The Case for Rooting for the Steelers

While I know we all hate the Pittsburg Steelers with passion, I would honestly say, for the sake of our division, rooting for them is the best option.

Yes, we're reduced to rooting for our most-loathed team in the NFL (that's how much we're reduced to in this shitty season), but it remains clear: NFL teams that win the Superbowl often do very well in the following seasons and make it into the post-season. On the other hand, teams that lose the Superbowl often do not make it into the post-season and/or drop out of the 'elite' status the team once was. There are statistics that back this up (though, I can't find it at the moment). And, yes, I guess the Seahawks were sort of an exception.

That being said, I'd rather have the Cardinals lose and have a downward spiral that helps us get back to being the divisional champs.

What the Seahawks Need to Do to Reload for 2009

Interesting article I stumbled upon:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/90232-seattle-seahawks-what-they-need-to-do-to-reload-for-2009/

Some of his points are waaay off (Replace Mebane with Dorsey?!) A lot of people are also talking about signing Cassel. Personally, I think he's a good backup but not starting material.

However, there are some interesting points he has. Considering how much of a mess our secondary has been, I would much rather than the team hire someone else other than Mora.

It should be exciting to see what Ruskell will do this offseason considering the amount of holes the team has. So what are your thoughts on what we should do in the offseason?

Free agent wide recievers

Let's be honest here -- we can't trust our young, inexperienced wide receivers. While I acknowledge that they DO have potential, we can't afford to lose any more games due solely to their incompetence. From what I saw in the Bill's game, I saw nothing positive out of our young, so-called "promising" receiving corps. Their route running was poor and they couldn't catch the goddamn ball at all.

So, I sincerely hope that the Seattle organization finally does what it should have done weeks ago: sign free-agent wide recievers (ideally veteran players). Joe Horn and Terry Glenn are really sounding good right now. Also, I wouldn't mind signing Chad Jackson.

What do you guys think? Am I overreacting to this situation? Because I don't want to lose against the fucking Niners next week or the Rams the week after.
