Tubs needs your ideas and help per
Redraidersports.com. Don't worry I'm not giving away secret info but I would like to include DTN'ers on the vote. Chris Level has asked the member or RedRaidersports.com (the rivals pay site) to come up with a name for the walk Tubs wants to start from Dan Law Field to Jones AT&T Stadium. The walk would be similiar to his Tiger Walk at Auburn and many other walks seen in the SEC. He wants to do this so that the fans can have an opportunity to high five or touch their favorite players before each game and thus feel closer to the program. I think it would be cool if we all voted on our favorite name and then had Seth email it to Level.
My vote is for Scarlet Road because march and walk would be imitation.
- Line the path with Saddle Tramps x amount of feet apart so that people see them and line up accordingly
- Line up the Recruiters in between the Saddle tramps (eye candy boys, were on national tv and its important to have tna for all thos high school kids watching)
- Leave space for fans to fill in
- Lots of red streamers, pom poms, crates paper. All that crap they make in China just as long as its Scarlet
What would you name it?
Houston College Classic Tickets Available
Texas Tech, Rice, Houston, Texas, TCU, and Missouri will be playing at Minute Maide park in what should be tough test for Tech before conference play begins.
Big 12 South Arms Race
The formation of the Big 12 and the growth of college football has been a driving force behind the arms race in the Big 12 South and other division/conferences across the nation.
Tuberville's love for recruiting and selling the program leads me to believe that he want to not only upgrade the product on the field but also upgrade the overall program. I truly believe Tubs will usher in some significant upgrades during his tenure.
This is what I would like to see.
1. Indoor training facility similiar to the Everest Center at OU
2. Upgrade raidervision to a larger screen and HD quality
3. Raze the old Athletic offices in the South Endzone and Build First Class Athletic Offices to include ticket office that currently resides on the north endzone
4. Raze the City Bank Auditorium and build a parking garage similiar to the garage mahal on Flint Ave.
5. Raze the building in the north endzone. Leave spake open and available to temporary seating for big games. Leaves open the possibility to expand to 70,000 plus for big games while reducing the size for smaller games and maintaining the look of a sellout for games against lesser opponents.

FUTURE OC OPPONENTS - SPOTS ARE OPEN..fill em in
http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/big-12/texas-tech-red-raiders.php
Now that were all moving forward, or at least some of us, lets talk future schedules. It has been common knowledge that TSO didn't like scheduling tough oc opponents and it was obvious in his scheduling. I took a look at the above website and we have a lot more room for future scheduling after next year than I originally thought.
I was a freshman at Tech during Mikes 2nd season and was fortunate to have the opportunity to watch games that Spike scheduled such as NC State, Ole Miss, and Ohio State(which i think was forced on Mike at the last minute because of $$$$$$).
I hope Tubs uses his relationships with the SEC to drive some future oc matchups.
Here are my TOP 10 in no particular order
1. Tech - LSU series alternating in Dallas and Houston at Jerry's World and Reliant
2. Boise State : fun and draw a huge viewer rating I guarantee
3. Oregon - my next favorite team to watch other than my Red Raiders
4. Arkansas - Teacher and pupil
5. The U - Back to Tommy's roots and a great way to keep the florida reciever pipline pumping
6. Georgia - Just because I would love to visit Athens, GA
7. Penn State - Paterno is a coaching legend and the white out vs the blackout in a home in home is cool
8. Notre Dame - Old School vs New School, plus a weekend in South Bend/Chicago would be fun
9. UCLA - the weather, the rosebowl, and we would smoke them
10. Boston College - because boston in the fall is a beautiful place and if timed well could mean a redsox game at fenway...great sports weekend

