Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Learned lessons...The art of Prevailing and moving on.

After yesterday's er..interesting win, I decided to take a breather (like I do after all tough games) and reflect on what positive things could come from this, the most surreal win in Syracuse basketball history. I started doing this after the home loss to Louisville back in 2010 (our only home loss that season) after I foolishly decided to to check on twitter and look at the boards here on "Nunes". Reaction was, nerve-racking. I remember feeling like the season was quickly unraveling. It clearly did not, but from those lessons, I think I've learned something that has kept me sane these pass couple of years..barley.

After yesterday, I'm still a little unsure what to say, but I feel a whole lot better, especially after avoiding other sports shows. Over my time as a SU fan, learned quickly that NOT EVERYONE is on side on a lot of things. Have any of you not been paying attention? Since our last win (ironically against Louisville at home), life as a SU fan has kinda of...well...sucked. For a team that won 31 game going through the Big East, it sure does not feel like it right now.

To be honest, I basically have slept a lot these pass two weeks. Too much bad news these pass two weeks, including this pass season. We all know how this season started, so let's not recall that at all. Stories and "honorable" essays from "top-notch" journalists calling from Jim Boeheim's job sure did make things highly frustration. But we prevailed, it's something that this team has billed this season on..prevailing, finding a way. It's never been good to go back in look on some of these "prevailing" moments, but we did. In the long run, that's all that matters.

Here's the deal, what happened on Thursday afternoon in Pittsburgh (of all places) happened. It was one of the most odd, depressing, confusing Syracuse relating events in quite some time. Yeah, in most parts of the game we got outplayed, out hustled, out..Syracuse'd. They were hitting shots, playing fast and with determination. But we prevailed. Of course there were very bad calls (some most people will not talk about), but heh, they happened.

Let me be straightforward, I hope a event like this should never happen again. Not even a little. Not even the slightest. Us fans, the team, and coaching staff, heck even Otto, should never have to play a season like this, with a team like this, with wins and effort like the team and fans have shown all year, only to have a week or even a game like this. It was pretty bad, it kinda of hurts, but we still standing.

Yes losing this game would be like the equivalent of dying with injuries from m-80s fireworks (some rather painful, scary m-80s fireworks), but you know what, today is a new day, like is was on the 15th of February in 2010. That 09-10 was killed in the press after losing a meaningless game to a D-3 team, we were eye-rolled after the loss to Louisville, was basically a 7 man rotation of starters, and was still was a injury away from a potential title run ( losing to a team like Butler, no matter how bad they were, supposedly).

I know that win was by far nothing like we wanted, I know that we will basally be playing as a glorified underdog for the rest of the tournament, I know we have a huge hill to climb for the remainder of our run (no matter how far it my be), but you know what, I'm ready. I've seen horrible things in Syracuse history, we still were standing. Remember the back-to-back NIT trips. Remember Greg Whats-his-face. Remember the way the 2009-2010 year ended. Hey, remember this game (the part when we won, nothing more) After all of that, were still here. We may go down, but as for the team (lend you positive support if you can) and as fans, let's go down swinging hard, with chainsaws..Go Orange!

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Syracuse's NCAA Football 12 Rating Not That Shabby

NCAA Football 12 (College Football Video Game from EA Sports) is right around the corner. Which means ratings for the 120 D-1 or FBS teams are getting release.

Last year Syracuse was C+ Overall, B- Offense, and C+ Defense.

It looks like EA notice the teams success from last year and we received a slight raise overall.....

Rating (B-)

Offense (B)

Defense (C+)

Sp. Teams (B-)

Prestige (3)

Better than last year, but lets keep this going up in future games. Here's to a A- Defense and a 6 Prestige (or a least a 4) in NCAA 13.

Oh and here's everybody else if you want to check.

Big East Coast Bias compared all of the Big East team rankings. I'm not quite sure how Syracuse ends up with the worst-rated defense, but then again a lot of those rankings don't make any sense.

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician I've got something to say.

It seems something is brewing in the past couple of days. Since I've lost internet access in my house, I've tried to stay connect in the Cuse internet world. I've recently got a chance to read some stuff on the NUNES that really caught my eye. It has been the recent new support for the SU Football team, which was long coming.

