a point, acccording to the rules, that he gets more than a hand slap?
Secondly, Danielson was on and he was defending, not only his misstatement, but also Kiffin's. Danielson claimed that Kiffin probably checked with a "friend ref," who probably told him that was correct. Finebaum pointed out that Kiffin was still claiming this almost 24 hours later. What Finebaum didn't mention was that an SEC spokesperson had commented as of about 11 P.M. that you don't get to kick it again. So, assuming Kiffin (or some of his keepers)can read, he couldn't still think he was correct.
Also, what about his insinuation that we sabotaged his headsets?
Is it too much to expect that if a head coach of an SEC team doesn't know the rules, either about recruiting or about the game itself, that they hire someone to check the facts for him?
WARNING--Spurrier has NEVER been anyone's Homecoming date before!
If Bama has any illusions about being able to skate through next Saturday against South Carolina, think again. I bet the Ole Ball Coach is singularly pissed to be Bama's Homecoming date and will be ready to pull out all the stops to teach us (nad everyone else similarly situated) to never disrespect him like that again. I have to admit that when I saw the schedule, I just assumed that Chattanooga was our Homecoming wench. Whose idea was this?
2 things--annoying slight by the game commentators and Urban"s Eskimo kiss
1. During the halftime report, while our beloved Crimson Tide was on its way to remain undefeated at 6-0 and defeat the #20 team in the nation, one of the commentators (I never can remember which is Frick and which is Frack) exclaimed that Virginia Tech, by proof of its latest win over the mighty Boston College, was undoubtedly the best college football team in the nation. The other guy noted that perhaps Bama could have a rematch in the BCS.
2. What the heck was that Urban Eskimo Kiss bestowed upon Tebow? If he (TT) were my son, I would be concerned. Is it just me, or did that strike you as weird?
Can you say "Hey Hokies!!!"
Can you say "Hey Hokies! Hey Hokies! Hey Hokies! Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer, give 'em hell Alabama! "
"Hey Hokies! Hey Hokies! Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer, give 'em hell Alabama! " "Hey Hokies! Hey Hokies! Hey Hokies! Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer, give 'em hell Alabama! " "Hey Hokies! Hey Hokies! Hey Hokies!Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer, give 'em hell Alabama! "
That is what I am hoping to be singing/yelling this time tomorrow night! It's been a long time.
Where is everyone sitting at the Kick Off Classic?
I have been looking for and at tickets for weeks now. I have studied the seating charts and every online seller. I soon noticed that on Ebay, the tickets on the VA Tech side were going for much cheaper prices. What a dilemma--better seats or surround yourself with kindred spirits?? Since there are 4 of us, I decided to go for the great seats, Verizon Club level, VIP parking, etc. Hopefully, there will be other Tide faithful nearby?? Anyone else on the Va Tech (visitor) side? Also, where is everyone staying? Any RV people? The anticipation is killing me!!!
Seats at the UA beat down of VA Tech
I have been looking at seats available at all of the online resellers and need advice. If we are going to fork out the big bucks for tickets at these prices, we would like some frame of reference to know what ones are good and what ones aren't. Which side is "our side"? Are there any other ideosyncracies of the Georgia Dome that I should think about? Where is a good hotel near the stadium? Any good pregame parties, tailgating areas? Any thoughts about which online group has the best selection, best customer care, etc.?
We have never attended anything in the Georgia Dome, so experts from last year, we'd love to hear your thoughts and observations.

A cool link.
Be gentle with the Lame Kitten, please
We all want to keep the Viles in the "capable" paws of the Kitten for at least 2 years, don't we? I think 2 years of him ought to be enough to put that program squarely behind the 8 ball for at least 5 years thereafter. So, let's be gentle so we can keep him there and someone, please, let the Gators in our little secret. See the quote below for the Capstone Report:
"It seems reasonable to postulate Kiffin’s comments have put the young coach on a very short leash. It is also reasonable to assume Gruden would be popular with Volunteer fans; his name was mentioned for the Tennessee job before the Buccaneer collapse. How bad Urban Meyer and other SEC coaches run up the score on the hapless Volunteers could contribute to Kiffin’s future more than previously thought."