South Florida Fires Coach and Eyes Tuberville for next Coach
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4807719
Great. Tech drags their feet in hiring Tommy Tuberville and now their after him. Hmmm plus they handled the investigation of their coaches incident outside of the press and fired their coach after the season. For those of you who don't remember, probably because SF handled the story better, Jim Leavitt struck a player in November and has been under investigation ever since. Well done South Florida. If we lose Tommy T to South Florida I will go ape %$@& on our administration!!!!!!!
WHAT IF?
The Tech administration was making plans to fly out to Pasadena where they would meet up with Tommy Tuberville and his newly recruited defensive coordinator James Willis (Alabama's Linebackers Coach).
Guy Bailey in Pasadena - check
Tommy Tuberville in Pasadena - check
James Willis in Pasadena - check (duh)
Gerald Meyers - any upcoming travel plans?
Kent Hance- any upcoming travel plans?
I really hope this little dream becomes a reality and we show up the National Tile Game just like Mack and the Horns tried to with their coach and waiting bs the week of #2 Texas Tech @ #4 Oklahoma roughly a year ago. The dream would be even better if Meyers was kidnapped by a Mexican Drug cartel and spent the rest of his years in a Tijuana Brothel.
Dedfischer needs only one reason for TT - Tortilla Retort
I think Dedfischer's take on the new hire describes my feeling to a TT, pun intended. Ruffin is a great person, coach, and recruiter. However, the only reason he is in the running for the job is because of his temporary coaching status. Much like Bill Stewart at West Virginia the players love him and he promised to keep continuity. With that said I don't think anyone would argue that West Virginia is in a better place today than they were with Rich Rod. Bottomline is Dedfischer is right when hes says Ruffin and Briles will be available for hire 3-4 years from now but Tubs will not. I'm afraid that if we pass on Tubberville we will regret it as much if not more than losing Leach. Tubberville is no fool. There is a reason he is politicing for the Tech job. He sees 10 wins next year with all the talent we have. I also know for a fact that Dedfischer is accurate when he says the aggies are crapping their pants over this hire. A majority of their fanbase wanted Tub's and their AD passed on him. Nothing would burn them more than for us to have another 10 year run of wooping their ass with a guy they could've had.

Direction of the Big 3 Sports (COACHES&FACILITIES)
Curious what everyone thinks of the direction the BIG 3 sports (Football, Basketball, and Baseball) headed towards
Heres my take
Football: Leach has Tech firmly planted as the 3rd best team in the Big 12, even with our slip this year to the 4th position. Were currently 3rd in all time BIG12 wins, we have the 3rd best home field record next to Texas and OU, we've split with OU the last 6 years, were playing Texas tough, and we're developing a defense
- Recruiting - back to back best classes Tech has ever had
- Facilities - trailing only OU, Texas, and A&M but catching up quickly. By 2010 we will be close to evenu
- Coaching - the best offense in the country and quickly forming an aggressive and opportunistic defense
- Outlook - Tech vs OU determines Big 12 South with Tech heading to the BCS as either a 1 loss Big 12 team or as the Big 12 Champion
Basketball: I have no clue where we're headed
- Recruiting - solid class was just signed, hopefully a sign of things to come
- Facilities - one of the best arenas in the country
- Coaching - son of a legend but the jury is still out
- Outlook - I think we finish 6th in the Big 12 and barely crack the tournament....I hope
Baseball: Full speed ahead. Dan Spencer is the man and I think he's going to bring Tech back to the success we once had at baseball
- Recruiting - solid, especially with pitchers which is expected considering Spencer's pitching expertise
- Facilities - middle of the road at best but great plans on the horizon
-
Coaching - CWS experience (2 championships) and former Tech player makes for a great fit
-
Outlook - We qualify for regionals this year and our playing in a super regional by 2012
What do you think?

Some guy "in the know" on Raiderpower
I had posted this earlier then deleted it because I thought it might be a hoax. I don't know what to believe anymore but here is the link. I guess we will find out tomorrow. It is a very entertaining read none the less. The part about placing a dress code in Mikes contract is one of the more entertaining moments of the negotiations.