This new support has also led to a new hope to get more tickets sold. Now this sucks in my part since I am in an economic runt. I had to walk to the dome from downtown to get my Midnight Madness ticket. I barely have enough money to get to and from school (I go to OCC, for now). Now I've seen to get the idea that Saturday's game MUST meet the 40,000+ quota. I was hoping to help meet such quota, but I have no money, which leaves me out of luck.

To be honest, I don't know when I will have enough to get to see my team play in the Dome again like last year against Cincinnati on Halloween. Now since I don't have the money, I've seen the view of a fan who, for economic reasons (no money), can't make the game. I admit, I use to be that "SELL THIS GAME OUT GUY", but seeing through the penniless view has opened me up a bit. Now just because such people like myself can't make it to the dome, doesn't mean we don’t bleed orange and blue. It means that we will have to bleed it from home.

I hope you guys get what I'm talking about. Since I can't go this week, doesn't mean I'm not finding a way to go in the future. I've love this team since I was a kid, and I hope since I can't afford the ticket to see them live, it doesn't mean that I can no longer cheer them on. I hope you guys get where I'm going and to those who will attend the game tomorrow and in the future, cheer loud for us who can't be there. P.S., as for those who can afford to go but don’t, come on man. It’s fun and the Dome kind of smells like candy (It did on Wednesday). Go ORANGE

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Spread the Word. Get Cuse on College Gameday

Before I start, I share this news

"College football fanatics, your dreams have finally come true. ESPN's two-time Emmy Award winning College GameDay Built by The Home Depot will expand to a three-hour format and now be aired from 9 a.m. to noon ET, providing an extra hour of college football analysis, news and features every Saturday during the season beginning Sept. 4. ESPNU will televise the new first hour of the popular show -- originating from the site of the day's best game or the game with the most compelling storyline -- from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. From 10 a.m. to noon, GameDay will continue to air on ESPN. The first site of the season is yet to be announced. Each location throughout the year will generally be determined on the preceding Monday. Tell us why your school deserves to have the GameDay crew visit your school this year."

No big thing right? I know I'm still going to wake up around 10-ll AM to watch. Well, I (like some of you probably did) happened to catch the end of that paragraph. You know the whole "Tell us why your school deserves to have the GameDay crew visit your school this year" part. Now I know were no Ohio State in football terms right now, but I still feel like a chance to host a football college gameday for the first time would be a great opportunity to start what would hopefully be the rebirth season of Syracuse football.

Now I'm not saying that we deserve it, but I would like a chance to unite the SU faithful in hopes of possibly pulling this off. Now can we do this...who knows, this can be the season where the laughs. We can show the college football universe our future look, our past great history, how far we fell, and how far we plan to go. We may be laughed at by even thinking about this, but hey we got to start believing and doing for anything to ever happen

So try and let our voice be heard, even if it is for the fun of it.

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Our NCAA Football 11 ranking

Our Official Overall Team Ratings for NCAA Football 11

Overall C+

Offense B-

Defense C+

Other teams are here.

I could be naive and think I should be higher, but I can still find away to take this team to the title in the game. Plus, there's Teambuilder to make them even better.

Plus, I want to find away for you guys to keep up with that progress. More on that later this summer.

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician #7yearsAGO-Part 1

(Note-Earlier today, I decided to celebrate the seven year anniversary of Syracuse’s 1st NCAA Men’s National Title (in basketball) by tweeting what I went through that day.

Well it ended early and badly. I was mistakenly tweeting #5yrsAGO instead of #7yrsAGO, so I’m going to do it here instead in 3 parts spreading out through the week.)

(Part 1-Early morning-April 7th, 2003. Syracuse, New York. On my way to Corcoran High School, Freshmen Year, Senior Class of 2006)

6:55 am-Today is the big day, feels like nothing (if I admit that, I’ll smack my own self)

7-Can’t…Breathe…ran to catch…the bus….my heart……gonna die…I picked the worst…day………….to die.

7:10-OK I’m alright, now onto school, and (feels like crying) EARTH SCIENCE.