Sour Grapes at TET?
Here's their lead story on NSD Eve:
As you can tell, we here at TET don't put as much emphasis on the daily recruiting scorecard, or so you might have noticed. It's not that we don't care, but this Tiger just doesn't like all the hype thrown at a bunch of fickle teenagers who haven't proven anything other than being a cog in the hype machine. They're merely seedlings at this point, which must be cultivated carefully to grow to their full potential of saplings and trees. Sure, modern recruiting leads to pseudo-glory, like the newly recognized 'recruiting national championship', but it's all flash-in-the-pan. What you're hearing is the starting pistol going off for the start of a marathon--and those are won at the end, not the beginning. Besides, I've always said that recruiting is just like sausage and laws: you really don't want to know how it's made...
Yep, all those 5 star, flash-in-the=-pan recruits going elsewhere are just plain sour anyway.
Auburn AD
Just heard on WNSP that Auburn's AD is in trouble and rumors are that he is to be fired. Darn! He has been doing such a good job for us. For all of the Batners with their conspiracy theories that Willis had left for Bama to spy for us--duhhh-- have you not yet figured out that your AD is our Mole and internal operative?? Is this enough words yet? No, I need four more!
Calling all lawyers
Mere "contact" with an agent is not against NCAA rules. But bylaw 12.3.1 states a student-athlete is ineligible if he or she agrees (orally or in writing) to representation or ...
"He or she (or his or her relatives or friends) accepts transportation or other benefits from: (a) Any person who represents any individual in the marketing of his or her athletics ability. The receipt of such expenses constitutes compensation based on athletics skill and is an extra benefit not available to the student body in general; or (b) An agent, even if the agent has indicated that he or she has no interest in representing the student-athlete in the marketing of his or her athletics ability or reputation and does not represent individuals in the student-athlete's sport."
So, you can be declared ineligible by your friends or relatives accespting things from agents? I don't think even the venerable NCAA can deprive someone of property or other rights based on the misconduct of friends. This is one the most vague and broad based rules I have seen in over 28 years of practice. Any thoughts?
Chizik look alike?
I
I have been trying to figure out for weeks who it is that I keep thinking of when I see Gene Chizik. The movie, "Biloxi Blues" kept flashing into my mind and when I pulled up its website--Christopher Walken. Some of the stuff Chizik was saying sounded like something the wacked out sergeant he played in Blioxi Blues would have said, too, now that you mention it. Walken's shades are much cooler than Gene's specs, though.
New motivation
We all know the Ole Nictator is the consumate motivator and I can just hear him telling the team that, with the loss tonight of Boise State, there is ONE undefeated team left in the country. We now have the opportunity to make our team's legacy the fact that, if we beat Utah, NO ONE has a better record in 2008 than the Tide. Quite a nice legacy. We now control our destinty, our place in history.
What were Chizik's negative comments about Auburn?
I have read several places thaat when Chizik was leaving Auburn to go to Texas that he took some cheap shots at Auburn on his way out the door. Does anyone know if indeed this is true, and if so, what those comments were? I hate to rub salt into a wound, such as the big festering pustule they have going up on the plains, but hey, it is the Barn. Also, was Texas really #99 in total defense and 10th in the the Big 12 in total defense while Chizik was their DC, or is this urban legend? Just wondering....
Humor for football-less time
I am really having withdrawal from Bama football. This column is hereby dedicated to anything to even partially fill the big void in our waking consciousnesses caused by lack of Coffeee, "Parker-Wilson," "Orlando McCain," Hoo-Lee-Ohhh, Mount Cody, Javy, Andre the Giant and of course, in keeping with the season, Jolly ole Saint Nick. Post your favorites. Here is my latest: http://www.heavy.com/video/60550#/channel/208839
I thought this song was pretty funny, even if they didn't notice that we have a coach with hair like Fon--ZEEEE>