LETS REMOVE THE CANCER
At this point its obvious their is a rift between Myers and Leach and/or his agent. I have nothing personel against Myers but I don't see this marriage lasting long even if an extension is signed. We look real small time complaining about paying our coach. Increase tickets prices, cut back somewhere, etc. Gerald is getting in the way of our future success and needs to be removed.
PLEASE CHANCELOR HANCE! FORCE GERALDS RESIGNATION!
PINK SLIP TIME...
For Chancelor Hance and Gerald Myers if Mike Leach leaves because of a better offer. I realize Mike hasn't left yet and he might just me leaveraging Gerald for a better deal, but the fact that his agent denies any talks between Myers is suspect.
What we know?
1.) Can Tech afford him?
According to a cnnsi.com report Texas Tech spent more money on football last year than Oklahoma. I don't know exactly what were spending it on but we can obviously afford to cut back somewhere to boost Leach's salary. He just lead us to an 11-1 season, our 3rd new years day bowl game, numerous athletic facility rennovations, and has boosted season ticket and apparell sales. Its an investment Gerald. You have to spend money to make money.
2.) Doesn't Kent Hance want to increase enrolement to 40,000 by 2020?
Hey Kent, have you ever heard of the "Flutie Affect'? If you haven't you should really look into it. Numerous studies have shown a direct correlation between athletic success and increased enrolement. The same could be said for increased alumni support through attendance and financial support. I have lived in several US cities since graduation and I have never seen more alumni involvement as I have during our two best seasons (2005,2008). Win games, raise money, and build the university.
3.) Isn't it Gerald Myers job to make our athletic program the best it can be?
Have you seen our ranking in the Directors Cup? For those of you who don't know what this is it's an award given to the university with the most athletic success in a given year. All sports are given a point value which can be obtained through winning team and individual championships. Typically universities like Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, and other large institutions rank high on the list because they play so many sports that Tech doesn't. Too be honest I don't care if we ever have womens field hockey at Tech, or if we win a National Championship in Diving. However, I do think increasing the size of the athletic department creates an even better student environment and attracts even more great students from around the country in the perspective sports. The more sports we fund the more advertising and promoting the university recieves. How do we pay for these sports? FOOTBALL! FOOTBALL! FOOTBALL! Basketball pays for itself, baseball needs help, but the other sports need the help of football. I would love a college world series title.Wouldn't you?
Gerald Myers has done some great things for Tech Athletics. He brought in Leach, Knight, and just hired a great baseball coach. He has guided us through athletic facility improvements and recently closed on a deal with Under Armour. However, much of this success has been driven by Mike Leach's success. Gerald needs to remember that.
I like Geral Myers and Kent Hance but they need to realize that their success is tied to football success. Mike Leach is football success.
BCS RANKINGS - Leap Frog Edition
If I was the infamous BCS computer this is what I would come up with and why. Researching this and writing this down was as much informative as it was therapeutic. I am so frustrated right now I can't see straight.
1.Alabama: #9 Clemson, #3 Georgia, #16 LSU .....Clemson is having a losing season, LSU is 7-4, Georgia is pretty good but clearly overhyped
Loss:0 Until someone beats them their number 1
2.Oklahoma: #24 TCU, #16 Kansas, #2 Texas Tech......TCU is good, Kansas is a joke, Tech was the hottest team in the country
Loss: Texas @ neutral field
3.Texas Tech: #23 Kansas, #1 Texas, #9 Oklahoma State......Kansas is pretty bad, Texas was the hottest team in the country and OSU game was hyped big after they almost beat Texas in Austin
Loss: Oklahoma on the road
4.Texas: #1 Oklahoma, #11 Missouri, #6 Oklahoma State.......Oklahoma was the hottest team in the country, Missouri was coming off a tough loss, and O State was hot
Loss: Texas Tech on the road
5.Florida: #4LSU, #6 Georgia, #25 South Carolina .........LSU is 7-4, Georgia was a quality win in a hyped game, South Carolina was barely hanging on to the top 25
Loss: Ole Miss, unranked and at Florida
6.Utah: #12 TCU, #14 BYU.....Both quality teams but I question how they would perform week to week in the Big 12 or SEC
Loss: 0
7.USC: #5 Ohio State, #23 Oregon, #21 Cal......Ohio State was a quality win under a lot of media hype. Cal and Oregon's rankings are generous
Loss: unranked Oregon State at Oregon State
8.Penn State: #22 Illinois, #9 Ohio State, #15 Michigan State ....Beating OSU at the horseshoe was huge. The other two not so much.
Loss: unranked Iowa at Iowa
Anyway, my conclusion is yeah we got smoked by OU. However, we smoked Oklahoma State at home and Texas smoked Missouri at home. Games like those happen. That doesn't mean OU is the greatest team in the world nor does it mean Texas or Texas Tech is. I believe that if you look at wins and losses Texas Tech should be #3 in the BCS. Its like leap frog when we were kids. Oklahoma was lined up first and got leaped by Texas. Then we leaped both Oklahoma and Texas. Then Oklahoma leaped Texas and Us. At no time was Texas allowed to leap us when Oklahoma did because thats not how leap frog works. I hate admitting it but If OU wins out they deserve to play in the NC, but if not then we do. I'm sick of hearing the media talk about our nonconference schedule. Who gives a bleep. You want us to play TCU and Cinncinatti? Okay lets do it. How about Arkansas? Bring them on. I think it's ridiculous that we're questioning the strength of schedule of the only team in college football to notch 2 top 10 victories in back to back weeks. Unfortunately were having to debate with two teams that have more money than god (OU and Texas).