7:12-Today marks the day I no longer fall asleep on the bus. I gon…..

7:35-School? Crap I didn’t again.

8-OK, on to my first class, Social Studies. Want to expect, ITS SOCIAL STUDIES.

9:25-Well that was WAAAAAY too long, but it’s now the class Earth "Freckin" Science. Freckin trees and leaves and flowers and…trees.

9:25.23-I really don’t like science. Will grass, trees and rocks and the earth’s projection mean anything 7 years from now? (Future self-NO)

9:26.32-Why do I have to go there? Why do I have to take Earth Science? Why am I walking around the school for? What the heck is a Jayhawk?

9:27.02-I mean really, what the heck is it? (Realizes the logo is a bird) Oh, never mind (leave me alone, I was a high school freshmen in 2003-yes I’m that young).

9:30-OK class is about to start. Why is this room so small? Why am I all creeped out in here? Does a Science loving Mass Murder secretly take residence here?

9:31.35-Should I by paying more attention to the teacher instead of asking questions? Why yes I should.

9:34-What is going on? Man this class is stressful. But hey, the girl behind me is cute (quick note-That person became a friend a couple years later).

9:45-OK, big game tonight so I have a *valid excuse to not pay attention. What happened in 1996 will not happen again. I hope. Yeah, I better pray before the game.

9:56-Is class over? Come on end NOW? (Note-all of my classes in high school were 80 minutes long. Yeah it sucked.).

10-Hey why is everyone talking about the game for? Shouldn’t we…What am I talking about.

10:12-Everyone is Pro-Cuse so far. Of course they have to be…OR ELSE.

(THANKS FOR READING, UP NEXT…WATERED DOWN DRINKS, SNOW, AND THIS ONE SONG THAT THEY KEPT PLAYING.

*A excuse for being dumb-Yeah I was young wasn’t I?

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician How to be a Syracuse Fan in March

How to be a Syracuse Fan in March

1. Patience. (believe me)

2. Good Health. (close games may not be for the weak hearted)

3. No use of jealously over other teams getting more press than us. (see 2003)

4. No use of bitterness over loss, move on. Find productive ways to deal with a loss. (feels better) (see 2005)

5. No hate for the color Orange. (we WILL FIND YOU)

6. Know the 2-3 zone like your mom.

7. DO NOT get cocky over a upcoming opponent , NEVER.(see 1991, 2005)

8. Do not listen to ANYTHING ESPN has to say about us. (see 3,7)

9. HAVE FAITH IN THE CUSE. (OR ELSE)

I only have 9 because, well you see my name. Got any more, number them and put them in the comments.

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician This is NOT Duke

OK this has to be said.

Is anybody besides me getting annoyed with all the whinnying some of our fans are doing as of late? It’s starting to get really frustrating. There’s nothing crappier than hearing another crying story about some that doesn’t matter. First it "worst uniforms ever" (it has the color Orange in it, and that’s all I wanted) then it’s the "worst loss ever" (a loss that has happened to the past champions), the "worst win ever" (on the road, against a top ten rival), now it’s the desperate crying to be respected by ESPN. Woo, who cares. It’s ESPN, the network that was fooled by this.

The crying at every little thing in the middle of a 26-2 season is just plain dumb. We don’t want anything to do with you. Go to UCONN and take your tissues with you. Were the third number one seed (the South Region). Just about everyone inside/outside our fan base believes this. So why is there any doubt? If we beat Nova, then we lock up at least a share of the conference title. No need to cry, disrespect the team, complain and go after every meaningless award. Let John Caprwhatshisface take the coach of the year award, Jim Boeheim has many other IMPORTANT THINGS, like respect, creditability, honor, and so on and so on. Let's focus on the Big East, then the seeds and awards.

So what am I going at? THIS IS SYRACUSE, the no crying zone. Want to cry and complain, be a Duke fan.

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician The new look, it's coming.

OK, so there has been some talk of a new Syracuse (as shown here). Well I'm been off line all of last week when the talk begin to get louder. So it caught me off guard when I heard about it. To be honest, I don't like the current ones, not enough blue, too much Grey (or sliver or silver). So to be honest, I was looking forward to the new look. That was until, I saw this. And with the rumored target date this WED on national T.V. against UCONN, it going to be VERY interesting. So what's your take.

