After breathing deeply...
To be harsh about it, Kendrick just got a quick lesson in thumbing his nose at a contract extension with a pay raise after having ripped two tendons in the same knee. You wanted to test the market? Have fun with that.
Krstic/FA to be named later is an offensive upgrade over Perk. Yes, he's a downgrade on D but not that huge of a drop off from the 1 month back from ligament surgery version of Perk. Jeff Green is a great upgrade over Kryptonate and a better replacement for Quisy than I'd anticipated. Hopefully the cost will be worth it. The Semi/Harangody trade looks absolutely absurd but its about clearing roster spots for a couple Free Agents. It's small gamble but it opens the door to bring in additional short term help at Center.
Reasonable perspective and the consideration of the possible lockout and the Cs lack of players signed past next year aside this trade is the worst. Perk come back!!!
We watched him go from a 18 year old pro man-child that wasn't respected much outsidebof Mass to the fiercest defensive specialist in the league and win a ring. I hope the Thunder thing doesn't work out and he realises testing the open market isn't worth all the intangible benefits of being a Celtic. Maybe he wont be a lockdown defender without KG. Maybe his market value drops and returns with tears in eyes and hugs for all, though Ainge would have to earn his forgiveness embrace. I also hope he finds immediate success in OKCity, an excellent franchise, and proves Danny wrong. Oh, emotional conflict!
If the O'Neils don't produce the rest of the season and in the playoffs then all is lost, anger may shatter the great relationship between management, players and the coaches. The fan base will want heads rolling and big stars signing up and buying into our defense again. This is why Ainge tailored his deadline day to suit the Cs salary cap as needed for the new contract rules, whatever they may be. Boston fans hope that one side of this double edge sword can cut mustard.
Just for fun here is a list of some of this summer's shallow Free Agent pool: Marc Gasol, Jamal Crawford, Tyson Chandler, Brian Scalabrine. And lastly, a list of the creme de la creme of 2012's deep FA pool: Kevin Love, Dwight Howard, Brook Lopez, Derrick Rose, Russel Westbrook, Chris Paul, Eric Gordon, Gerald Wallace.
Celtics Win Atlantic Division Title
With 10 games to go the Celtics have won at least 11 games more than everyone in the Atlantic Division. Titles like this don't mean very much when you play in such a weak division but it's a nice badge to have. Obviously it's importance lies in giving us the three seed. Hopefully that will mean avoiding the Bucks and drawing Dwade and his band of mediocre men in the first round.