Destiny_bowl

Hey everyone. Well the BCS "National Championship" game is over and as we all know now, Alabama beat Texas 37-21. Of course as a Syracuse football fan, I couldn’t help but feel a little sad, yet optimistic about watching the game. Of course, we are nowhere near appearing in the game, but I believe one day we will. Anyway, on Twitter after the game, some of the SU Twitters were talking about our chances of bowling. Of course we had confident predictions, but that got me to thinking about bowl games and how I wouldn’t mind being in any at this point. As I said that, I jokely tweeted anyone would matter. I then got tweeted this and wonder how the logo would look

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Dana O'Neil May like Us (I think but I got Proof)

O.K. so us SU fans know that Dana O'Neil isn't the biggest SU supporter and you guys have made it well aware that you are not the biggest Dana O'Neil supporter. But I was just going over a decade review about great moments in College Basketball and guess who had some good things to say about two of our greatest moments in the first decade of the 21st century. That's right her. Dana O'Neil: Syracuse 81, Kansas 78 (April 7, 2003)-I can still see Hakim Warrick stretched out to the last inch of his fingertips as Michael Lee brought the ball up in the corner to try to tie it for Kansas, which had nearly rallied all the way back from 12 down in the final five minutes. As we all know, Warrick got a piece of that shot. There would be no Keith Smart-like heartbreaking moment at the Superdome -- Syracuse finally had its national championship trophy. Kansas? The Jayhawks would have to wait another five years to finish off another miraculous title-game rally. LINK-http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4780935 Dana O'Neil: Syracuse 127, Connecticut 117. The game went six overtimes, took three hours and 46 minutes to complete, and spanned two days -- and I didn't want it to end. To have the chance to sit courtside and watch two teams go at it with such intensity, playing on whatever remains in the body after even adrenaline has been wrung dry, when nothing monumental is at stake -- no one was getting a trophy at the final buzzer, no one was being ousted from the NCAA tournament -- is one of the reasons I love my job. LINK-http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4780877 I guess some people get a little nicer around this time of the year. Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician The Syracuse Decade Countdown

Well I might as well start talking about the end of the decade since every other website is. To start, this has to be one of my all time favorite decades. It's not really saying much since I only lived for 2 full decades. Now on to the important stuff. As we get ready to move to another, even more promising, we must look back at some of the most memorable SU moments in this past decade. Sure we had the good (The National Title in 03) as well as the bad (see Greg Robinson), but we have had many moments that we were glad to be ORANGE and moments we would prefer to have permanently removed from our brains (If we could). I want to do a video or something for this after I'm done with finals in 2 weeks, so.... what's your memorable moment?

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Sheer Loserness

I was recently checking on youtube for new videos that might interest me. I had no idea of what video I wanted, so I decided to check on highlights of the games from the past weekend. No, the the massacre at the Dome on Saturday, but some football highlights to get me over through the next couple of days until bowl season starts. Unforchantly, I can upon a video that sadden me. Here a guy, whose team is going bowling, and he's acting like they are being shifted to Division-II. Since we are in the Holiday spirit (I hope WE are), I want to show a video to let SU fans know how NOT TO ACT AFTER A LOST. As I noted on twitter NEVER ACT LIKE BILL BELICHICK OR THAT GUY IN THE VIDEO AFTER A LOST. NEVER. Lets be thankful if we ever get such bowling chance again. GO ORANGE AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS Here's the link. Laugh and be in same that such crybabys live in the same country as you and I(And hope you are nothing like that guy or he guy from Clemson)/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSYoORhf5w4

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician The Long ride is over

Well, the show's over. The 2009 Syracuse Orange Football season is now over. It has been very interesting to say the least. We had our lows(see the 5 interception game and "Halloween")and our highs (See Northwestern and the "Senior Game")I personally think it has been a success. We should have not though that a team with a short roster would have a least made a bowl game, let alone win the big east. So finish this statement...The 2009 Season was a.....?
